    Stanza 1.81.1

    इन्द्रो॒ मदा॑य वावृधे॒ शव॑से वृत्र॒हा नृभिः॑ | तमिन्म॒हत्स्वा॒जिषू॒तेमर्भे॑ हवामहे॒ स वाजे॑षु॒ प्र नो॑ऽविषत् ||

    índro mádāya vāvr̥dhe śávase vr̥trahā́ nŕ̥bhiḥ tám ín mahátsv ājíṣūtém árbhe havāmahe sá vā́jeṣu prá no 'viṣat

    Indra, the slayer of Vritra, has grown powerful with human strength and joy! We call on him in battles, whether big or small. May he help us in our great undertakings!

    Stanza 1.81.2

    असि॒ हि वी॑र॒ सेन्योऽसि॒ भूरि॑ पराद॒दिः | असि॑ द॒भ्रस्य॑ चिद्वृ॒धो यज॑मानाय शिक्षसि सुन्व॒ते भूरि॑ ते॒ वसु॑ ||

    ási hí vīra sényó 'si bhū́ri parādadíḥ ási dabhrásya cid vr̥dhó yájamānāya śikṣasi sunvaté bhū́ri te vásu

    You are indeed a hero, Indra, a great warrior and a generous giver! You strengthen even the weak and bless the one who offers sacrifices. You bestow abundant wealth!

    Stanza 1.81.3

    यदु॒दीर॑त आ॒जयो॑ धृ॒ष्णवे॑ धीयते॒ धना॑ | यु॒क्ष्वा म॑द॒च्युता॒ हरी॒ कं हनः॒ कं वसौ॑ दधो॒ऽस्माँ इ॑न्द्र॒ वसौ॑ दधः ||

    yád udī́rata ājáyo dhr̥ṣṇáve dhīyate dhánā yukṣvā́ madacyútā hárī káṁ hánaḥ káṁ vásau dadho 'smā́m̐ indra vásau dadhaḥ

    When battles arise and are fought, wealth is prepared for the courageous! Indra, harness your swift horses! Whom will you strike down, and whom will you enrich? Make us rich, Indra!

    Stanza 1.81.4

    क्रत्वा॑ म॒हाँ अ॑नुष्व॒धं भी॒म आ वा॑वृधे॒ शवः॑ | श्रि॒य ऋ॒ष्व उ॑पा॒कयो॒र्नि शि॒प्री हरि॑वान्दधे॒ हस्त॑यो॒र्वज्र॑माय॒सम् ||

    krátvā mahā́m̐ anuṣvadhám bhīmá ā́ vāvr̥dhe śávaḥ śriyá r̥ṣvá upākáyor ní śiprī́ hárivān dadhe hástayor vájram āyasám

    Mighty through his power, and fearsome, Indra has grown in strength! He is the lord of bay horses, grand and sublime. In his hands, he holds his iron thunderbolt!

    Stanza 1.81.5

    आ प॑प्रौ॒ पार्थि॑वं॒ रजो॑ बद्ब॒धे रो॑च॒ना दि॒वि | न त्वावाँ॑ इन्द्र॒ कश्च॒न न जा॒तो न ज॑निष्य॒तेऽति॒ विश्वं॑ ववक्षिथ ||

    ā́ paprau pā́rthivaṁ rájo badbadhé rocanā́ diví ná tvā́vām̐ indra káś caná ná jātó ná janiṣyaté 'ti víśvaṁ vavakṣitha

    Indra has filled the earth's atmosphere and reached the heavens! No one is like you, Indra, no one born or yet to be born. You have surpassed everything!

    Stanza 1.81.6

    यो अ॒र्यो म॑र्त॒भोज॑नं परा॒ददा॑ति दा॒शुषे॑ | इन्द्रो॑ अ॒स्मभ्यं॑ शिक्षतु॒ वि भ॑जा॒ भूरि॑ ते॒ वसु॑ भक्षी॒य तव॒ राध॑सः ||

    yó aryó martabhójanam parādádāti dāśúṣe índro asmábhyaṁ śikṣatu ví bhajā bhū́ri te vásu bhakṣīyá táva rā́dhasaḥ

    May whoever gives the enemy's food to the worshipper, may Indra help us too! Share your abundant wealth with us, and let us enjoy your gifts!

    Stanza 1.81.7

    मदे॑मदे॒ हि नो॑ द॒दिर्यू॒था गवा॑मृजु॒क्रतुः॑ | सं गृ॑भाय पु॒रू श॒तोभ॑याह॒स्त्या वसु॑ शिशी॒हि रा॒य आ भ॑र ||

    máde-made hí no dadír yūthā́ gávām r̥jukrátuḥ sáṁ gr̥bhāya purū́ śatóbhayāhastyā́ vásu śiśīhí rāyá ā́ bhara

    Indra, you give us herds of cows with righteous joy! Gather abundant treasures with both hands, and bring us riches!

    Stanza 1.81.8

    मा॒दय॑स्व सु॒ते सचा॒ शव॑से शूर॒ राध॑से | वि॒द्मा हि त्वा॑ पुरू॒वसु॒मुप॒ कामा॑न्त्ससृ॒ज्महेऽथा॑ नोऽवि॒ता भ॑व ||

    mādáyasva suté sácā śávase śūra rā́dhase vidmā́ hí tvā purūvásum úpa kā́mān sasr̥jmáhé 'thā no 'vitā́ bhava

    Indra, rejoice with the Soma juice, for strength and bounty! We know you are rich in wealth, and we have sent you our desires. Be our protector!

    Stanza 1.81.9

    ए॒ते त॑ इन्द्र ज॒न्तवो॒ विश्वं॑ पुष्यन्ति॒ वार्य॑म् | अ॒न्तर्हि ख्यो जना॑नाम॒र्यो वेदो॒ अदा॑शुषां॒ तेषां॑ नो॒ वेद॒ आ भ॑र ||

    eté ta indra jantávo víśvam puṣyanti vā́ryam antár hí khyó jánānām aryó védo ádāśuṣāṁ téṣāṁ no véda ā́ bhara

    Indra, these people sustain all valuable things for you! Reveal and bring us the wealth of those who don't offer gifts. Bring us their wealth!
