Stanza 10.66.1

दे॒वान्हु॑वे बृ॒हच्छ्र॑वसः स्व॒स्तये॑ ज्योति॒ष्कृतो॑ अध्व॒रस्य॒ प्रचे॑तसः | ये वा॑वृ॒धुः प्र॑त॒रं वि॒श्ववे॑दस॒ इन्द्र॑ज्येष्ठासो अ॒मृता॑ ऋता॒वृधः॑ ||

devā́n huve br̥hácchravasaḥ svastáye jyotiṣkŕ̥to adhvarásya prácetasaḥ yé vāvr̥dhúḥ prataráṁ viśvávedasa índrajyeṣṭhāso amŕ̥tā r̥tāvŕ̥dhaḥ

I call the gods of great renown for our well-being, those who create light and are wise in sacrifice. They have grown greatly, are masters of all wealth, immortal, and strengtheners of the cosmic order, led by Indra.

Stanza 10.66.2

इन्द्र॑प्रसूता॒ वरु॑णप्रशिष्टा॒ ये सूर्य॑स्य॒ ज्योति॑षो भा॒गमा॑न॒शुः | म॒रुद्ग॑णे वृ॒जने॒ मन्म॑ धीमहि॒ माघो॑ने य॒ज्ञं ज॑नयन्त सू॒रयः॑ ||

índraprasūtā váruṇapraśiṣṭā yé sū́ryasya jyótiṣo bhāgám ānaśúḥ marúdgaṇe vr̥jáne mánma dhīmahi mā́ghone yajñáṁ janayanta sūráyaḥ

Sent by Indra and directed by Varuna, they have received a share of the sun's light. We wish to offer our thoughts and hymns in the sphere of the Maruts, so that the divine beings, in their greatness, may generate our sacrifice.

Stanza 10.66.3

इन्द्रो॒ वसु॑भिः॒ परि॑ पातु नो॒ गय॑मादि॒त्यैर्नो॒ अदि॑तिः॒ शर्म॑ यच्छतु | रु॒द्रो रु॒द्रेभि॑र्दे॒वो मृ॑ळयाति न॒स्त्वष्टा॑ नो॒ ग्नाभिः॑ सुवि॒ताय॑ जिन्वतु ||

índro vásubhiḥ pári pātu no gáyam ādityaír no áditiḥ śárma yachatu rudró rudrébhir devó mr̥ḷayāti nas tváṣṭā no gnā́bhiḥ suvitā́ya jinvatu

May Indra protect our dwelling with the Vasus, may Aditi grant us protection with the Adityas. May the god Rudra be gracious to us with the Rudras, and may Tvastr, with the goddesses, bring us well-being.

Stanza 10.66.4

अदि॑ति॒र्द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ऋ॒तं म॒हदिन्द्रा॒विष्णू॑ म॒रुतः॒ स्व॑र्बृ॒हत् | दे॒वाँ आ॑दि॒त्याँ अव॑से हवामहे॒ वसू॑न्रु॒द्रान्त्स॑वि॒तारं॑ सु॒दंस॑सम् ||

áditir dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ r̥tám mahád índrāvíṣṇū marútaḥ svàr br̥hát devā́m̐ ādityā́m̐ ávase havāmahe vásūn rudrā́n savitā́raṁ sudáṁsasam

Aditi, Heaven and Earth, the great cosmic order, Indra and Vishnu, the Maruts, and the vast sky. We call upon the Adityas, the gods, for help, the Vasus, the Rudras, and Savitar, the performer of wonderful deeds.

Stanza 10.66.5

सर॑स्वान्धी॒भिर्वरु॑णो धृ॒तव्र॑तः पू॒षा विष्णु॑र्महि॒मा वा॒युर॒श्विना॑ | ब्र॒ह्म॒कृतो॑ अ॒मृता॑ वि॒श्ववे॑दसः॒ शर्म॑ नो यंसन्त्रि॒वरू॑थ॒मंह॑सः ||

sárasvān dhībhír váruṇo dhr̥távrataḥ pūṣā́ víṣṇur mahimā́ vāyúr aśvínā brahmakŕ̥to amŕ̥tā viśvávedasaḥ śárma no yaṁsan trivárūtham áṁhasaḥ

Sarasvan with wisdom, Varuna, firm in his vow, Pushan, Vishnu, the great Vayu, and the Ashvins. May the immortal performers of rites, who know all, grant us shelter and a triple defense against distress.

Stanza 10.66.6

वृषा॑ य॒ज्ञो वृष॑णः सन्तु य॒ज्ञिया॒ वृष॑णो दे॒वा वृष॑णो हवि॒ष्कृतः॑ | वृष॑णा॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ऋ॒ताव॑री॒ वृषा॑ प॒र्जन्यो॒ वृष॑णो वृष॒स्तुभः॑ ||

vŕ̥ṣā yajñó vŕ̥ṣaṇaḥ santu yajñíyā vŕ̥ṣaṇo devā́ vŕ̥ṣaṇo haviṣkŕ̥taḥ vŕ̥ṣaṇā dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ r̥tā́varī vŕ̥ṣā parjányo vŕ̥ṣaṇo vr̥ṣastúbhaḥ

May the sacrifice be strong, may the sacred beings be strong, may the gods be strong, and may the preparers of offerings be strong. May Heaven and Earth be mighty and upholders of truth. May Parjanya be strong, and may those who praise the strong be mighty.

Stanza 10.66.7

अ॒ग्नीषोमा॒ वृष॑णा॒ वाज॑सातये पुरुप्रश॒स्ता वृष॑णा॒ उप॑ ब्रुवे | यावी॑जि॒रे वृष॑णो देवय॒ज्यया॒ ता नः॒ शर्म॑ त्रि॒वरू॑थं॒ वि यं॑सतः ||

agnī́ṣómā vŕ̥ṣaṇā vā́jasātaye purupraśastā́ vŕ̥ṣaṇā úpa bruve yā́v ījiré vŕ̥ṣaṇo devayajyáyā tā́ naḥ śárma trivárūthaṁ ví yaṁsataḥ

O mighty Agni and Soma, widely praised, I call upon you for strength. May you, along with those who perform divine worship, grant us shelter and a triple defense against distress.

Stanza 10.66.8

धृ॒तव्र॑ताः क्ष॒त्रिया॑ यज्ञनि॒ष्कृतो॑ बृहद्दि॒वा अ॑ध्व॒राणा॑मभि॒श्रियः॑ | अ॒ग्निहो॑तार ऋत॒सापो॑ अ॒द्रुहो॒ऽपो अ॑सृज॒न्ननु॑ वृत्र॒तूर्ये॑ ||

dhr̥távratāḥ kṣatríyā yajñaniṣkŕ̥to br̥haddivā́ adhvarā́ṇām abhiśríyaḥ agníhotāra r̥tasā́po adrúho 'pó asr̥jann ánu vr̥tratū́rye

They who uphold vows, are mighty in sacrifice, and possess great splendor. They are the priests of Agni, free from deceit, who released the waters after the battle with Vritra.

Stanza 10.66.9

द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी ज॑नयन्न॒भि व्र॒ताप॒ ओष॑धीर्व॒निना॑नि य॒ज्ञिया॑ | अ॒न्तरि॑क्षं॒ स्व१॒॑रा प॑प्रुरू॒तये॒ वशं॑ दे॒वास॑स्त॒न्वी॒३॒॑ नि मा॑मृजुः ||

dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ janayann abhí vratā́pa óṣadhīr vanínāni yajñíyā antárikṣaṁ svàr ā́ paprur ūtáye váśaṁ devā́sas tanvīā̀ ní māmr̥juḥ

Generating the heavens and earth, the waters, the plants and trees, and the sacred ritualistic elements. They filled the atmosphere and sky, and the gods, embodying desire, made them beautiful for our protection.

Stanza 10.66.10

ध॒र्तारो॑ दि॒व ऋ॒भवः॑ सु॒हस्ता॑ वातापर्ज॒न्या म॑हि॒षस्य॑ तन्य॒तोः | आप॒ ओष॑धीः॒ प्र ति॑रन्तु नो॒ गिरो॒ भगो॑ रा॒तिर्वा॒जिनो॑ यन्तु मे॒ हव॑म् ||

dhartā́ro divá r̥bhávaḥ suhástā vātāparjanyā́ mahiṣásya tanyatóḥ ā́pa óṣadhīḥ prá tirantu no gíro bhágo rātír vājíno yantu me hávam

May the supporters of the sky, the skilled Rhibus, Vata and Parjanya of the thundering sound, the waters, and the plants promote our hymns. May Bhaga, Rati, and the powerful beings come to my call.

Stanza 10.66.11

स॒मु॒द्रः सिन्धू॒ रजो॑ अ॒न्तरि॑क्षम॒ज एक॑पात्तनयि॒त्नुर॑र्ण॒वः | अहि॑र्बु॒ध्न्यः॑ शृणव॒द्वचां॑सि मे॒ विश्वे॑ दे॒वास॑ उ॒त सू॒रयो॒ मम॑ ||

samudráḥ síndhū rájo antárikṣam ajá ékapāt tanayitnúr arṇaváḥ áhir budhnyàḥ śr̥ṇavad vácāṁsi me víśve devā́sa utá sūráyo máma

May the ocean, the rivers, the atmosphere, the unique Aja Ekapad, the thunderer, the deep ocean, and the serpent Budhnya listen to my words. May all the gods and sages also listen to me.

Stanza 10.66.12

स्याम॑ वो॒ मन॑वो दे॒ववी॑तये॒ प्राञ्चं॑ नो य॒ज्ञं प्र ण॑यत साधु॒या | आदि॑त्या॒ रुद्रा॒ वस॑वः॒ सुदा॑नव इ॒मा ब्रह्म॑ श॒स्यमा॑नानि जिन्वत ||

syā́ma vo mánavo devávītaye prā́ñcaṁ no yajñám prá ṇayata sādhuyā́ ā́dityā rúdrā vásavaḥ súdānava imā́ bráhma śasyámānāni jinvata

May we, O men, be yours for the divine service. Guide our sacrifice forward successfully. O Adityas, Rudras, and Vasus, excellent givers, quicken these hymns being chanted.

Stanza 10.66.13

दैव्या॒ होता॑रा प्रथ॒मा पु॒रोहि॑त ऋ॒तस्य॒ पन्था॒मन्वे॑मि साधु॒या | क्षेत्र॑स्य॒ पतिं॒ प्रति॑वेशमीमहे॒ विश्वा॑न्दे॒वाँ अ॒मृताँ॒ अप्र॑युच्छतः ||

daívyā hótārā prathamā́ puróhita r̥tásya pánthām ánv emi sādhuyā́ kṣétrasya pátim prátiveśam īmahe víśvān devā́m̐ amŕ̥tām̐ áprayuchataḥ

I follow the path of the cosmic order with success, the two divine Hotars, the foremost priests. We invoke the lord of the field and his neighbor, and all the immortal gods who are never negligent.

Stanza 10.66.14

वसि॑ष्ठासः पितृ॒वद्वाच॑मक्रत दे॒वाँ ईळा॑ना ऋषि॒वत्स्व॒स्तये॑ | प्री॒ता इ॑व ज्ञा॒तयः॒ काम॒मेत्या॒स्मे दे॑वा॒सोऽव॑ धूनुता॒ वसु॑ ||

vásiṣṭhāsaḥ pitr̥vád vā́cam akrata devā́m̐ ī́ḷānā r̥ṣivát svastáye prītā́ iva jñātáyaḥ kā́mam étyāsmé devāsó 'va dhūnutā vásu

The descendants of Vasishtha raised their voices like him, praying like sages for well-being. Like pleased kinsmen, if you come as desired, O gods, bestow your wealth upon us.

Stanza 10.66.15

दे॒वान्वसि॑ष्ठो अ॒मृता॑न्ववन्दे॒ ये विश्वा॒ भुव॑ना॒भि प्र॑त॒स्थुः | ते नो॑ रासन्तामुरुगा॒यम॒द्य यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ||

devā́n vásiṣṭho amŕ̥tān vavande yé víśvā bhúvanābhí pratasthúḥ té no rāsantām urugāyám adyá yūyám pāta svastíbhiḥ sádā naḥ

Vasishtha has praised the immortal gods who have spread over all worlds. May they grant us abundant space today, and may you, O gods, always protect us with blessings.
