I praise the self-reliant Agni with salutations. May he sit here and distribute what we have made. I offer (sacrifices) as if with swift chariots; may I, turning them clockwise, magnify the hymn to the Maruts.
The stanza is a prayer to the deity Agni, who is invoked as "svavasam" (self-reliant or self-possessing). The poet expresses his devotion through salutations ("namobhih") and wishes for Agni to be present and to distribute the offerings received. The act of offering is compared to the swift movement of chariots, and the poet hopes to successfully amplify the praise of the Maruts.

At your shouting, even the large mountain fears, and the ridge of heaven trembles. When you play together, O Maruts, armed with spears, you move together like waters.
The immense power of the Maruts is further emphasized as their roaring sound causes fear even in large mountains and makes the peaks of heaven tremble. When they engage in playful activity, armed with spears, they move together like a unified flow of water, demonstrating their collective strength and dynamism.
