यद॒द्य सू॑र्य॒ ब्रवोऽना॑गा उ॒द्यन्मि॒त्राय॒ वरु॑णाय स॒त्यम् | व॒यं दे॑व॒त्रादि॑ते स्याम॒ तव॑ प्रि॒यासो॑ अर्यमन्गृ॒णन्तः॑ ||
yád adyá sūrya brávó 'nāgā udyán mitrā́ya váruṇāya satyám vayáṁ devatrā́dite syāma táva priyā́so aryaman gr̥ṇántaḥ
When you, O Sun, rise today blamelessly, speaking truth to Mitra and Varuna, may we, O Aditi, be favored by all gods, and you, O Aryaman, while we sing.

This Sun, O Mitra and Varuna, a beholder of men, rises up into both realms (sky and earth), the guardian of all that is still and all that moves, seeing the upright and the crooked among mortals.

Your nourishing and sweet horses have ascended; the Sun has risen into the shining expanse. For whom the Adityas prepare the path, Mitra, Aryaman, and Varuna are in agreement.

These Mitra and Varuna, who are unassailable, quicken even the unthinking with their understanding. And, awakening, they guide even the wise, who are thoughtful, to good paths beyond difficulty.
This verse extols Mitra and Varuna as deceivers cannot trick. With their sharp intellect ('dakshaih'), they awaken even the ignorant to understanding. They also help those who possess wisdom to navigate through difficulties and reach better paths, overcoming troubles.

When Aditi, Mitra, and Varuna, as protectors, grant protective good to Sudas, placing offspring and descendants in him, may we, O powerful ones, not commit an offense against the gods.

This verse describes the reward for devotion. One who seeks divine favor ('sumatim') through worship and thereby gains strength and wealth, finds that the powerful gods ('maghavanah') follow his intentions. They have established a comfortable dwelling for him.

This priestly function, O Gods, Mitra and Varuna, has been performed for you in the sacrifices. Fill in all obstacles and overcome them for us. You, O gods, always protect us with well-being.
This verse concludes the hymn with a dedication. The speaker acknowledges that the priestly duty ('purohitiḥ') has been performed for Mitra and Varuna in the sacrifices. They pray that the gods help them overcome all difficult obstacles ('durgā') and always protect them with blessings and well-being.
