Stanza 5.20.1

yám agne vājasātama tváṁ cin mányase rayím táṁ no gīrbhíḥ śravā́yyaṁ devatrā́ panayā yújam

O Agni, best winner of wealth, you yourself consider this wealth true. Bring that wealth to us, through our songs, among the gods, as a worthy companion.

Stanza 5.20.2

yé agne néráyanti te vr̥ddhā́ ugrásya śávasaḥ ápa dvéṣo ápa hváro 'nyávratasya saścire

O Agni, those who do not stir (offerings/prayers) for you, though they have grown strong with mighty power, they turn away. They associate with the hatred and deceit of one who follows a different, wrong way.

Stanza 5.20.3

hótāraṁ tvā vr̥ṇīmahé 'gne dákṣasya sā́dhanam yajñéṣu pūrvyáṁ girā́ práyasvanto havāmahe

We choose you, Agni, as the Hotri (priest), the achiever of skill. We, who are joyful with offerings, call you with our hymns, the foremost one in the sacrifices.

Stanza 5.20.4

itthā́ yáthā ta ūtáye sáhasāvan divé-dive rāyá r̥tā́ya sukrato góbhiḥ ṣyāma sadhamā́do vīraíḥ syāma sadhamā́daḥ

Thus, O powerful one, may we, day by day, for your protection, for wealth and cosmic order, O wise one, rejoice with cows and rejoice with heroes.
