Stanza 10.96.1

प्र ते॑ म॒हे वि॒दथे॑ शंसिषं॒ हरी॒ प्र ते॑ वन्वे व॒नुषो॑ हर्य॒तं मद॑म् | घृ॒तं न यो हरि॑भि॒श्चारु॒ सेच॑त॒ आ त्वा॑ विशन्तु॒ हरि॑वर्पसं॒ गिरः॑ ||

prá te mahé vidáthe śaṁsiṣaṁ hárī prá te vanve vanúṣo haryatám mádam ghr̥táṁ ná yó háribhiś cā́ru sécata ā́ tvā viśantu hárivarpasaṁ gíraḥ

I will praise your divine greatness in the grand assembly, O Indra. I will worship your chariot horses and your intoxicating Soma. Like golden oil poured out, it flows. May my hymns enter you, who possess a golden form.

Stanza 10.96.2

हरिं॒ हि योनि॑म॒भि ये स॒मस्व॑रन्हि॒न्वन्तो॒ हरी॑ दि॒व्यं यथा॒ सदः॑ | आ यं पृ॒णन्ति॒ हरि॑भि॒र्न धे॒नव॒ इन्द्रा॑य शू॒षं हरि॑वन्तमर्चत ||

háriṁ hí yónim abhí yé samásvaran hinvánto hárī divyáṁ yáthā sádaḥ ā́ yám pr̥ṇánti háribhir ná dhenáva índrāya śūṣáṁ hárivantam arcata

You who sing together to the golden place, moving forward like horses to the heavenly abode. You who satisfy Indra like cows, praise him with strength, the one who possesses golden attributes.

Stanza 10.96.3

सो अ॑स्य॒ वज्रो॒ हरि॑तो॒ य आ॑य॒सो हरि॒र्निका॑मो॒ हरि॒रा गभ॑स्त्योः | द्यु॒म्नी सु॑शि॒प्रो हरि॑मन्युसायक॒ इन्द्रे॒ नि रू॒पा हरि॑ता मिमिक्षिरे ||

só asya vájro hárito yá āyasó hárir níkāmo hárir ā́ gábhastyoḥ dyumnī́ suśipró hárimanyusāyaka índre ní rūpā́ háritā mimikṣire

His thunderbolt is golden and made of iron. Golden and very dear in his arms. Bright with strong jaws, a golden-furious weapon. All golden forms are fixed in Indra.

Stanza 10.96.4

दि॒वि न के॒तुरधि॑ धायि हर्य॒तो वि॒व्यच॒द्वज्रो॒ हरि॑तो॒ न रंह्या॑ | तु॒ददहिं॒ हरि॑शिप्रो॒ य आ॑य॒सः स॒हस्र॑शोका अभवद्धरिम्भ॒रः ||

diví ná ketúr ádhi dhāyi haryató vivyácad vájro hárito ná ráṁhyā tudád áhiṁ háriśipro yá āyasáḥ sahásraśokā abhavad dharimbharáḥ

Like a golden banner placed in the sky, the golden thunderbolt spread out with swiftness. That iron bolt, with its golden jaw, struck down the serpent. It became a bearer of a thousand flames.

Stanza 10.96.5

त्वंत्व॑महर्यथा॒ उप॑स्तुतः॒ पूर्वे॑भिरिन्द्र हरिकेश॒ यज्व॑भिः | त्वं ह॑र्यसि॒ तव॒ विश्व॑मु॒क्थ्य१॒॑मसा॑मि॒ राधो॑ हरिजात हर्य॒तम् ||

tváṁ tvam aharyathā úpastutaḥ pū́rvebhir indra harikeśa yájvabhiḥ tváṁ haryasi táva víśvam ukthyàm ásāmi rā́dho harijāta haryatám

You, Indra, golden-haired, were pleased when praised by the ancient sacrificers. You are attractive and your entire glory is praiseworthy. You receive our perfect and pleasant gifts, O golden-born one.

Stanza 10.96.6

ता व॒ज्रिणं॑ म॒न्दिनं॒ स्तोम्यं॒ मद॒ इन्द्रं॒ रथे॑ वहतो हर्य॒ता हरी॑ | पु॒रूण्य॑स्मै॒ सव॑नानि॒ हर्य॑त॒ इन्द्रा॑य॒ सोमा॒ हर॑यो दधन्विरे ||

tā́ vajríṇam mandínaṁ stómyam máda índraṁ ráthe vahato haryatā́ hárī purū́ṇy asmai sávanāni háryata índrāya sómā hárayo dadhanvire

These two dear horses carry the thunderbolt-wielder, delightful Indra, on his chariot. Many offerings are made for him who desires them. Golden Soma juices have been prepared for Indra.

Stanza 10.96.7

अरं॒ कामा॑य॒ हर॑यो दधन्विरे स्थि॒राय॑ हिन्व॒न्हर॑यो॒ हरी॑ तु॒रा | अर्व॑द्भि॒र्यो हरि॑भि॒र्जोष॒मीय॑ते॒ सो अ॑स्य॒ कामं॒ हरि॑वन्तमानशे ||

áraṁ kā́māya hárayo dadhanvire sthirā́ya hinvan hárayo hárī turā́ árvadbhir yó háribhir jóṣam ī́yate só asya kā́maṁ hárivantam ānaśe

The golden juices have flowed forth to satisfy desire. Urging on the swift horses, the golden juices move the horses. He who moves with golden horses according to his liking, he attains his golden desire.

Stanza 10.96.8

हरि॑श्मशारु॒र्हरि॑केश आय॒सस्तु॑र॒स्पेये॒ यो ह॑रि॒पा अव॑र्धत | अर्व॑द्भि॒र्यो हरि॑भिर्वा॒जिनी॑वसु॒रति॒ विश्वा॑ दुरि॒ता पारि॑ष॒द्धरी॑ ||

háriśmaśārur hárikeśa āyasás turaspéye yó haripā́ ávardhata árvadbhir yó háribhir vājínīvasur áti víśvā duritā́ pā́riṣad dhárī

The golden-bearded, golden-haired drinker of golden Soma grew strong. He who, with his swift horses and golden companions, overcomes all dangers.

Stanza 10.96.9

स्रुवे॑व॒ यस्य॒ हरि॑णी विपे॒ततुः॒ शिप्रे॒ वाजा॑य॒ हरि॑णी॒ दवि॑ध्वतः | प्र यत्कृ॒ते च॑म॒से मर्मृ॑ज॒द्धरी॑ पी॒त्वा मद॑स्य हर्य॒तस्यान्ध॑सः ||

srúveva yásya háriṇī vipetátuḥ śípre vā́jāya háriṇī dávidhvataḥ prá yát kr̥té camasé mármr̥jad dhárī pītvā́ mádasya haryatásyā́ndhasaḥ

His two golden jaws opened like ladles for strength. Stirring the Soma in the cup, his golden jaws moved. When he drank the intoxicating, golden Soma, he groomed his golden steeds.

Stanza 10.96.10

उ॒त स्म॒ सद्म॑ हर्य॒तस्य॑ प॒स्त्यो॒३॒॑रत्यो॒ न वाजं॒ हरि॑वाँ अचिक्रदत् | म॒ही चि॒द्धि धि॒षणाह॑र्य॒दोज॑सा बृ॒हद्वयो॑ दधिषे हर्य॒तश्चि॒दा ||

utá sma sádma haryatásya pastyòr átyo ná vā́jaṁ hárivām̐ acikradat mahī́ cid dhí dhiṣáṇā́haryad ójasā br̥hád váyo dadhiṣe haryatáś cid ā́

Even in homes of earth and sky, the golden-horsed one neighs like a horse for food. Indeed, a great desire has seized him with mighty energy. You have gained immense life-force and power, O desirable one.

Stanza 10.96.11

आ रोद॑सी॒ हर्य॑माणो महि॒त्वा नव्यं॑नव्यं हर्यसि॒ मन्म॒ नु प्रि॒यम् | प्र प॒स्त्य॑मसुर हर्य॒तं गोरा॒विष्कृ॑धि॒ हर॑ये॒ सूर्या॑य ||

ā́ ródasī háryamāṇo mahitvā́ návyaṁ-navyaṁ haryasi mánma nú priyám prá pastyàm asura haryatáṁ gór āvíṣ kr̥dhi háraye sū́ryāya

Accepting the earth and sky with your greatness, you are pleased by new hymns. O divine being, reveal the beloved home of the cow, make it visible for the golden Sun.

Stanza 10.96.12

आ त्वा॑ ह॒र्यन्तं॑ प्र॒युजो॒ जना॑नां॒ रथे॑ वहन्तु॒ हरि॑शिप्रमिन्द्र | पिबा॒ यथा॒ प्रति॑भृतस्य॒ मध्वो॒ हर्य॑न्य॒ज्ञं स॑ध॒मादे॒ दशो॑णिम् ||

ā́ tvā haryántam prayújo jánānāṁ ráthe vahantu háriśipram indra píbā yáthā prátibhr̥tasya mádhvo háryan yajñáṁ sadhamā́de dáśoṇim

Let the eager people bring you, delightful Indra with golden jaws, on your chariot. Drink the offered Soma, that you may enjoy the sacrifice and the shared feast.

Stanza 10.96.13

अपाः॒ पूर्वे॑षां हरिवः सु॒ताना॒मथो॑ इ॒दं सव॑नं॒ केव॑लं ते | म॒म॒द्धि सोमं॒ मधु॑मन्तमिन्द्र स॒त्रा वृ॑षञ्ज॒ठर॒ आ वृ॑षस्व ||

ápāḥ pū́rveṣāṁ harivaḥ sutā́nām átho idáṁ sávanaṁ kévalaṁ te mamaddhí sómam mádhumantam indra satrā́ vr̥ṣañ jaṭhára ā́ vr̥ṣasva

You, Indra, Lord of horses, drank the prepared juices of the past. This present libation is solely yours. Be gladdened by the sweet Soma, O mighty one, and pour yourself into the sacrifice.
