Stanza 10.188.1
प्र नू॒नं जा॒तवे॑दस॒मश्वं॑ हिनोत वा॒जिन॑म् | इ॒दं नो॑ ब॒र्हिरा॒सदे॑ ||
prá nūnáṁ jātávedasam áśvaṁ hinota vājínam idáṁ no barhír āsáde
Now, send forth Jātavedas, the knowing one, like a swift and powerful horse, to grace our sacred altar grass.
This stanza is an invocation to the deity Jātavedas, who is addressed as a swift horse. The Rishi urges the listeners to send forth and welcome Jātavedas, referred to as a powerful and energetic steed, to be seated upon the sacred grass (barhis) which is prepared for a ritual. This signifies the eager anticipation of the deity's arrival to accept the offerings and bless the sacrifice.

अ॒स्य प्र जा॒तवे॑दसो॒ विप्र॑वीरस्य मी॒ळ्हुषः॑ | म॒हीमि॑यर्मि सुष्टु॒तिम् ||
asyá prá jātávedaso vípravīrasya mīḷhúṣaḥ mahī́m iyarmi suṣṭutím
I offer this great praise to him, Jātavedas, who is rich in gifts and surrounded by wise sages.
The speaker expresses their deep devotion and praises Jātavedas, whom they perceive as being rich in resources and having a retinue of wise sages as his companions. The Rishi declares they are offering a grand and significant hymn of praise to this deity, highlighting the importance and magnitude of their devotion.

या रुचो॑ जा॒तवे॑दसो देव॒त्रा ह॑व्य॒वाह॑नीः | ताभि॑र्नो य॒ज्ञमि॑न्वतु ||
yā́ rúco jātávedaso devatrā́ havyavā́hanīḥ tā́bhir no yajñám invatu
May he, with those flames of Jātavedas that carry offerings to the gods, advance our sacrifice.
This verse requests Jātavedas to advance their sacrifice. The Rishi invokes the radiant flames or energies of Jātavedas, described as carrying oblations to the gods. By using these divine flames, which are potent and effective in reaching the heavens, the sacrifice is expected to be promoted and accepted by the divine beings.
