    Stanza 5.16.1

    बृ॒हद्वयो॒ हि भा॒नवेऽर्चा॑ दे॒वाया॒ग्नये॑ | यं मि॒त्रं न प्रश॑स्तिभि॒र्मर्ता॑सो दधि॒रे पु॒रः ||

    br̥hád váyo hí bhānávé 'rcā devā́yāgnáye yám mitráṁ ná práśastibhir mártāso dadhiré puráḥ

    Indeed, mighty brilliance is in the light. Sing praise to the god Agni, whom mortals have placed in the forefront with their praises, like Mitra.

    Stanza 5.16.2

    स हि द्युभि॒र्जना॑नां॒ होता॒ दक्ष॑स्य बा॒ह्वोः | वि ह॒व्यम॒ग्निरा॑नु॒षग्भगो॒ न वार॑मृण्वति ||

    sá hí dyúbhir jánānāṁ hótā dákṣasya bāhvóḥ ví havyám agnír ānuṣág bhágo ná vā́ram r̥ṇvati

    For he, Agni, is the priest of the people, who, through his power and might, day by day brings forth the offering. Like Bhaga, he grants auspicious favor.

    Stanza 5.16.3

    अ॒स्य स्तोमे॑ म॒घोनः॑ स॒ख्ये वृ॒द्धशो॑चिषः | विश्वा॒ यस्मि॑न्तुवि॒ष्वणि॒ सम॒र्ये शुष्म॑माद॒धुः ||

    asyá stóme maghónaḥ sakhyé vr̥ddháśociṣaḥ víśvā yásmin tuviṣváṇi sám aryé śúṣmam ādadhúḥ

    In his praise, in the friendship of the generous, brilliantly flaming one, in every great gathering, all beings have placed their strength together within him, the mighty one.

    Stanza 5.16.4

    अधा॒ ह्य॑ग्न एषां सु॒वीर्य॑स्य मं॒हना॑ | तमिद्य॒ह्वं न रोद॑सी॒ परि॒ श्रवो॑ बभूवतुः ||

    ádhā hy àgna eṣāṁ suvī́ryasya maṁhánā tám íd yahváṁ ná ródasī pári śrávo babhūvatuḥ

    May you, O Agni, bestow upon them heroic strength and wealth. Indeed, Heaven and Earth could not encompass his glorious fame, this youthful, vigorous one.

    Stanza 5.16.5

    नू न॒ एहि॒ वार्य॒मग्ने॑ गृणा॒न आ भ॑र | ये व॒यं ये च॑ सू॒रयः॑ स्व॒स्ति धाम॑हे॒ सचो॒तैधि॑ पृ॒त्सु नो॑ वृ॒धे ||

    nū́ na éhi vā́ryam ágne gr̥ṇāná ā́ bhara yé vayáṁ yé ca sūráyaḥ svastí dhā́mahe sácotaídhi pr̥tsú no vr̥dhé

    Now, O Agni, come to us, and, being praised, bring forth precious wealth. May we, and the generous patrons, together obtain welfare. Be with us for our growth in battles.
