Hey Brihaspati, you who are the Lord, please accept this offering! We'll praise you with this powerful, new song. Just like your friend, our generous patron, sings your praises, may you, O Brihaspati, fulfill our desires and inspire our thoughts.

Stanza 2.24.2

He, with his might, bent what needed bending. With his passionate fury, he shattered Sambara's defenses! He broke through the unyielding, and as Brihaspati, he entered the wealthy mountain and revealed its riches.

Stanza 2.24.3

tád devā́nāṁ devátamāya kártvam áśrathnan dr̥ḷhā́vradanta vīḷitā́ úd gā́ ājad ábhinad bráhmaṇā valám ágūhat támo vy àcakṣayat svàḥ

That was a truly god-like deed for the gods! They shattered the strong barriers, the firmly fixed ones gave way. With prayer, he drove out the cattle, broke through Vala, and banished the darkness, bringing forth the light.

Stanza 2.24.4

Brihaspati's might opened up that well with a stony mouth, pouring a stream of sweetness. All who can see the light have drunk their fill from it. Together, they made this abundant water flow forth.

Stanza 2.24.5

Those ancient creations, whatever they may be, will continue through the months and seasons. The doors open for you! They worked effortlessly, one after the other, fulfilling the ordained tasks that Brihaspati has set forth.

Stanza 2.24.6

Those who diligently searched and found the hidden treasure of the Paṇis, kept deep in secret—the wise ones, after seeing through the falsehoods, turned back from where they came, seeking to re-enter.

Stanza 2.24.7

Those who follow order, after seeing the falsehoods, turned back. The wise ones stood again on the great paths. With their own hands, they placed the fire, kindled in the rock, and declared, 'No enemy is he!'

Stanza 2.24.8

With his swift, true bow, Brihaspati reaches whatever he aims for. His arrows are excellent, piercing through everything. They are sharp-eyed and effective for seeing and achieving.

Stanza 2.24.9

He brings things together, he separates them; he is the priest of the house, praised, and ready for battle – that is Brihaspati! When he, skillfully, brings forth sustenance for the hymns, it is like the sun shining powerfully and without effort.

Stanza 2.24.10

First and foremost, the generous gifts of Brihaspati, the abundant provider, are to be sought. These are the blessings of Vena, the strong one, through which people and communities alike find joy.

Stanza 2.24.11

You, who are supreme in earthly power, rejoicing, have grown mighty with your strength! That divine one, Brihaspati, has spread out amongst the gods, encompassing everything.

Stanza 2.24.12

All truth comes from you, O powerful twin deities! Not even the waters can break your command. Come to our offering, O Indra and Brihaspati, just as swift horses come to their fodder!

Stanza 2.24.13

The sacrificial flames hear quickly; the wise seer in the assembly gathers wealth for his hymns. Hating the firm opposition, they yield to his will, forgiving debts. He is indeed strong, Brihaspati in the midst of conflict!

Stanza 2.24.14

Brihaspati's anger, when he intends great work, becomes reality according to his will. The one who drove the cows out and distributed them to the sky – like a great, powerful flood, he flowed everywhere separately.

Stanza 2.24.15

O Brihaspati, may we always be masters of our wealth, well-guided and strong! Send many heroes to us. You who command, when you heed our call with wisdom, come!

Stanza 2.24.16

O Brihaspati, you are the controller of this! Understand our hymn and nourish our children. Everything the gods favor is indeed good. May we speak powerfully with heroes in the assembly!
