त्वष्टा॑ दुहि॒त्रे व॑ह॒तुं कृ॑णो॒तीती॒दं विश्वं॒ भुव॑नं॒ समे॑ति | य॒मस्य॑ मा॒ता प॑र्यु॒ह्यमा॑ना म॒हो जा॒या विव॑स्वतो ननाश ||
tváṣṭā duhitré vahatúṁ kr̥ṇotī́tīdáṁ víśvam bhúvanaṁ sám eti yamásya mātā́ paryuhyámānā mahó jāyā́ vívasvato nanāśa
Tvashṭar prepares the bridal procession for his daughter; thus, the entire world comes together. But Yama's mother, the great Vivasvan's wife, vanished while being led away.
The divine craftsman Tvashṭar is preparing a wedding for his daughter. This news spreads, causing the entire world to gather. However, Yama's mother, the wife of Vivasvan, mysteriously disappears as she is being taken to her new home.

They hid the immortal woman from mortals, made a likeness, and gave her to Vivasvan. Saraṇyû bore the twins Aśvins to him, and then abandoned both pairs of children.

This verse is a prayer for protection and guidance for a soul transitioning to the afterlife. It invokes Âyu (life-giver) and Pūṣan (nourisher) to protect the soul on its journey. The soul is then placed into the realm of the pious and wise, where Savitar (the impeller god) guides it to its rightful place.

The plants are full of nourishment, and my speech is full of nourishment. The waters are indeed full of nourishment. With that, along with me, purify me.
