We have crossed beyond the limits of this darkness, while, devoted to the gods, we offered praise. The hymn calls to the Ashvins, ancient, great, and immortal performers of wonders.
The poets, having completed their religious rites and sung praises, have successfully overcome a period of darkness or ignorance. They invoke the divine twin horsemen, the Ashvins, who are described as ancient, powerful, and capable of great wonders, calling them to their ceremony with their hymn.

We have sent forth the sacrifice along its path, O vigorous ones, accept this excellent praise. O Ashvins, you have been aroused, as if sent, by me, Vashishtha, eager with hymns.
The priest, Vashishtha, who feels inspired and connected to the divine, addresses the Ashvins as powerful and vigorous beings. He states that they have set forth the sacrificial ritual and are now inviting the Ashvins to accept this praise and the well-performed ceremony. Vashishtha, acting as their devoted servant, awakens them with his hymns and prayers.
