Stanza 7.23.1

úd u bráhmāṇy airata śravasyéndraṁ samaryé mahayā vasiṣṭha ā́ yó víśvāni śávasā tatā́nopaśrotā́ ma ī́vato vácāṁsi

Lifted up by the desire for glory, Vasishtha, praise Indra in the assembly of warriors. He who, by his strength, has extended over all existence, may he, attentive, hear my words, as I speak to him.

Stanza 7.23.2

áyāmi ghóṣa indra devájāmir irajyánta yác churúdho vívāci nahí svám ā́yuś cikité jáneṣu tā́nī́d áṁhāṁsy áti parṣy asmā́n

A cry, pleasing to the gods, arose, O Indra, for strength. No one among men knows the span of his own life; may you carry us across these dangers.

Stanza 7.23.3

yujé ráthaṁ gavéṣaṇaṁ háribhyām úpa bráhmāṇi jujuṣāṇám asthuḥ ví bādhiṣṭa syá ródasī mahitvéndro vr̥trā́ṇy apratī́ jaghanvā́n

I harness the chariot, seeking cows, to the horses; my prayers have reached him who accepted them with joy. Indra, when he had overcome the resistances, forcefully separated the two worlds with his might.

Stanza 7.23.4

ā́paś cit pipyu staryò ná gā́vo nákṣann r̥táṁ jaritā́ras ta indra yāhí vāyúr ná niyúto no áchā tváṁ hí dhībhír dáyase ví vā́jān

The waters swelled, not like cows (giving sustenance); the singers sought the truth for you, O Indra. Come to us like the wind with its teams; you indeed bestow riches through our thoughts.

Stanza 7.23.5

té tvā mádā indra mādayantu śuṣmíṇaṁ tuvirā́dhasaṁ jaritré éko devatrā́ dáyase hí mártān asmíñ chūra sávane mādayasva

May these exhilarations, O Indra, gladden you, the strong, the abundant giver to the singer. Alone among the gods you bestow favour on mortals; rejoice, O Hero, in this offering.

Stanza 7.23.6

evéd índraṁ vŕ̥ṣaṇaṁ vájrabāhuṁ vásiṣṭhāso abhy àrcanty arkaíḥ sá na stutó vīrávad dhātu gómad yūyám pāta svastíbhiḥ sádā naḥ

Thus the Vasishthas praise Indra, the powerful, the thunderbolt-wielder, with hymns. May he, being praised, grant us strength and cattle. You gods, protect us always with blessings.
