Stanza 7.21.1

असा॑वि दे॒वं गोऋ॑जीक॒मन्धो॒ न्य॑स्मि॒न्निन्द्रो॑ ज॒नुषे॑मुवोच | बोधा॑मसि त्वा हर्यश्व य॒ज्ञैर्बोधा॑ नः॒ स्तोम॒मन्ध॑सो॒ मदे॑षु ||

ásāvi deváṁ gór̥jīkam ándho ny àsminn índro janúṣem uvoca bódhāmasi tvā haryaśva yajñaír bódhā na stómam ándhaso mádeṣu

The divine Soma juice, mixed with milk, is pressed out. Indra is accustomed to this. We awaken you, O Indra with the swift horses, through our sacrifices. Hear our hymn of praise amidst the intoxication of the Soma drink.

Stanza 7.21.2

प्र य॑न्ति य॒ज्ञं वि॒पय॑न्ति ब॒र्हिः सो॑म॒मादो॑ वि॒दथे॑ दु॒ध्रवा॑चः | न्यु॑ भ्रियन्ते य॒शसो॑ गृ॒भादा दू॒रउ॑पब्दो॒ वृष॑णो नृ॒षाचः॑ ||

prá yanti yajñáṁ vipáyanti barhíḥ somamā́do vidáthe dudhrávācaḥ ny ù bhriyante yaśáso gr̥bhā́d ā́ dūrá .upabdo vŕ̥ṣaṇo nr̥ṣā́caḥ

They move towards the sacrifice, they prepare the sacred grass for the Soma drinkers. The Soma and the pressing stones are brought to the assembly. The famous, strong pressing stones, which are ready to help warriors, are brought forth.

Stanza 7.21.3

त्वमि॑न्द्र॒ स्रवि॑त॒वा अ॒पस्कः॒ परि॑ष्ठिता॒ अहि॑ना शूर पू॒र्वीः | त्वद्वा॑वक्रे र॒थ्यो॒३॒॑ न धेना॒ रेज॑न्ते॒ विश्वा॑ कृ॒त्रिमा॑णि भी॒षा ||

tvám indra srávitavā́ apás kaḥ páriṣṭhitā áhinā śūra pūrvī́ḥ tvád vāvakre rathyò ná dhénā réjante víśvā kr̥trímāṇi bhīṣā́

O Indra, hero, you released the waters that were held bound by the serpent. The rivers flowed like chariots. All created things tremble in fear.

Stanza 7.21.4

भी॒मो वि॑वे॒षायु॑धेभिरेषा॒मपां॑सि॒ विश्वा॒ नर्या॑णि वि॒द्वान् | इन्द्रः॒ पुरो॒ जर्हृ॑षाणो॒ वि दू॑धो॒द्वि वज्र॑हस्तो महि॒ना ज॑घान ||

bhīmó viveṣā́yudhebhir eṣām ápāṁsi víśvā náryāṇi vidvā́n índraḥ púro járhr̥ṣāṇo ví dūdhod ví vájrahasto mahinā́ jaghāna

Indra, skilled in all manly deeds, has conquered them with his weapons. He has destroyed their strongholds and slain them with his might, the thunderbolt-wielder.

Stanza 7.21.5

न या॒तव॑ इन्द्र जूजुवुर्नो॒ न वन्द॑ना शविष्ठ वे॒द्याभिः॑ | स श॑र्धद॒र्यो विषु॑णस्य ज॒न्तोर्मा शि॒श्नदे॑वा॒ अपि॑ गुर्ऋ॒तं नः॑ ||

ná yātáva indra jūjuvur no ná vándanā śaviṣṭha vedyā́bhiḥ sá śardhad aryó víṣuṇasya jantór mā́ śiśnádevā ápi gur r̥táṁ naḥ

May hostile spirits not harm us, O Indra, nor wicked beings with their schemes. May our powerful Indra subdue the enemies. May those who disrespect the divine not approach our sacred ritual.

Stanza 7.21.6

अ॒भि क्रत्वे॑न्द्र भू॒रध॒ ज्मन्न ते॑ विव्यङ्महि॒मानं॒ रजां॑सि | स्वेना॒ हि वृ॒त्रं शव॑सा ज॒घन्थ॒ न शत्रु॒रन्तं॑ विविदद्यु॒धा ते॑ ||

abhí krátvendra bhūr ádha jmán ná te vivyaṅ mahimā́naṁ rájāṁsi svénā hí vr̥tráṁ śávasā jaghántha ná śátrur ántaṁ vividad yudhā́ te

You surpass Earth and Heaven in power, O Indra. The regions cannot encompass your greatness. With your own strength, you destroyed Vṛtra; no enemy has ever found the limit of your might in battle.

Stanza 7.21.7

दे॒वाश्चि॑त्ते असु॒र्या॑य॒ पूर्वेऽनु॑ क्ष॒त्राय॑ ममिरे॒ सहां॑सि | इन्द्रो॑ म॒घानि॑ दयते वि॒षह्येन्द्रं॒ वाज॑स्य जोहुवन्त सा॒तौ ||

devā́ś cit te asuryāā̀ya pū́rvé 'nu kṣatrā́ya mamire sáhāṁsi índro maghā́ni dayate viṣáhyéndraṁ vā́jasya johuvanta sātaú

Even the earlier gods submitted their powers to your divine dominion, O Indra. Indra bestows wealth. Men, in the struggle for spoils, call upon Indra.

Stanza 7.21.8

की॒रिश्चि॒द्धि त्वामव॑से जु॒हावेशा॑नमिन्द्र॒ सौभ॑गस्य॒ भूरेः॑ | अवो॑ बभूथ शतमूते अ॒स्मे अ॑भिक्ष॒त्तुस्त्वाव॑तो वरू॒ता ||

kīríś cid dhí tvā́m ávase juhā́véśānam indra saúbhagasya bhū́reḥ ávo babhūtha śatamūte asmé abhikṣattús tvā́vato varūtā́

Even the humble has called upon you, O Indra, for protection and for your abundant fortune. You have become our helper with a hundred aids. He who gives gifts like you has a protector.

Stanza 7.21.9

सखा॑यस्त इन्द्र वि॒श्वह॑ स्याम नमोवृ॒धासो॑ महि॒ना त॑रुत्र | व॒न्वन्तु॑ स्मा॒ तेऽव॑सा समी॒के॒३॒॑ऽभी॑तिम॒र्यो व॒नुषां॒ शवां॑सि ||

sákhāyas ta indra viśváha syāma namovr̥dhā́so mahinā́ tarutra vanvántu smā té 'vasā samīkè 'bhīā̀tim aryó vanúṣāṁ śávāṁsi

May we be your friends forever, O Indra, eagerly and with great might. May our strength, through your aid, conquer the enemy's assaults in the conflict.

Stanza 7.21.10

स न॑ इन्द्र॒ त्वय॑ताया इ॒षे धा॒स्त्मना॑ च॒ ये म॒घवा॑नो जु॒नन्ति॑ | वस्वी॒ षु ते॑ जरि॒त्रे अ॑स्तु श॒क्तिर्यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ||

sá na indra tváyatāyā iṣé dhās tmánā ca yé maghávāno junánti vásvī ṣú te jaritré astu śaktír yūyám pāta svastíbhiḥ sádā naḥ

Grant us food, O Indra, and sustain us and the wealthy patrons who invoke you. May your power be beneficial to the singer. May you always protect us with blessings.
