Stanza 8.56.1

प्रति॑ ते दस्यवे वृक॒ राधो॑ अद॒र्श्यह्र॑यम् | द्यौर्न प्र॑थि॒ना शवः॑ ||

práti te dasyave vr̥ka rā́dho adarśy áhrayam dyaúr ná prathinā́ śávaḥ

O wolf-like one, your inexhaustible gift has been revealed to you (or perhaps 'to the divine'), like the sky, its immense power is evident.

Stanza 8.56.2

दश॒ मह्यं॑ पौतक्र॒तः स॒हस्रा॒ दस्य॑वे॒ वृकः॑ | नित्या॑द्रा॒यो अ॑मंहत ||

dáśa máhyam pautakratáḥ sahásrā dásyave vŕ̥kaḥ nítyād rāyó amaṁhata

Ten thousand (units of wealth) from his own riches, Pautakrata, the wolf-like one, generously bestowed upon me.

Stanza 8.56.3

श॒तं मे॑ गर्द॒भानां॑ श॒तमूर्णा॑वतीनाम् | श॒तं दा॒साँ अति॒ स्रजः॑ ||

śatám me gardabhā́nāṁ śatám ū́rṇāvatīnām śatáṁ dāsā́m̐ áti srájaḥ

He gave me a hundred asses, a hundred wool-bearing animals, and a hundred slaves, along with garlands.

Stanza 8.56.4

तत्रो॒ अपि॒ प्राणी॑यत पू॒तक्र॑तायै॒ व्य॑क्ता | अश्वा॑ना॒मिन्न यू॒थ्या॑म् ||

tátro ápi prā́ṇīyata pūtákratāyai vyàktā áśvānām ín ná yūthyāā̀m

There, a distinguished mare was led forth for Pautakrata, not one from the common herd of horses.

Stanza 8.56.5

अचे॑त्य॒ग्निश्चि॑कि॒तुर्ह॑व्य॒वाट् स सु॒मद्र॑थः | अ॒ग्निः शु॒क्रेण॑ शो॒चिषा॑ बृ॒हत्सूरो॑ अरोचत दि॒वि सूर्यो॑ अरोचत ||

ácety agníś cikitúr havyavā́ṭ sá sumádrathaḥ agníḥ śukréṇa śocíṣā br̥hát sū́ro arocata diví sū́ryo arocata

Observant Agni, the bearer of offerings, with his magnificent chariot, shone with his pure and bright flame, just as the Sun shines brilliantly in the sky.
