Agni bestows the swift prize-winning horse, Agni the renowned hero firm in duty. Agni pervades and adorns the earth and heaven, and Agni, the protector of women, the bearer of heroic children.

May the auspicious fuel be for Agni. Agni has entered the great earth and sky. Agni inspires one man in battles; Agni destroys many Vritras (obstacles/enemies).

Agni gladdened the chariot of the praiser, and from the waters he burned away Jarutha. Agni protected Atri in the hot place; Agni generated Nr̥imedha with offspring.
This stanza highlights Agni's roles in protection and transformation. He gladdened the worshipper with his chariot and removed something harmful (Jarutha) from the waters. Agni is also shown as a savior, protecting the sage Atri in a hot cave, and as a source of prosperity, enabling Nr̥imedha to have many offspring.
