वात॒ आ वा॑तु भेष॒जं श॒म्भु म॑यो॒भु नो॑ हृ॒दे | प्र ण॒ आयूं॑षि तारिषत् ||
vā́ta ā́ vātu bheṣajáṁ śambhú mayobhú no hr̥dé prá ṇa ā́yūṁṣi tāriṣat
May Vata (the wind) bring us healing and joyful medicine. May it prolong our lives.
This verse is a prayer to Vata, the wind god, personified as a life-giving force. The speaker implores Vata to bring beneficial, health-giving, and joyful medicine or essence, which is to be inhaled or experienced by "our hearts." utá vāta pitā́si na utá bhrā́totá naḥ sákhā sá no jīvā́tave kr̥dhi
O Vata, you are our father, our brother, and our friend. Grant us to live.
This verse continues the invocation to Vata, establishing a deep familial and friendly relationship. यद॒दो वा॑त ते गृ॒हे॒३॒॑ऽमृत॑स्य नि॒धिर्हि॒तः | ततो॑ नो देहि जी॒वसे॑ ||
yád adó vāta te gr̥hè 'mŕ̥tasya nidhír hitáḥ táto no dehi jīváse
O Vata, from the hidden treasure of immortality in your home, give us that we may live.
This verse asks Vata to share a divine treasure. The speaker refers to a hidden store of 'amrita' (immortality nectar) located in Vata's dwelling. They are requesting that Vata bestow some of this life-sustaining substance from his home, enabling them to continue living. This highlights the belief in Vata's possession of potent, life-extending powers and the desire to partake in them.
