प्र ते॑ सो॒तार॑ ओ॒ण्यो॒३॒॑ रसं॒ मदा॑य॒ घृष्व॑ये | सर्गो॒ न त॒क्त्येत॑शः ||
prá te sotā́ra oṇyò rásam mádāya ghŕ̥ṣvaye sárgo ná takty étaśaḥ
O Soma, the pressers extract your essence with effort for joyous intoxication; it flows richly like a forceful stream.
The hymn describes the process of Soma being pressed and purified. The pressers extract the potent juice from the Soma plant, which is then prepared for an intoxicating and joyful offering. The juice is depicted as a powerful, flowing substance, likened to a flood.

With power and wisdom, we follow the Soma, which, enrobed in water and essence, wins wealth, and flows through the filtering material.
This stanza describes the act of purification of the Soma juice. It is filtered through a sieve, implied to be made of wool or some fine material. The juice, imbued with Soma's power and essence, is then said to envelop itself in water, possibly referring to its liquid form after pressing and filtration, and is associated with winning riches (cows).

Pour the unconquerable Soma, undiluted by waters, onto the purifying filter; make it pure for Indra to drink.
This is an imperative verse, a direct command to pour the Soma juice onto the filter. The Soma is described as potent, not diminished by water ('anaptam apsu' - without water in the waters, suggesting its concentrated form before dilution or its essential nature), and difficult to overcome or contain. The goal is to purify it for Indra's consumption.

Stanza 9.16.4

Driven by the pure consciousness, the Soma flows forth through the sieve, and by wisdom, it settles into its proper place.
