Stanza 6.1.1

त्वं ह्य॑ग्ने प्रथ॒मो म॒नोता॒स्या धि॒यो अभ॑वो दस्म॒ होता॑ | त्वं सीं॑ वृषन्नकृणोर्दु॒ष्टरी॑तु॒ सहो॒ विश्व॑स्मै॒ सह॑से॒ सह॑ध्यै ||

tváṁ hy àgne prathamó manótāsyā́ dhiyó ábhavo dasma hótā tváṁ sīṁ vr̥ṣann akr̥ṇor duṣṭárītu sáho víśvasmai sáhase sáhadhyai

You, O Agni, were the first to conceive this hymn. You became the marvelous priest and offerer. You, O powerful one, have given us strength that cannot be conquered, and the power to withstand all opposition.

Stanza 6.1.2

अधा॒ होता॒ न्य॑सीदो॒ यजी॑यानि॒ळस्प॒द इ॒षय॒न्नीड्यः॒ सन् | तं त्वा॒ नरः॑ प्रथ॒मं दे॑व॒यन्तो॑ म॒हो रा॒ये चि॒तय॑न्तो॒ अनु॑ ग्मन् ||

ádhā hótā ny àsīdo yájīyān iḷás padá iṣáyann ī́ḍyaḥ sán táṁ tvā náraḥ prathamáṁ devayánto mahó rāyé citáyanto ánu gman

Then, O Agni, as the most worshipful priest, you sat down in the seat of worship, stimulating us. Men, seeking the divine and great wealth, have followed and pondered upon you.

Stanza 6.1.3

वृ॒तेव॒ यन्तं॑ ब॒हुभि॑र्वस॒व्यै॒३॒॑स्त्वे र॒यिं जा॑गृ॒वांसो॒ अनु॑ ग्मन् | रुश॑न्तम॒ग्निं द॑र्श॒तं बृ॒हन्तं॑ व॒पाव॑न्तं वि॒श्वहा॑ दीदि॒वांस॑म् ||

vr̥téva yántam bahúbhir vasavya .ìs tvé rayíṁ jāgr̥vā́ṁso ánu gman rúśantam agníṁ darśatám br̥hántaṁ vapā́vantaṁ viśváhā dīdivā́ṁsam

They, ever watchful, followed you, O Agni, who moves with abundant wealth like an army. Radiant, visible, immense, vital, and always shining, you are followed for riches.

Stanza 6.1.4

प॒दं दे॒वस्य॒ नम॑सा॒ व्यन्तः॑ श्रव॒स्यवः॒ श्रव॑ आप॒न्नमृ॑क्तम् | नामा॑नि चिद्दधिरे य॒ज्ञिया॑नि भ॒द्रायां॑ ते रणयन्त॒ संदृ॑ष्टौ ||

padáṁ devásya námasā vyántaḥ śravasyávaḥ śráva āpann ámr̥ktam nā́māni cid dadhire yajñíyāni bhadrā́yāṁ te raṇayanta sáṁdr̥ṣṭau

With reverence, those eager for glory approached the divine abode, attaining perfect and abundant glory. They took on sacred names and rejoiced in your auspicious presence, O Agni.

Stanza 6.1.5

त्वां व॑र्धन्ति क्षि॒तयः॑ पृथि॒व्यां त्वां राय॑ उ॒भया॑सो॒ जना॑नाम् | त्वं त्रा॒ता त॑रणे॒ चेत्यो॑ भूः पि॒ता मा॒ता सद॒मिन्मानु॑षाणाम् ||

tvā́ṁ vardhanti kṣitáyaḥ pr̥thivyā́ṁ tvā́ṁ rā́ya ubháyāso jánānām tváṁ trātā́ taraṇe cétyo bhūḥ pitā́ mātā́ sádam ín mā́nuṣāṇām

The inhabitants of the earth magnify you, O Agni, as do both earthly and celestial beings. You are the protector and must be known in times of difficulty. You are the father and mother of all humans, always.

Stanza 6.1.6

स॒प॒र्येण्यः॒ स प्रि॒यो वि॒क्ष्व१॒॑ग्निर्होता॑ म॒न्द्रो नि ष॑सादा॒ यजी॑यान् | तं त्वा॑ व॒यं दम॒ आ दी॑दि॒वांस॒मुप॑ ज्ञु॒बाधो॒ नम॑सा सदेम ||

saparyéṇyaḥ sá priyó vikṣv àgnír hótā mandró ní ṣasādā yájīyān táṁ tvā vayáṁ dáma ā́ dīdivā́ṁsam úpa jñubā́dho námasā sadema

Agni, the adorable and dear priest among the people, the joy-giving and most excellent offerer, has seated himself in his dwelling. May we, O shining one, approach you in your home, bowing low with reverence.

Stanza 6.1.7

तं त्वा॑ व॒यं सु॒ध्यो॒३॒॑ नव्य॑मग्ने सुम्ना॒यव॑ ईमहे देव॒यन्तः॑ | त्वं विशो॑ अनयो॒ दीद्या॑नो दि॒वो अ॑ग्ने बृह॒ता रो॑च॒नेन॑ ||

táṁ tvā vayáṁ sudhyò návyam agne sumnāyáva īmahe devayántaḥ tváṁ víśo anayo dī́dyāno divó agne br̥hatā́ rocanéna

We, with pure minds, seeking well-being, O Agni, approach you, the new one, devoted to the gods. O Agni, shining with heaven's great splendor, you led forth our people.

Stanza 6.1.8

वि॒शां क॒विं वि॒श्पतिं॒ शश्व॑तीनां नि॒तोश॑नं वृष॒भं च॑र्षणी॒नाम् | प्रेती॑षणिमि॒षय॑न्तं पाव॒कं राज॑न्तम॒ग्निं य॑ज॒तं र॑यी॒णाम् ||

viśā́ṁ kavíṁ viśpátiṁ śáśvatīnāṁ nitóśanaṁ vr̥ṣabháṁ carṣaṇīnā́m prétīṣaṇim iṣáyantam pāvakáṁ rā́jantam agníṁ yajatáṁ rayīṇā́m

Agni, the sage of the people, lord of all communities, bull of mankind, sender of blessings, promoter, purifier, the shining king, and honored master of riches.

Stanza 6.1.9

सो अ॑ग्न ईजे शश॒मे च॒ मर्तो॒ यस्त॒ आन॑ट् स॒मिधा॑ ह॒व्यदा॑तिम् | य आहु॑तिं॒ परि॒ वेदा॒ नमो॑भि॒र्विश्वेत्स वा॒मा द॑धते॒ त्वोतः॑ ||

só agna īje śaśamé ca márto yás ta ā́naṭ samídhā havyádātim yá ā́hutim pári védā námobhir víśvét sá vāmā́ dadhate tvótaḥ

That mortal who worships and has brought you oblations with fuel, O Agni, and perfectly knows sacrifice with reverence, obtains all joys, with you protecting him.

Stanza 6.1.10

अ॒स्मा उ॑ ते॒ महि॑ म॒हे वि॑धेम॒ नमो॑भिरग्ने स॒मिधो॒त ह॒व्यैः | वेदी॑ सूनो सहसो गी॒र्भिरु॒क्थैरा ते॑ भ॒द्रायां॑ सुम॒तौ य॑तेम ||

asmā́ u te máhi mahé vidhema námobhir agne samídhotá havyaíḥ védī sūno sahaso gīrbhír ukthaír ā́ te bhadrā́yāṁ sumataú yatema

May we worship you mightily, O Agni, with reverence, fuel, and offerings. May we worship you with the altar, songs, and hymns. May we strive for your auspicious favor and good will.

Stanza 6.1.11

आ यस्त॒तन्थ॒ रोद॑सी॒ वि भा॒सा श्रवो॑भिश्च श्रव॒स्य१॒॑स्तरु॑त्रः | बृ॒हद्भि॒र्वाजैः॒ स्थवि॑रेभिर॒स्मे रे॒वद्भि॑रग्ने वित॒रं वि भा॑हि ||

ā́ yás tatántha ródasī ví bhāsā́ śrávobhiś ca śravasyàs tárutraḥ br̥hádbhir vā́jai sthávirebhir asmé revádbhir agne vitaráṁ ví bhāhi

You, O Agni, have spread across heaven and earth with splendor and glories, being glorious and triumphant. Shine upon us, O Agni, with abundant resources, strength, and wealth.

Stanza 6.1.12

नृ॒वद्व॑सो॒ सद॒मिद्धे॑ह्य॒स्मे भूरि॑ तो॒काय॒ तन॑याय प॒श्वः | पू॒र्वीरिषो॑ बृह॒तीरा॒रेअ॑घा अ॒स्मे भ॒द्रा सौ॑श्रव॒सानि॑ सन्तु ||

nr̥vád vaso sádam íd dhehy asmé bhū́ri tokā́ya tánayāya paśváḥ pūrvī́r íṣo br̥hatī́r āré aghā asmé bhadrā́ sauśravasā́ni santu

O Vasu, grant us, as humans need, abundant cattle for children and offspring. May we have plentiful food, free from evil, and may good fame bring us happiness.

Stanza 6.1.13

पु॒रूण्य॑ग्ने पुरु॒धा त्वा॒या वसू॑नि राजन्व॒सुता॑ ते अश्याम् | पु॒रूणि॒ हि त्वे पु॑रुवार॒ सन्त्यग्ने॒ वसु॑ विध॒ते राज॑नि॒ त्वे ||

purū́ṇy agne purudhā́ tvāyā́ vásūni rājan vasútā te aśyām purū́ṇi hí tvé puruvāra sánty ágne vásu vidhaté rā́jani tvé

O Agni, King, may I obtain abundant wealth in many ways through your grace and worship. For in you, O bestower of many gifts, O King Agni, are many riches for the one who serves you.
