Stanza 7.3.1

agníṁ vo devám agníbhiḥ sajóṣā yájiṣṭhaṁ dūtám adhvaré kr̥ṇudhvam yó mártyeṣu nídhruvir r̥tā́vā tápurmūrdhā ghr̥tā́nnaḥ pāvakáḥ

O people, make Agni, the divine, the best worshiper, your messenger in the sacrifice, in association with the fires. He who is firmly established among mortals, upholds truth, has a fiery head, and is the purifier fed with ghee.

Stanza 7.3.2

próthad áśvo ná yávase 'viṣyán yadā́ maháḥ saṁváraṇād vy ásthāt ā́d asya vā́to ánu vāti śocír ádha sma te vrájanaṁ kr̥ṣṇám asti

He blazes like a horse neighing for the pasture, when he breaks forth from his great enclosure. Then the wind blows upon his splendor; indeed, your path is dark.

Stanza 7.3.3

úd yásya te návajātasya vŕ̥ṣṇó 'gne cáranty ajárā idhānā́ḥ áchā dyā́m aruṣó dhūmá eti sáṁ dūtó agna ī́yase hí devā́n

From you, O Agni, the bull, newly born, the unaging flames, kindled, move upward. Your red smoke rises toward the sky; indeed, Agni, you move as a messenger to the gods.

Stanza 7.3.4

Your bright power spreads across the earth when you consume your food with your jaws. Like a released army, your movement comes; you, O formidable one, pierce like barley with your tongue.

Stanza 7.3.5

tám íd doṣā́ tám uṣási yáviṣṭham agním átyaṁ ná marjayanta náraḥ niśíśānā átithim asya yónau dīdā́ya śocír ā́hutasya vŕ̥ṣṇaḥ

The men adorned him, the youngest Agni, in the evening and in the morning, like a horse. They sharpen him, the guest, in his dwelling; the flame of the offered bull shines brightly.

Stanza 7.3.6

susaṁdŕ̥k te svanīka prátīkaṁ ví yád rukmó ná rócasa upāké divó ná te tanyatúr eti śúṣmaś citró ná sū́raḥ práti cakṣi bhānúm

O beautiful of face, your aspect is brilliant, when you shine like gold nearby. Like the thundering of heaven, your power approaches, and like the wondrous sun, you display your light.

Stanza 7.3.7

yáthā vaḥ svā́hāgnáye dā́śema párī́ḷābhir ghr̥távadbhiś ca havyaíḥ tébhir no agne ámitair máhobhiḥ śatám pūrbhír ā́yasībhir ní pāhi

May we, with our offerings and hymns of praise, with plentiful and ghee-filled oblations, serve Agni, thus. O Agni, with those boundless powers, protect us as if with a hundred iron forts.

Stanza 7.3.8

Which of your irresistible songs, O Agni, are for the one who offers, and which hero-protecting hymns you possess? With those, O Son of Strength, O Jātavedas, protect us, the leaders and the singers.

Stanza 7.3.9

When, pure, like a new axe, he comes forth shining, with his own grace and body. He who was born from the two mothers, desired, for divine worship, is wise and purifying.

Stanza 7.3.10

etā́ no agne saúbhagā didīhy ápi krátuṁ sucétasaṁ vatema víśvā stotŕ̥bhyo gr̥ṇaté ca santu yūyám pāta svastíbhiḥ sádā naḥ

O Agni, make this prosperity shine upon us; may we attain the right understanding. May all good things be for the singers and those who praise. May you, O gods, always protect us with blessings.
