शं न॑ इन्द्रा॒ग्नी भ॑वता॒मवो॑भिः॒ शं न॒ इन्द्रा॒वरु॑णा रा॒तह॑व्या | शमिन्द्रा॒सोमा॑ सुवि॒ताय॒ शं योः शं न॒ इन्द्रा॑पू॒षणा॒ वाज॑सातौ ||

May Indra and Agni be well-disposed towards us with their aids; may Indra and Varuna, who receive oblations, be so; may Indra and Soma be for prosperity and well-being; may Indra and Pushan be with us in gaining abundance.

This stanza is a prayer for general well-being and prosperity invoking specific deities and concepts. This stanza invokes the creator (Dhata) and sustainer (Dharta), wishing for their auspicious presence. It also calls for expansiveness and divine favor from Uruchi (the widely-reaching one), the heavens and earth (Rodasi), the mountain (Adri), and the easy-invocable aspects of the gods.

May the god Savitar, the protector, be auspicious for us. May the shining dawns be auspicious for us. May Parjanya be auspicious for us for the sake of creatures. May the lord of the field be auspicious and benevolent for us.
The Rishi invokes Savitar (the stimulator), who protects, and the radiant dawns (Ushasa) for well-being. He also prays to Parjanya (the rain god) for the welfare of creatures and to the lord of the field (Kshetra-Pati) for a benevolent outcome.

The Rishi invokes the collective gods (Vishvadeva) for their benevolent presence. He also prays to Sarasvati (goddess of knowledge and rivers) for wisdom, and to the benefactors (Abhishachah, Ratishachah) who bestow gifts and favor. Finally, he wishes for auspiciousness from the celestial, terrestrial, and aquatic beings.

This stanza invokes the 'masters of truth' (Satya-Pati) for protection and prosperity, along with horses (Arvantah) and cattle (Gavah). It also seeks the favor of the skilled and virtuous Ribhus, and the ancestral fathers (Pitarah) during invocations.

May the Adityas, Rudras, and Vasus accept this new hymn being made. May the celestial and terrestrial beings, those born from cows, and those who are worthy of worship, hear us.
The Rishi expresses hope that the Vasus, Rudras, and Adityas will accept this newly composed hymn. He also requests that the divine beings residing in heaven and earth, those born from cows (symbolizing nourishment), and all worshipful entities should hear their prayers.

The Rishi identifies certain divine beings as supremely holy, immortal, and aware of cosmic order. These beings are invoked to grant humanity broad paths (opportunities) and to protect them always with blessings.
