इ॒ममू॒ षु वो॒ अति॑थिमुष॒र्बुधं॒ विश्वा॑सां वि॒शां पति॑मृञ्जसे गि॒रा | वेतीद्दि॒वो ज॒नुषा॒ कच्चि॒दा शुचि॒र्ज्योक्चि॑दत्ति॒ गर्भो॒ यदच्यु॑तम् ||
imám ū ṣú vo átithim uṣarbúdhaṁ víśvāsāṁ viśā́m pátim r̥ñjase girā́ vétī́d divó janúṣā kác cid ā́ śúcir jyók cid atti gárbho yád ácyutam
I approach this guest of yours, the one who wakes with the dawn, the lord of all tribes, with this song. He comes from the sky, this pure one, from birth. May he eat, this child, what is eternal.

Like a well-established friend whom the Bhrigus placed in the forest, with upward flames, Agni is revered. You, O wondrous one, are pleased and magnified each day with praises by Vitahavya.

O Agni, do you protect him, do you deliver him who brings you prayer, O Hero? Do you grant insight into the beginning or end of the sacrifice? You indeed fulfill with strength and wealth.

Agni, the priest, the house-lord, the king, knows all origins, the knower of all. He is the best worshipper of gods and mortals. May he, the truthful, begin the sacrifice.

O Agni, priest, whatever you enjoy today from the sacrifice, you are the worshipper and performer. You expand with greatness. Carry, O youngest one, your offerings.

Look upon the well-prepared offerings. The gods would establish you for worship. Help us, O liberal Agni, in the contest for wealth, so that we may overcome all troubles. Let us overcome them with your help.

The wise ones, as Atharvan did, rub this Agni forth. They brought him, moving through winding ways, not bewildered, from the darkness.
