Stanza 7.55.1

अ॒मी॒व॒हा वा॑स्तोष्पते॒ विश्वा॑ रू॒पाण्या॑वि॒शन् | सखा॑ सु॒शेव॑ एधि नः ||

amīvahā́ vāstoṣ pate víśvā rūpā́ṇy āviśán sákhā suśéva edhi naḥ

O Dwelling Master, dispeller of all sickness, who fills all forms, become our friendly and benevolent protector.

Stanza 7.55.2

यद॑र्जुन सारमेय द॒तः पि॑शङ्ग॒ यच्छ॑से | वी॑व भ्राजन्त ऋ॒ष्टय॒ उप॒ स्रक्वे॑षु॒ बप्स॑तो॒ नि षु स्व॑प ||

yád arjuna sārameya datáḥ piśaṅga yáchase vīā̀va bhrājanta r̥ṣṭáya úpa srákveṣu bápsato ní ṣú svapa

O bright one, son of Sarama, when you bare your tawny teeth like shining lances, retreat and sleep.

Stanza 7.55.3

स्ते॒नं रा॑य सारमेय॒ तस्क॑रं वा पुनःसर | स्तो॒तॄनिन्द्र॑स्य रायसि॒ किम॒स्मान्दु॑च्छुनायसे॒ नि षु स्व॑प ||

stenáṁ rāya sārameya táskaraṁ vā punaḥsara stotr̥ŕ̥n índrasya rāyasi kím asmā́n duchunāyase ní ṣú svapa

O son of Sarama, turn back from the thief and the robber. Why do you bark at Indra's singers? Why do you seek to frighten us? Go to sleep.

Stanza 7.55.4

त्वं सू॑क॒रस्य॑ दर्दृहि॒ तव॑ दर्दर्तु सूक॒रः | स्तो॒तॄनिन्द्र॑स्य रायसि॒ किम॒स्मान्दु॑च्छुनायसे॒ नि षु स्व॑प ||

tváṁ sūkarásya dardr̥hi táva dardartu sūkaráḥ stotr̥ŕ̥n índrasya rāyasi kím asmā́n duchunāyase ní ṣú svapa

You be wary of the boar, and let the boar be wary of you. Why do you bark at Indra's singers? Why do you seek to frighten us? Go to sleep.

Stanza 7.55.5

सस्तु॑ मा॒ता सस्तु॑ पि॒ता सस्तु॒ श्वा सस्तु॑ वि॒श्पतिः॑ | स॒सन्तु॒ सर्वे॑ ज्ञा॒तयः॒ सस्त्व॒यम॒भितो॒ जनः॑ ||

sástu mātā́ sástu pitā́ sástu śvā́ sástu viśpátiḥ sasántu sárve jñātáyaḥ sástv ayám abhíto jánaḥ

Let the mother sleep, let the father sleep, let the dog sleep, let the master of the house sleep. Let all relatives sleep; let all these people around sleep.

Stanza 7.55.6

य आस्ते॒ यश्च॒ चर॑ति॒ यश्च॒ पश्य॑ति नो॒ जनः॑ | तेषां॒ सं ह॑न्मो अ॒क्षाणि॒ यथे॒दं ह॒र्म्यं तथा॑ ||

yá ā́ste yáś ca cárati yáś ca páśyati no jánaḥ téṣāṁ sáṁ hanmo akṣā́ṇi yáthedáṁ harmyáṁ táthā

Whosoever sits, whosoever walks, and whosoever sees us, we shall close the eyes of all of them, just as this house is closed.

Stanza 7.55.7

स॒हस्र॑शृङ्गो वृष॒भो यः स॑मु॒द्रादु॒दाच॑रत् | तेना॑ सह॒स्ये॑ना व॒यं नि जना॑न्त्स्वापयामसि ||

sahásraśr̥ṅgo vr̥ṣabhó yáḥ samudrā́d udā́carat ténā sahasyènā vayáṁ ní jánān svāpayāmasi

We, with that strong one, the bull with a thousand horns who rose from the ocean, lull the people to sleep.

Stanza 7.55.8

प्रो॒ष्ठे॒श॒या व॑ह्येश॒या नारी॒र्यास्त॑ल्प॒शीव॑रीः | स्त्रियो॒ याः पुण्य॑गन्धा॒स्ताः सर्वाः॑ स्वापयामसि ||

proṣṭheśayā́ vahyeśayā́ nā́rīr yā́s talpaśī́varīḥ stríyo yā́ḥ púṇyagandhās tā́ḥ sárvāḥ svāpayāmasi

The women sleeping in the courtyard, those lying outside, those on beds, the women with pleasant fragrance – we cause all of them to sleep.
