O heroes, looking to you and your alliance, with broad axes, eager for bounty, you advanced. You both, Indra and Varuṇa, aided Sudās, having struck down the Dāsa and the Āryans.

Stanza 7.83.2

Where men with banners raised gather for battle, in which encounter there is nothing pleasant, where beings fear the sight of the sky, there, O Indra and Varuṇa, speak for us.

Stanza 7.83.3

The boundaries of the earth appeared engulfed in dust; O Indra and Varuṇa, a clamor rose to the sky. Hostilities of people have come around me. Come down with your aid, O you who hear calls.

Stanza 7.83.4

O Indra and Varuṇa, with irresistible weapons, conquering Bheda, you aided Sudās. Hear their prayers; the priestly service of the Tr̥tsus became effective.

Stanza 7.83.5

O Indra and Varuṇa, wicked acts and the hatred of enemies press upon me. Since you rule over both wealth and possessions, grant us protection on that decisive day.

Stanza 7.83.6

Both sides invoked you two in battles for wealth, O Indra and Varuṇa. You aided Sudās with the Tr̥tsus, when he was pressed by the ten kings.

Stanza 7.83.7

The ten kings, allied and not worshipping, did not fight against Sudās, O Indra and Varuṇa. The praise of the men at the feast was true; the gods favored their invocations.

Stanza 7.83.8

O Indra and Varuṇa, you aided Sudās when surrounded by the ten kings. Where the white-clad Tr̥tsus, with braided hair and skilled in thought, worshipped with homage.

Stanza 7.83.9

One slays the Vritras in battle, the other protects the vows. We call on you, O mighty ones, with praise. O Indra and Varuṇa, grant us protection.

Stanza 7.83.10

May Indra, Varuṇa, Mitra, and Aryaman grant us glory and wide protection. We reflect upon the unfailing light of Aditi, supporter of order, and the praise of the god Savitar.
