O bright Agni, those men who praise you with songs and possess horses as their reward are mighty. Their great fame awakens you from within, even more than the sky does.
The hymn addresses Agni as 'candra' (bright/luminous). It speaks of those who offer prayers ('girah') to him, and these hymn-givers, characterized by their strong resolve ('susmehíh') and power ('susminah narah'), are rewarded with horses ('asvarādháhaḥ'). Their profound fame ('sukirtih'), even greater than the heavens ('divah'), awakens Agni's attention from within itself.
