kvà syá vīráḥ kó apaśyad índraṁ sukháratham ī́yamānaṁ háribhyām yó rāyā́ vajrī́ sutásomam ichán tád óko gántā puruhūtá ūtī́

Where is that hero? Who has seen Indra, riding in his fine chariot, drawn by the bay horses? Who, the thunderer, seeking the soma-presser, goes to his home, greatly invoked, for protection?

Stanza 5.30.2

ávācacakṣam padám asya sasvár ugráṁ nidhātúr ánv āyam ichán ápr̥cham anyā́m̐ utá té ma āhur índraṁ náro bubudhānā́ aśema

I have looked down upon his place and sought his strong abode. I asked others, and they said to me: 'May we, awakened men, attain Indra.'

Stanza 5.30.3

prá nú vayáṁ suté yā́ te kr̥tā́nī́ndra brávāma yā́ni no jújoṣaḥ védad ávidvāñ chr̥ṇávac ca vidvā́n váhate 'yám maghávā sárvasenaḥ

Let us now declare, O Indra, after the libation, what deeds of yours have pleased us. Let the one who does not know, know; let the one who knows, listen: this powerful one, with his whole army, is coming.

Stanza 5.30.4

sthirám mánaś cakr̥ṣe jātá indra véṣī́d éko yudháye bhū́yasaś cit áśmānaṁ cic chávasā didyuto ví vidó gávām ūrvám usríyāṇām

Indra, when born, you made your mind firm. Alone you sought battle with the many. With strength you split the rock, and found the stable of the cows.

Stanza 5.30.5

paró yát tvám paramá ājániṣṭhāḥ parāváti śrútyaṁ nā́ma bíbhrat átaś cid índrād abhayanta devā́ víśvā apó ajayad dāsápatnīḥ

When you were born supreme from afar, bearing a renowned name, even the gods feared Indra. He conquered all the waters which were the possessions of the Dasa.

Stanza 5.30.6

túbhyéd eté marútaḥ suśévā árcanty arkáṁ sunvánty ándhaḥ áhim ohānám apá āśáyānam prá māyā́bhir māyínaṁ sakṣad índraḥ

These benevolent Maruts praise you, O Indra, and prepare the intoxicating Soma. Indra, with his powers, subdued the serpent that lay upon the waters, and with his magic overcame the sorcerer.

Stanza 5.30.7

ví ṣū́ mŕ̥dho janúṣā dā́nam ínvann áhan gávā maghavan saṁcakānáḥ átrā dāsásya námuceḥ śíro yád ávartayo mánave gātúm ichán

You, O Maghavan, scattered the enemies from birth, delighting in the milk. There, O Indra, you cut off the head of Namuchi the Dasa, seeking to create a path for Manu.

Stanza 5.30.8

yújaṁ hí mā́m ákr̥thā ā́d íd indra śíro dāsásya námucer mathāyán áśmānaṁ cit svaryàṁ vártamānam prá cakríyeva ródasī marúdbhyaḥ

You made me your associate, Indra, after pounding the head of Namuchi the Dasa. Like a chariot, you brought the rolling stone of the sky to the Maruts.

Stanza 5.30.9

stríyo hí dāsá ā́yudhāni cakré kím mā karann abalā́ asya sénāḥ antár hy ákhyad ubhé asya dhéne áthópa praíd yudháye dásyum índraḥ

Women are the weapons of the Dasa. What can his feeble armies do to me? Indra recognized his two different forms, and then advanced to fight the Dasyu.

Stanza 5.30.10

sám átra gā́vo 'bhíto 'navantehéha vatsaír víyutā yád ā́san sáṁ tā́ índro asr̥jad asya śākaír yád īṁ sómāsaḥ súṣutā ámandan

The cows, separated from their calves, wandered around. Then Indra, with his helpers, reunited them, when the pressed Soma made him joyful.

Stanza 5.30.11

yád īṁ sómā babhrúdhūtā ámandann ároravīd vr̥ṣabháḥ sā́daneṣu puraṁdaráḥ papivā́m̐ índro asya púnar gávām adadād usríyāṇām

When the Somawines mixed by Babhru cheered him, the strong bull roared in his seat. Indra the fort-destroyer drank of it, and gave back the cows.

Stanza 5.30.12

O Agni, the Ruṣamas have done this good deed: they gave me four thousand cows. We received the freely offered wealth of R̥iṇanchaya, the greatest among heroes.

Stanza 5.30.13

The Ruṣamas, O Agni, are sending me home with fair adornment and thousands of cows. The strong libations have pleased Indra, as the night ended and the dawn arrived.

Stanza 5.30.14

That night, nearly ended, at the coming of R̥iṇanchaya, King of the Ruṣamas, changed to morning. Like a swift, strong horse, Babhru obtained four thousand.

Stanza 5.30.15

We have received four thousand cattle from the Ruṣamas, O Agni. And we, the wise ones, have received the heated metal caldron for the Pravargya ritual.
