भ॒द्रा अ॒ग्नेर्व॑ध्र्य॒श्वस्य॑ सं॒दृशो॑ वा॒मी प्रणी॑तिः सु॒रणा॒ उपे॑तयः | यदीं॑ सुमि॒त्रा विशो॒ अग्र॑ इ॒न्धते॑ घृ॒तेनाहु॑तो जरते॒ दवि॑द्युतत् ||

The appearance of Agni, belonging to Vadhryaśva, is auspicious; his guidance is good, and his visits are pleasant. When the people of Sumitra first kindle him, he, offered with ghee, crackles and shines brightly.

Ghee is the growth of Agni, belonging to Vadhryaśva; ghee is his food, ghee his nourishment. When offered with ghee, he spreads widely across the earth and shines like the sun, becoming full of clarified butter.

This verse is a plea to Agni, reminding him of Vadhryaśva's past worship and invoking his presence. The speaker asks Agni to accept this offering, to be a protector of their homes and bodies, and to guard the gift that Agni has bestowed upon them.

Even the immortal gods, O Jātavedas, kinsman of Vadhryaśva, have declared your greatness. When the human tribes approached with questions, you conquered them with men who were strengthened by you.
The verse states that even the immortal gods have declared the greatness of Agni (Jātavedas), the kinsman of Vadhryaśva. It further recounts that when human tribes approached with prayers, Agni conquered them with the help of men whom he himself had strengthened.

As a father carries his son, so Vadhryaśva carried you, O Agni, and served you. You, O youngest one, having enjoyed his fuel, protected him and conquered even the mighty ones of old.
This stanza compares Vadhryaśva's service to Agni with a father holding his son. Agni, addressed as the youngest (Yavishtha), is described as having accepted Vadhryaśva's offering (fuel) and then, in turn, protected him by conquering even the mighty adversaries of the past.

Agni, belonging to Vadhryaśva, has always conquered enemies with heroes who pressed Soma. You, O bright-rayed one, burned the collective struggle and crushed even the growing powerful ones.
Agni, associated with Vadhryaśva, is praised for consistently defeating his enemies with the help of heroes who have prepared the Soma drink. Agni, with his brilliant rays, is depicted as burning away opposition and even crushing those who grow powerful in battle.
