Stanza 7.20.1

उ॒ग्रो ज॑ज्ञे वी॒र्या॑य स्व॒धावा॒ञ्चक्रि॒रपो॒ नर्यो॒ यत्क॑रि॒ष्यन् | जग्मि॒र्युवा॑ नृ॒षद॑न॒मवो॑भिस्त्रा॒ता न॒ इन्द्र॒ एन॑सो म॒हश्चि॑त् ||

ugró jajñe vīryāā̀ya svadhā́vāñ cákrir ápo náryo yát kariṣyán jágmir yúvā nr̥ṣádanam ávobhis trātā́ na índra énaso maháś cit

The mighty one was born for valor, endowed with his own power, a protector and a human's friend, he does whatever he intends to do. With his help, O Indra, the youthful one, savior from great sin, he comes to the human dwelling.

Stanza 7.20.2

हन्ता॑ वृ॒त्रमिन्द्रः॒ शूशु॑वानः॒ प्रावी॒न्नु वी॒रो ज॑रि॒तार॑मू॒ती | कर्ता॑ सु॒दासे॒ अह॒ वा उ॑ लो॒कं दाता॒ वसु॒ मुहु॒रा दा॒शुषे॑ भूत् ||

hántā vr̥trám índraḥ śū́śuvānaḥ prā́vīn nú vīró jaritā́ram ūtī́ kártā sudā́se áha vā́ ulokáṁ dā́tā vásu múhur ā́ dāśúṣe bhūt

Indra, the powerful one, has slain Vritra. The hero has protected the singer with his might. He created space for Sudas and has often given wealth to the sacrificer.

Stanza 7.20.3

यु॒ध्मो अ॑न॒र्वा ख॑ज॒कृत्स॒मद्वा॒ शूरः॑ सत्रा॒षाड्ज॒नुषे॒मषा॑ळ्हः | व्या॑स॒ इन्द्रः॒ पृत॑नाः॒ स्वोजा॒ अधा॒ विश्वं॑ शत्रू॒यन्तं॑ जघान ||

yudhmó anarvā́ khajakŕ̥t samádvā śū́raḥ satrāṣā́ḍ janúṣem áṣāḷhaḥ vy āā̀sa índraḥ pŕ̥tanāḥ svójā ádhā víśvaṁ śatrūyántaṁ jaghāna

The warrior, unrestrained and battle-rouser, the hero, always victorious, unconquered by birth, Indra, the mighty one, has scattered the armies. He has indeed destroyed all who wished to fight.

Stanza 7.20.4

उ॒भे चि॑दिन्द्र॒ रोद॑सी महि॒त्वा प॑प्राथ॒ तवि॑षीभिस्तुविष्मः | नि वज्र॒मिन्द्रो॒ हरि॑वा॒न्मिमि॑क्ष॒न्त्समन्ध॑सा॒ मदे॑षु॒ वा उ॑वोच ||

ubhé cid indra ródasī mahitvā́ paprātha táviṣībhis tuviṣmaḥ ní vájram índro hárivān mímikṣan sám ándhasā mádeṣu vā́ uvoca

O Indra, with your greatness you have filled both worlds with might. O most mighty one, Indra, bearer of bays, brandishing the thunderbolt, is satisfied with Soma in the feasts.

Stanza 7.20.5

वृषा॑ जजान॒ वृष॑णं॒ रणा॑य॒ तमु॑ चि॒न्नारी॒ नर्यं॑ ससूव | प्र यः से॑ना॒नीरध॒ नृभ्यो॒ अस्ती॒नः सत्वा॑ ग॒वेष॑णः॒ स धृ॒ष्णुः ||

vŕ̥ṣā jajāna vŕ̥ṣaṇaṁ ráṇāya tám u cin nā́rī náryaṁ sasūva prá yáḥ senānī́r ádha nŕ̥bhyo ástīnáḥ sátvā gavéṣaṇaḥ sá dhr̥ṣṇúḥ

The strong one begot the strong one for battle; a manly mother bore him. He who is the leader of men, the powerful, the courageous, the seeker of wealth, he is indeed strong.

Stanza 7.20.6

नू चि॒त्स भ्रे॑षते॒ जनो॒ न रे॑ष॒न्मनो॒ यो अ॑स्य घो॒रमा॒विवा॑सात् | य॒ज्ञैर्य इन्द्रे॒ दध॑ते॒ दुवां॑सि॒ क्षय॒त्स रा॒य ऋ॑त॒पा ऋ॑ते॒जाः ||

nū́ cit sá bhreṣate jáno ná reṣan máno yó asya ghorám āvívāsāt yajñaír yá índre dádhate dúvāṁsi kṣáyat sá rāyá r̥tapā́ r̥tejā́ḥ

Indeed, the people do not falter, nor do they suffer harm, who strive for his terrible power. Those who place offerings in Indra through sacrifices, he becomes lord of wealth, upholder of order, born of order.

Stanza 7.20.7

यदि॑न्द्र॒ पूर्वो॒ अप॑राय॒ शिक्ष॒न्नय॒ज्ज्याया॒न्कनी॑यसो दे॒ष्णम् | अ॒मृत॒ इत्पर्या॑सीत दू॒रमा चि॑त्र॒ चित्र्यं॑ भरा र॒यिं नः॑ ||

yád indra pū́rvo áparāya śíkṣann áyaj jyā́yān kánīyaso deṣṇám amŕ̥ta ít páry āsīta dūrám ā́ citra cítryam bharā rayíṁ naḥ

If, O Indra, the elder seeks to help the younger, the greater comes to the lesser's place. Will the immortal remain inactive? O wondrous Indra, bring us wondrous wealth.

Stanza 7.20.8

यस्त॑ इन्द्र प्रि॒यो जनो॒ ददा॑श॒दस॑न्निरे॒के अ॑द्रिवः॒ सखा॑ ते | व॒यं ते॑ अ॒स्यां सु॑म॒तौ चनि॑ष्ठाः॒ स्याम॒ वरू॑थे॒ अघ्न॑तो॒ नृपी॑तौ ||

yás ta indra priyó jáno dádāśad ásan nireké adrivaḥ sákhā te vayáṁ te asyā́ṁ sumataú cániṣṭhāḥ syā́ma várūthe ághnato nŕ̥pītau

Whose dear people, O Indra, offer oblations, they are your friends in the highest place, O thunder-wielder. May we be the best in your favor, protected by you, the non-slayer, in your embrace.

Stanza 7.20.9

ए॒ष स्तोमो॑ अचिक्रद॒द्वृषा॑ त उ॒त स्ता॒मुर्म॑घवन्नक्रपिष्ट | रा॒यस्कामो॑ जरि॒तारं॑ त॒ आग॒न्त्वम॒ङ्ग श॑क्र॒ वस्व॒ आ श॑को नः ||

eṣá stómo acikradad vŕ̥ṣā ta utá stāmúr maghavann akrapiṣṭa rāyás kā́mo jaritā́raṁ ta ā́gan tvám aṅgá śakra vásva ā́ śako naḥ

This mighty hymn has cried out to you, O Maghavan, and the eloquent appeal has been made. Desire for wealth has come to your singer; grant us, O powerful Indra, wealth.

Stanza 7.20.10

स न॑ इन्द्र॒ त्वय॑ताया इ॒षे धा॒स्त्मना॑ च॒ ये म॒घवा॑नो जु॒नन्ति॑ | वस्वी॒ षु ते॑ जरि॒त्रे अ॑स्तु श॒क्तिर्यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः ||

sá na indra tváyatāyā iṣé dhās tmánā ca yé maghávāno junánti vásvī ṣú te jaritré astu śaktír yūyám pāta svastíbhiḥ sádā naḥ

O Indra, place us with the wealthy who serve you, for nourishment. May your power be for the singer. You Gods, protect us always with blessings.
