ज॒ज्ञा॒नो नु श॒तक्र॑तु॒र्वि पृ॑च्छ॒दिति॑ मा॒तर॑म् | क उ॒ग्राः के ह॑ शृण्विरे ||

Just born, Indra of a hundred powers asked his mother: "Who are the mighty ones? Who are famed?"
Born anew, the powerful Indra, known for his hundred powers, asks his mother about the mighty ones and who are renowned. This is a moment of seeking knowledge and understanding about the world and its influential beings.

ā́d īṁ śavasy àbravīd aurṇavābhám ahīśúvam té putra santu niṣṭúraḥ
Then Śavasin said to Aurṇavābha: "Son, these are the ones you must conquer."
Then, named Śavasin, he addressed Aurṇavābha and Ahīśuva, calling them 'son'. He instructed them that these named individuals should be conquered or overcome.

The slayer of Vritra struck them all down, as spokes are hammered into the hub; the slayer of Dasyus grew mighty.
The slayer of Vritra (Indra) completely struck down those foes. He pounded them like spokes driven into the hub of a wheel. In this process, the slayer of the Dasyus (Indra) grew stronger and more powerful.
