We call for the protection of that hero, the winner of wealth, even though he is far away. His favor is most pleasant, like that of a father. Do not separate yourselves from our friendship, release us.
The poet invokes a heroic figure, a 'winner of spoils,' even if he is far away, seeking his protection. This figure's favor is described as being as sweet and welcome as a father's, and the plea for friendship and release is repeated.
