Where is that hero? Who has seen Indra, riding in his fine chariot, drawn by the bay horses? Who, the thunderer, seeking the soma-presser, goes to his home, greatly invoked, for protection?
The seer questions about the whereabouts of Indra, the hero, who is known for his swift chariot drawn by tawny horses. He asks who has seen Indra, the thunder-wielding god, seeking the sacrificer of soma and coming to his abode, invoked by many, to provide aid.

I have looked down upon his place and sought his strong abode. I asked others, and they said to me: 'May we, awakened men, attain Indra.'
The seer describes his efforts to find Indra's dwelling. He has seen its place and sought its location, even inquiring from others. The others confirm that they too wish to attain Indra, as they are awakened individuals.

Let us now declare, O Indra, after the libation, what deeds of yours have pleased us. Let the one who does not know, know; let the one who knows, listen: this powerful one, with his whole army, is coming.
The seer declares that after the soma is pressed, they will proclaim Indra's great deeds that pleased them. They invite both the ignorant and the wise to listen. The mighty Indra, with his entire army, is approaching.

Indra, when born, you made your mind firm. Alone you sought battle with the many. With strength you split the rock, and found the stable of the cows.
The seer describes Indra's prowess from his very birth. He states that Indra, upon being born, stabilized his mind and then, alone, sought battle with many. Indra's strength is depicted by his ability to split rocks and discover the hiding places of cows.

When you were born supreme from afar, bearing a renowned name, even the gods feared Indra. He conquered all the waters which were the possessions of the Dasa.

These benevolent Maruts praise you, O Indra, and prepare the intoxicating Soma. Indra, with his powers, subdued the serpent that lay upon the waters, and with his magic overcame the sorcerer.
The Maruts, who are benevolent, praise Indra with hymns and offer him soma-juice. Indra, with his magical powers, subdued the serpent-like demon that was obstructing the waters, thereby releasing them.

You, O Maghavan, scattered the enemies from birth, delighting in the milk. There, O Indra, you cut off the head of Namuchi the Dasa, seeking to create a path for Manu.

Women are the weapons of the Dasa. What can his feeble armies do to me? Indra recognized his two different forms, and then advanced to fight the Dasyu.
The seer questions the strength of the Dasa's armies, noting that they use women as weapons. He observes that Indra discerns the Dasa's intentions and then advances to fight the Dasyu, after recognizing the Dasa's deceptive nature.

The cows, separated from their calves, wandered around. Then Indra, with his helpers, reunited them, when the pressed Soma made him joyful.
The seer describes cows separated from their calves, moving about. Indra then reunites them with their young, aided by his companions, at the moment when the freshly pressed Soma makes him joyful.

When the Somawines mixed by Babhru cheered him, the strong bull roared in his seat. Indra the fort-destroyer drank of it, and gave back the cows.
The seer describes how the Soma, mixed by Babhru, made Indra joyful. Indra, the fort-destroyer, roared and drank the Soma, and in return, gave the cows back to the owners.

भ॒द्रमि॒दं रु॒शमा॑ अग्ने अक्र॒न्गवां॑ च॒त्वारि॒ दद॑तः स॒हस्रा॑ | ऋ॒णं॒च॒यस्य॒ प्रय॑ता म॒घानि॒ प्रत्य॑ग्रभीष्म॒ नृत॑मस्य नृ॒णाम् ||
bhadrám idáṁ ruśámā agne akran gávāṁ catvā́ri dádataḥ sahásrā r̥ṇaṁcayásya práyatā maghā́ni práty agrabhīṣma nŕ̥tamasya nr̥ṇā́m
O Agni, the Ruṣamas have done this good deed: they gave me four thousand cows. We received the freely offered wealth of R̥iṇanchaya, the greatest among heroes.

The Ruṣamas, O Agni, are sending me home with fair adornment and thousands of cows. The strong libations have pleased Indra, as the night ended and the dawn arrived.
The seer states that the Ruṣamas are sending him home with adornments and thousands of cows. The strong, pressed Soma offerings have pleased Indra, especially as the night is ending and dawn is approaching.

aúchat sā́ rā́trī páritakmyā yā́m̐ r̥ṇaṁcayé rā́jani ruśámānām átyo ná vājī́ raghúr ajyámāno babhrúś catvā́ry asanat sahásrā
That night, nearly ended, at the coming of R̥iṇanchaya, King of the Ruṣamas, changed to morning. Like a swift, strong horse, Babhru obtained four thousand.
The seer describes the night ending and the morning arriving, coinciding with the coming of R̥iṇanchaya, the king of the Ruṣamas. Like a swift and powerful horse, Babhru has attained four thousand as his reward.

We have received four thousand cattle from the Ruṣamas, O Agni. And we, the wise ones, have received the heated metal caldron for the Pravargya ritual.
The seer concludes by thanking Agni, stating that they have received four thousand head of cattle from the Ruṣamas. They have also received a heated metal cauldron for the Pravargya ritual, given by those who are experts in sacrifice.
