Stanza 9.89.1

प्रो स्य वह्निः॑ प॒थ्या॑भिरस्यान्दि॒वो न वृ॒ष्टिः पव॑मानो अक्षाः | स॒हस्र॑धारो असद॒न्न्य१॒॑स्मे मा॒तुरु॒पस्थे॒ वन॒ आ च॒ सोमः॑ ||

pró syá váhniḥ pathyāā̀bhir asyān divó ná vr̥ṣṭíḥ pávamāno akṣāḥ sahásradhāro asadan ny àsmé mātúr upásthe vána ā́ ca sómaḥ

This Soma, the impeller, moved along the pathways, flowing like rain from the sky. The thousand-streamed Soma settled with us, in the forest, upon its mother's lap.

Stanza 9.89.2

राजा॒ सिन्धू॑नामवसिष्ट॒ वास॑ ऋ॒तस्य॒ नाव॒मारु॑ह॒द्रजि॑ष्ठाम् | अ॒प्सु द्र॒प्सो वा॑वृधे श्ये॒नजू॑तो दु॒ह ईं॑ पि॒ता दु॒ह ईं॑ पि॒तुर्जाम् ||

rā́jā síndhūnām avasiṣṭa vā́sa r̥tásya nā́vam ā́ruhad rájiṣṭhām apsú drapsó vāvr̥dhe śyenájūto duhá īm pitā́ duhá īm pitúr jā́m

The king, adorned with the robe of rivers, mounted the swiftest ship of order. Driven by the eagle, the drop grew in the waters: the father draws it, he draws the father's kin.

Stanza 9.89.3

सिं॒हं न॑सन्त॒ मध्वो॑ अ॒यासं॒ हरि॑मरु॒षं दि॒वो अ॒स्य पति॑म् | शूरो॑ यु॒त्सु प्र॑थ॒मः पृ॑च्छते॒ गा अस्य॒ चक्ष॑सा॒ परि॑ पात्यु॒क्षा ||

siṁháṁ nasanta mádhvo ayā́saṁ hárim aruṣáṁ divó asyá pátim śū́ro yutsú prathamáḥ pr̥chate gā́ ásya cákṣasā pári pāty ukṣā́

They come to him, like a lion, the intoxicating meath, red and tawny. He is the lord of the sky, the watchful protector. The hero, in battles, first seeks the cows, and with his sight the bull protects them.

Stanza 9.89.4

मधु॑पृष्ठं घो॒रम॒यास॒मश्वं॒ रथे॑ युञ्जन्त्युरुच॒क्र ऋ॒ष्वम् | स्वसा॑र ईं जा॒मयो॑ मर्जयन्ति॒ सना॑भयो वा॒जिन॑मूर्जयन्ति ||

mádhupr̥ṣṭhaṁ ghorám ayā́sam áśvaṁ ráthe yuñjanty urucakrá r̥ṣvám svásāra īṁ jāmáyo marjayanti sánābhayo vājínam ūrjayanti

They harness the sweet-backed, awesome, unwearied horse to the chariot with broad wheels. The sisters, like-minded, adorn him; they strengthen the vigorous one.

Stanza 9.89.5

चत॑स्र ईं घृत॒दुहः॑ सचन्ते समा॒ने अ॒न्तर्ध॒रुणे॒ निष॑त्ताः | ता ई॑मर्षन्ति॒ नम॑सा पुना॒नास्ता ईं॑ वि॒श्वतः॒ परि॑ षन्ति पू॒र्वीः ||

cátasra īṁ ghr̥tadúhaḥ sacante samāné antár dharúṇe níṣattāḥ tā́ īm arṣanti námasā punānā́s tā́ īṁ viśvátaḥ pári ṣanti pūrvī́ḥ

Four, like cows, pouring ghee, attend him, seated together in the same place. They flow to him, purified with reverence, and constantly surround him.

Stanza 9.89.6

वि॒ष्ट॒म्भो दि॒वो ध॒रुणः॑ पृथि॒व्या विश्वा॑ उ॒त क्षि॒तयो॒ हस्ते॑ अस्य | अस॑त्त॒ उत्सो॑ गृण॒ते नि॒युत्वा॒न्मध्वो॑ अं॒शुः प॑वत इन्द्रि॒याय॑ ||

viṣṭambhó divó dharúṇaḥ pr̥thivyā́ víśvā utá kṣitáyo háste asya ásat ta útso gr̥ṇaté niyútvān mádhvo aṁśúḥ pavata indriyā́ya

He is the support of the sky, the sustainer of the earth; all creatures are in his hand. May the wellspring, the leader of the team, be for the singer: the sweet drop flows purified for power.

Stanza 9.89.7

व॒न्वन्नवा॑तो अ॒भि दे॒ववी॑ति॒मिन्द्रा॑य सोम वृत्र॒हा प॑वस्व | श॒ग्धि म॒हः पु॑रुश्च॒न्द्रस्य॑ रा॒यः सु॒वीर्य॑स्य॒ पत॑यः स्याम ||

vanvánn ávāto abhí devávītim índrāya soma vr̥trahā́ pavasva śagdhí maháḥ puruścandrásya rāyáḥ suvī́ryasya pátayaḥ syāma

Flowing victoriously, uninjured, towards the divine assembly, flow as an Indra-slayer, O Soma. Grant us plentiful, wondrous riches, and may we be masters of heroic strength.
