Stanza 3.36.1

इ॒मामू॒ षु प्रभृ॑तिं सा॒तये॑ धाः॒ शश्व॑च्छश्वदू॒तिभि॒र्याद॑मानः | सु॒तेसु॑ते वावृधे॒ वर्ध॑नेभि॒र्यः कर्म॑भिर्म॒हद्भिः॒ सुश्रु॑तो॒ भूत् ||

imā́m ū ṣú prábhr̥tiṁ sātáye dhāḥ śáśvac-chaśvad ūtíbhir yā́damānaḥ suté-sute vāvr̥dhe várdhanebhir yáḥ kármabhir mahádbhiḥ súśruto bhū́t

O you who are great and famous for mighty deeds, accept this offering we bring to help us succeed! With continuous support and through your strengthening powers, you have grown mightily, and this offering is presented to you at every libation.

Stanza 3.36.2

इन्द्रा॑य॒ सोमाः॑ प्र॒दिवो॒ विदा॑ना ऋ॒भुर्येभि॒र्वृष॑पर्वा॒ विहा॑याः | प्र॒य॒म्यमा॑ना॒न्प्रति॒ षू गृ॑भा॒येन्द्र॒ पिब॒ वृष॑धूतस्य॒ वृष्णः॑ ||

índrāya sómāḥ pradívo vídānā r̥bhúr yébhir vŕ̥ṣaparvā víhāyāḥ prayamyámānān práti ṣū́ gr̥bhāyéndra píba vŕ̥ṣadhūtasya vŕ̥ṣṇaḥ

O Indra, these Soma juices were discovered for you long ago, making you strong and mighty! Now, O Indra, quickly grasp and drink these Soma offerings we present; drink this potent drink that has been prepared.

Stanza 3.36.3

पिबा॒ वर्ध॑स्व॒ तव॑ घा सु॒तास॒ इन्द्र॒ सोमा॑सः प्रथ॒मा उ॒तेमे | यथापि॑बः पू॒र्व्याँ इ॑न्द्र॒ सोमाँ॑ ए॒वा पा॑हि॒ पन्यो॑ अ॒द्या नवी॑यान् ||

píbā várdhasva táva ghā sutā́sa índra sómāsaḥ prathamā́ utémé yáthā́pibaḥ pūrvyā́m̐ indra sómām̐ evā́ pāhi pányo adyā́ návīyān

Drink up and grow stronger! These Soma juices are yours, O Indra, both the ones from before and these new ones! Just as you drank the earlier Somas, O Indra, so drink these today, a welcome guest, worthy of praise!

Stanza 3.36.4

म॒हाँ अम॑त्रो वृ॒जने॑ विर॒प्श्यु१॒॑ग्रं शवः॑ पत्यते धृ॒ष्ण्वोजः॑ | नाह॑ विव्याच पृथि॒वी च॒नैनं॒ यत्सोमा॑सो॒ हर्य॑श्व॒मम॑न्दन् ||

mahā́m̐ ámatro vr̥jáne virapśy ùgráṁ śávaḥ patyate dhr̥ṣṇv ójaḥ nā́ha vivyāca pr̥thivī́ canaínaṁ yát sómāso háryaśvam ámandan

Great and powerful, Indra's might is immeasurable, so vast that even the earth cannot fully grasp it. His incredible strength and energy are evident when the Soma juices invigorate him, particularly the 'Lord of Tawny Horses'.

Stanza 3.36.5

म॒हाँ उ॒ग्रो वा॑वृधे वी॒र्या॑य स॒माच॑क्रे वृष॒भः काव्ये॑न | इन्द्रो॒ भगो॑ वाज॒दा अ॑स्य॒ गावः॒ प्र जा॑यन्ते॒ दक्षि॑णा अस्य पू॒र्वीः ||

mahā́m̐ ugró vāvr̥dhe vīryāā̀ya samā́cakre vr̥ṣabháḥ kā́vyena índro bhágo vājadā́ asya gā́vaḥ prá jāyante dákṣiṇā asya pūrvī́ḥ

Mighty and strong, Indra has grown powerful for heroic feats, like a wise bull ready for action. Indra is our generous lord; his wealth and gifts, like his cows, are abundant and multiply.

Stanza 3.36.6

प्र यत्सिन्ध॑वः प्रस॒वं यथाय॒न्नापः॑ समु॒द्रं र॒थ्ये॑व जग्मुः | अत॑श्चि॒दिन्द्रः॒ सद॑सो॒ वरी॑या॒न्यदीं॒ सोमः॑ पृ॒णति॑ दु॒ग्धो अं॒शुः ||

prá yát síndhavaḥ prasaváṁ yáthā́yann ā́paḥ samudráṁ rathyèva jagmuḥ átaś cid índraḥ sádaso várīyān yád īṁ sómaḥ pr̥ṇáti dugdhó aṁśúḥ

Just as rivers flow with their currents towards the sea, so do waters move. Even greater than his dwelling is Indra when the pressed Soma juice fills him up. This potent Soma deeply satisfies him.

Stanza 3.36.7

स॒मु॒द्रेण॒ सिन्ध॑वो॒ याद॑माना॒ इन्द्रा॑य॒ सोमं॒ सुषु॑तं॒ भर॑न्तः | अं॒शुं दु॑हन्ति ह॒स्तिनो॑ भ॒रित्रै॒र्मध्वः॑ पुनन्ति॒ धार॑या प॒वित्रैः॑ ||

samudréṇa síndhavo yā́damānā índrāya sómaṁ súṣutam bhárantaḥ aṁśúṁ duhanti hastíno bharítrair mádhvaḥ punanti dhā́rayā pavítraiḥ

Like eager rivers flowing to the sea, they carry the well-pressed Soma for Indra. Like mighty beings, they extract the essence with tools, and purify the sweet liquid with streams and filters.

Stanza 3.36.8

ह्र॒दा इ॑व कु॒क्षयः॑ सोम॒धानाः॒ समी॑ विव्याच॒ सव॑ना पु॒रूणि॑ | अन्ना॒ यदिन्द्रः॑ प्रथ॒मा व्याश॑ वृ॒त्रं ज॑घ॒न्वाँ अ॑वृणीत॒ सोम॑म् ||

hradā́ iva kukṣáyaḥ somadhā́nāḥ sám ī vivyāca sávanā purū́ṇi ánnā yád índraḥ prathamā́ vy ā́śa vr̥tráṁ jaghanvā́m̐ avr̥ṇīta sómam

Like lakes filled with Soma, his sides are full; he truly contains abundant libations. When Indra consumed the first delicious portions, having slain Vṛitra, he chose Soma for himself.

Stanza 3.36.9

आ तू भ॑र॒ माकि॑रे॒तत्परि॑ ष्ठाद्वि॒द्मा हि त्वा॒ वसु॑पतिं॒ वसू॑नाम् | इन्द्र॒ यत्ते॒ माहि॑नं॒ दत्र॒मस्त्य॒स्मभ्यं॒ तद्ध॑र्यश्व॒ प्र य॑न्धि ||

ā́ tū́ bhara mā́kir etát pári ṣṭhād vidmā́ hí tvā vásupatiṁ vásūnām índra yát te mā́hinaṁ dátram ásty asmábhyaṁ tád dharyaśva prá yandhi

Bring forth your gifts, O Indra, don't hold back! We know you as the Lord of Wealth. Whatever magnificent gift you possess, O Indra, Lord of Tawny Horses, please grant it to us!

Stanza 3.36.10

अ॒स्मे प्र य॑न्धि मघवन्नृजीषि॒न्निन्द्र॑ रा॒यो वि॒श्ववा॑रस्य॒ भूरेः॑ | अ॒स्मे श॒तं श॒रदो॑ जी॒वसे॑ धा अ॒स्मे वी॒राञ्छश्व॑त इन्द्र शिप्रिन् ||

asmé prá yandhi maghavann r̥jīṣinn índra rāyó viśvávārasya bhū́reḥ asmé śatáṁ śarádo jīváse dhā asmé vīrā́ñ cháśvata indra śiprin

Grant us, O Indra, bountiful giver and powerful one, abundant wealth that brings all good things! Give us a hundred years to live, and grant us strong heroes, O brilliant Indra!

Stanza 3.36.11

शु॒नं हु॑वेम म॒घवा॑न॒मिन्द्र॑म॒स्मिन्भरे॒ नृत॑मं॒ वाज॑सातौ | शृ॒ण्वन्त॑मु॒ग्रमू॒तये॑ स॒मत्सु॒ घ्नन्तं॑ वृ॒त्राणि॑ सं॒जितं॒ धना॑नाम् ||

śunáṁ huvema maghávānam índram asmín bháre nŕ̥tamaṁ vā́jasātau śr̥ṇvántam ugrám ūtáye samátsu ghnántaṁ vr̥trā́ṇi saṁjítaṁ dhánānām

Let us call upon Indra, the generous and foremost hero in battles for spoils! He listens, is mighty, and offers help. He slays enemies like Vṛitra and is the victor who gathers all riches.
