Stanza 1.130.1

एन्द्र॑ या॒ह्युप॑ नः परा॒वतो॒ नायमच्छा॑ वि॒दथा॑नीव॒ सत्प॑ति॒रस्तं॒ राजे॑व॒ सत्प॑तिः | हवा॑महे त्वा व॒यं प्रय॑स्वन्तः सु॒ते सचा॑ || पु॒त्रासो॒ न पि॒तरं॒ वाज॑सातये॒ मंहि॑ष्ठं॒ वाज॑सातये |

éndra yāhy úpa naḥ parāváto nā́yám áchā vidáthānīva sátpatir ástaṁ rā́jeva sátpatiḥ hávāmahe tvā vayám práyasvantaḥ suté sácā putrā́so ná pitáraṁ vā́jasātaye máṁhiṣṭhaṁ vā́jasātaye

Oh Indra, come to us from far away! Be our leader, like a king guiding his people to gatherings. We call to you with our offerings and poured-out Soma juice, like children calling to their father, seeking your strength for victory.

Stanza 1.130.2

पिबा॒ सोम॑मिन्द्र सुवा॒नमद्रि॑भिः॒ कोशे॑न सि॒क्तम॑व॒तं न वंस॑गस्तातृषा॒णो न वंस॑गः | मदा॑य हर्य॒ताय॑ ते तु॒विष्ट॑माय॒ धाय॑से || आ त्वा॑ यच्छन्तु ह॒रितो॒ न सूर्य॒महा॒ विश्वे॑व॒ सूर्य॑म् |

píbā sómam indra suvānám ádribhiḥ kóśena siktám avatáṁ ná váṁsagas tātr̥ṣāṇó ná váṁsagaḥ mádāya haryatā́ya te tuvíṣṭamāya dhā́yase ā́ tvā yachantu haríto ná sū́ryam áhā víśveva sū́ryam

Indra, drink the Soma juice, pressed by stones and poured! Drink it up like a thirsty ox at a spring. This drink is for your enjoyment and to power you up. May your swift, bay horses bring you here, just like they bring the sun across the sky every day!

Stanza 1.130.3

अवि॑न्दद्दि॒वो निहि॑तं॒ गुहा॑ नि॒धिं वेर्न गर्भं॒ परि॑वीत॒मश्म॑न्यन॒न्ते अ॒न्तरश्म॑नि | व्र॒जं व॒ज्री गवा॑मिव॒ सिषा॑स॒न्नङ्गि॑रस्तमः || अपा॑वृणो॒दिष॒ इन्द्रः॒ परी॑वृता॒ द्वार॒ इषः॒ परी॑वृताः |

ávindad divó níhitaṁ gúhā nidhíṁ vér ná gárbham párivītam áśmany ananté antár áśmani vrajáṁ vajrī́ gávām iva síṣāsann áṅgirastamaḥ ápāvr̥ṇod íṣa índraḥ párīvr̥tā dvā́ra íṣaḥ párīvr̥tāḥ

Indra found a hidden treasure, like a bird's nest deep in the rocks, stored away in the sky. Wielding his thunderbolt, he broke through the strong defenses. He opened up the hidden food and doors, releasing the wealth!

Stanza 1.130.4

दा॒दृ॒हा॒णो वज्र॒मिन्द्रो॒ गभ॑स्त्योः॒ क्षद्मे॑व ति॒ग्ममस॑नाय॒ सं श्य॑दहि॒हत्या॑य॒ सं श्य॑त् | सं॒वि॒व्या॒न ओज॑सा॒ शवो॑भिरिन्द्र म॒ज्मना॑ || तष्टे॑व वृ॒क्षं व॒निनो॒ नि वृ॑श्चसि पर॒श्वेव॒ नि वृ॑श्चसि |

dādr̥hāṇó vájram índro gábhastyoḥ kṣádmeva tigmám ásanāya sáṁ śyad ahihátyāya sáṁ śyat saṁvivyāná ójasā śávobhir indra majmánā táṣṭeva vr̥kṣáṁ vaníno ní vr̥ścasi paraśvéva ní vr̥ścasi

Indra firmly grips his thunderbolt, sharpening its edge like a tool for killing Ahi. Full of majesty and power, he strikes like a woodsman felling trees with an axe, destroying his targets!

Stanza 1.130.5

त्वं वृथा॑ न॒द्य॑ इन्द्र॒ सर्त॒वेऽच्छा॑ समु॒द्रम॑सृजो॒ रथाँ॑ इव वाजय॒तो रथाँ॑ इव | इ॒त ऊ॒तीर॑युञ्जत समा॒नमर्थ॒मक्षि॑तम् || धे॒नूरि॑व॒ मन॑वे वि॒श्वदो॑हसो॒ जना॑य वि॒श्वदो॑हसः |

tváṁ vŕ̥thā nadyà indra sártavé 'chā samudrám asr̥jo ráthām̐ iva vājayató ráthām̐ iva itá ūtī́r ayuñjata samānám ártham ákṣitam dhenū́r iva mánave viśvádohaso jánāya viśvádohasaḥ

Indra, you effortlessly release the rivers to flow towards the ocean, like swift chariots. These waters unite for a great purpose. Like nourishing cows providing for people, these rivers give their bounty to mankind!

Stanza 1.130.6

इ॒मां ते॒ वाचं॑ वसू॒यन्त॑ आ॒यवो॒ रथं॒ न धीरः॒ स्वपा॑ अतक्षिषुः सु॒म्नाय॒ त्वाम॑तक्षिषुः | शु॒म्भन्तो॒ जेन्यं॑ यथा॒ वाजे॑षु विप्र वा॒जिन॑म् || अत्य॑मिव॒ शव॑से सा॒तये॒ धना॒ विश्वा॒ धना॑नि सा॒तये॑ |

imā́ṁ te vā́caṁ vasūyánta āyávo ráthaṁ ná dhī́raḥ svápā atakṣiṣuḥ sumnā́ya tvā́m atakṣiṣuḥ śumbhánto jényaṁ yathā vā́jeṣu vipra vājínam átyam iva śávase sātáye dhánā víśvā dhánāni sātáye

Eager for riches, people have crafted this song for you, Indra, like a skillful craftsman building a chariot. We have made this praise to please you. We celebrate you like a strong, winning horse, ready to gain all the victories and bring back all the wealth!

Stanza 1.130.7

भि॒नत्पुरो॑ नव॒तिमि॑न्द्र पू॒रवे॒ दिवो॑दासाय॒ महि॑ दा॒शुषे॑ नृतो॒ वज्रे॑ण दा॒शुषे॑ नृतो | अ॒ति॒थि॒ग्वाय॒ शम्ब॑रं गि॒रेरु॒ग्रो अवा॑भरत् || म॒हो धना॑नि॒ दय॑मान॒ ओज॑सा॒ विश्वा॒ धना॒न्योज॑सा |

bhinát púro navatím indra pūráve dívodāsāya máhi dāśúṣe nr̥to vájreṇa dāśúṣe nr̥to atithigvā́ya śámbaraṁ girér ugró ávābharat mahó dhánāni dáyamāna ójasā víśvā dhánāny ójasā

Indra, you destroyed ninety forts for Pura and for Divodasa, your devotee! With your thunderbolt, you defeated Shambara, bringing down treasures from the mountain. You generously distributed all the wealth with your great strength!

Stanza 1.130.8

इन्द्रः॑ स॒मत्सु॒ यज॑मान॒मार्यं॒ प्राव॒द्विश्वे॑षु श॒तमू॑तिरा॒जिषु॒ स्व॑र्मीळ्हेष्वा॒जिषु॑ | मन॑वे॒ शास॑दव्र॒तान्त्वचं॑ कृ॒ष्णाम॑रन्धयत् || दक्ष॒न्न विश्वं॑ ततृषा॒णमो॑षति॒ न्य॑र्शसा॒नमो॑षति |

índraḥ samátsu yájamānam ā́ryam prā́vad víśveṣu śatámūtir ājíṣu svàrmīḷheṣv ājíṣu mánave śā́sad avratā́n tvácaṁ kr̥ṣṇā́m arandhayat dákṣan ná víśvaṁ tatr̥ṣāṇám oṣati ny àrśasānám oṣati

Indra helps his Aryan worshippers in battles, always offering support in every fight. He punishes the lawless, giving the dark-skinned enemies to Manu's people. Like a blazing fire, Indra burns away all greedy and tyrannical beings!

Stanza 1.130.9

सूर॑श्च॒क्रं प्र वृ॑हज्जा॒त ओज॑सा प्रपि॒त्वे वाच॑मरु॒णो मु॑षायतीशा॒न आ मु॑षायति | उ॒शना॒ यत्प॑रा॒वतोऽज॑गन्नू॒तये॑ कवे || सु॒म्नानि॒ विश्वा॒ मनु॑षेव तु॒र्वणि॒रहा॒ विश्वे॑व तु॒र्वणिः॑ |

sū́raś cakrám prá vr̥haj jātá ójasā prapitvé vā́cam aruṇó muṣāyatī 'śāná ā́ muṣāyati uśánā yát parāvátó 'jagann ūtáye kave sumnā́ni víśvā mánuṣeva turváṇir áhā víśveva turváṇiḥ

Like the dawn sun, Indra powerfully breaks forth! He seized the sun's disk and silenced his enemies, stealing their speech. You have come from afar to help, O wise Sage Indra! You bring all kinds of happiness and blessings to mankind, like a skilled helper serving everyone!

Stanza 1.130.10

स नो॒ नव्ये॑भिर्वृषकर्मन्नु॒क्थैः पुरां॑ दर्तः पा॒युभिः॑ पाहि श॒ग्मैः | दि॒वो॒दा॒सेभि॑रिन्द्र॒ स्तवा॑नो वावृधी॒था अहो॑भिरिव॒ द्यौः ||

sá no návyebhir vr̥ṣakarmann ukthaíḥ púrāṁ dartaḥ pāyúbhiḥ pāhi śagmaíḥ divodāsébhir indra stávāno vāvr̥dhīthā́ áhobhir iva dyaúḥ

O Indra, Shatterer of Forts, protect us with your powerful help, using our new praises! You are celebrated by Divodasa's people. May you grow in glory, Indra, just as the sky expands with each passing day!
