Nights and dawns have yearned for you, Agni, like cows calling for their calf in the stables. You are like a steward from heaven, shining your light on human communities through the long nights, oh bountiful one.

Stanza 2.2.3

The gods have placed him, the wondrously powerful messenger, at the base of the atmosphere between heaven and earth. Agni is known like a chariot, brightly shining, and praised like Mitra among people.

Stanza 2.2.4

They have placed him, growing in the sky, in his own home, shining beautifully like the moon. Agni, the winged one from Pṛśni, who watches with his eyes, illuminates both divine and human realms, like a guardian of the way.

Stanza 2.2.5

May Agni, the priest, encompass all the sacrifice. Men seek him with offerings and praise. With his golden jaws, he eagerly moves among the growing things, illuminating the two worlds like the sky filled with stars.

Agni, give us great wealth and thousandfold riches! Like a door, open up strength for us for glory. Make heaven and earth favorable through our prayer. Make the dawns shine like the brilliant sun.

Thus, our human prayer has prospered among the immortals in the great heaven, O ancient Agni. Like a cow, may you freely yield hundreds of diverse riches to the singer in our settlements.
