Stanza 1.33.1

एताया॒मोप॑ ग॒व्यन्त॒ इन्द्र॑म॒स्माकं॒ सु प्रम॑तिं वावृधाति | अ॒ना॒मृ॒णः कु॒विदाद॒स्य रा॒यो गवां॒ केतं॒ पर॑मा॒वर्ज॑ते नः ||

étā́yāmópa gavyánta índram asmā́kaṁ sú prámatiṁ vāvr̥dhāti anāmr̥ṇáḥ kuvíd ā́d asyá rāyó gávāṁ kétam páram āvárjate naḥ

Come on, let's seek Indra for the sake of cows and wealth! He is our great supporter. May the indestructible one grant us the highest knowledge of his wealth and cows!

Stanza 1.33.2

उपेद॒हं ध॑न॒दामप्र॑तीतं॒ जुष्टां॒ न श्ये॒नो व॑स॒तिं प॑तामि | इन्द्रं॑ नम॒स्यन्नु॑प॒मेभि॑र॒र्कैर्यः स्तो॒तृभ्यो॒ हव्यो॒ अस्ति॒ याम॑न् ||

úpéd aháṁ dhanadā́m ápratītaṁ júṣṭāṁ ná śyenó vasatím patāmi índraṁ namasyánn upamébhir arkaír yá stotŕ̥bhyo hávyo ásti yā́man

I fly towards the invisible wealth-giver, like a falcon to its cherished nest. I approach Indra, bowing with praises, for he is honored by those who praise him in the midst of battle.

Stanza 1.33.3

नि सर्व॑सेन इषु॒धीँर॑सक्त॒ सम॒र्यो गा अ॑जति॒ यस्य॒ वष्टि॑ | चो॒ष्कू॒यमा॑ण इन्द्र॒ भूरि॑ वा॒मं मा प॒णिर्भू॑र॒स्मदधि॑ प्रवृद्ध ||

ní sárvasena iṣudhī́m̐r asakta sám aryó gā́ ajati yásya váṣṭi coṣkūyámāṇa indra bhū́ri vāmám mā́ paṇír bhūr asmád ádhi pravr̥ddha

He, the mighty one, equips himself with quivers, and drives away the cows from the enemy when he desires. Indra, don't be like a miserly trader, but give us abundant wealth!

Stanza 1.33.4

वधी॒र्हि दस्युं॑ ध॒निनं॑ घ॒नेनँ॒ एक॒श्चर॑न्नुपशा॒केभि॑रिन्द्र | धनो॒रधि॑ विषु॒णक्ते व्या॑य॒न्नय॑ज्वानः सन॒काः प्रेति॑मीयुः ||

vádhīr hí dásyuṁ dhanínaṁ ghanénam̐ ékaś cárann upaśākébhir indra dhánor ádhi viṣuṇák té vy āā̀yann áyajvānaḥ sanakā́ḥ prétim īyuḥ

Indeed, you struck down the wealthy enemy with a mighty blow! Alone, O Indra, moving with your companions, you scattered them. The godless ones, fleeing in all directions, met their destruction.

Stanza 1.33.5

परा॑ चिच्छी॒र्षा व॑वृजु॒स्त इ॒न्द्राय॑ज्वानो॒ यज्व॑भिः॒ स्पर्ध॑मानाः | प्र यद्दि॒वो ह॑रिवः स्थातरुग्र॒ निर॑व्र॒ताँ अ॑धमो॒ रोद॑स्योः ||

párā cic chīrṣā́ vavr̥jus tá indrā́yajvāno yájvabhi spárdhamānāḥ prá yád divó hariva sthātar ugra nír avratā́m̐ adhamo ródasyoḥ

Fighting against the worshippers, the godless turned away with shame. When you, O Indra, fierce Lord of the horses, drove the lawless ones from the sky and earth, they were defeated.

Stanza 1.33.6

अयु॑युत्सन्ननव॒द्यस्य॒ सेना॒मया॑तयन्त क्षि॒तयो॒ नव॑ग्वाः | वृ॒षा॒युधो॒ न वध्र॑यो॒ निर॑ष्टाः प्र॒वद्भि॒रिन्द्रा॑च्चि॒तय॑न्त आयन् ||

áyuyutsann anavadyásya sénām áyātayanta kṣitáyo návagvāḥ vr̥ṣāyúdho ná vádhrayo níraṣṭāḥ pravádbhir índrāc citáyanta āyan

They attacked the army of the blameless one. The Navagvas, skilled warriors, attacked. Like weaklings fighting strong men, they were destroyed and fled from Indra, conscious of their defeat.

Stanza 1.33.7

त्वमे॒तान्रु॑द॒तो जक्ष॑त॒श्चायो॑धयो॒ रज॑स इन्द्र पा॒रे | अवा॑दहो दि॒व आ दस्यु॑मु॒च्चा प्र सु॑न्व॒तः स्तु॑व॒तः शंस॑मावः ||

tvám etā́n rudató jákṣataś cā́yodhayo rájasa indra pāré ávādaho divá ā́ dásyum uccā́ prá sunvatá stuvatáḥ śáṁsam āvaḥ

You defeated them, whether crying or laughing, O Indra, beyond the realm of the sky. You destroyed the enemy from the sky, and protected the praise of the one who offers Soma and sings praises.

Stanza 1.33.8

च॒क्रा॒णासः॑ परी॒णहं॑ पृथि॒व्या हिर॑ण्येन म॒णिना॒ शुम्भ॑मानाः | न हि॑न्वा॒नास॑स्तितिरु॒स्त इन्द्रं॒ परि॒ स्पशो॑ अदधा॒त्सूर्ये॑ण ||

cakrāṇā́saḥ parīṇáham pr̥thivyā́ híraṇyena maṇínā śúmbhamānāḥ ná hinvānā́sas titirus tá índram pári spáśo adadhāt sū́ryeṇa

Adorned with gold and jewels, they formed a protective circle around the earth. Though they strove, they could not overcome Indra. You captured their spies with the Sun.

Stanza 1.33.9

परि॒ यदि॑न्द्र॒ रोद॑सी उ॒भे अबु॑भोजीर्महि॒ना वि॒श्वतः॑ सीम् | अम॑न्यमानाँ अ॒भि मन्य॑मानै॒र्निर्ब्र॒ह्मभि॑रधमो॒ दस्यु॑मिन्द्र ||

pári yád indra ródasī ubhé ábubhojīr mahinā́ viśvátaḥ sīm ámanyamānām̐ abhí mányamānair nír brahmábhir adhamo dásyum indra

As you, O Indra, enjoyed both heaven and earth with your greatness, so you, with the priests, destroyed the non-worshippers along with the worshippers.

Stanza 1.33.10

न ये दि॒वः पृ॑थि॒व्या अन्त॑मा॒पुर्न मा॒याभि॑र्धन॒दां प॒र्यभू॑वन् | युजं॒ वज्रं॑ वृष॒भश्च॑क्र॒ इन्द्रो॒ निर्ज्योति॑षा॒ तम॑सो॒ गा अ॑दुक्षत् ||

ná yé diváḥ pr̥thivyā́ ántam āpúr ná māyā́bhir dhanadā́m paryábhūvan yújaṁ vájraṁ vr̥ṣabháś cakra índro nír jyótiṣā támaso gā́ adukṣat

They who reached the ends of earth and sky could not overcome the wealth-giver with their magic. Indra, the bull, made the thunderbolt his ally and drove away the cows from the darkness with light.

Stanza 1.33.11

अनु॑ स्व॒धाम॑क्षर॒न्नापो॑ अ॒स्याव॑र्धत॒ मध्य॒ आ ना॒व्या॑नाम् | स॒ध्री॒चीने॑न॒ मन॑सा॒ तमिन्द्र॒ ओजि॑ष्ठेन॒ हन्म॑नाहन्न॒भि द्यून् ||

ánu svadhā́m akṣarann ā́po asyā́vardhata mádhya ā́ nāvyāā̀nām sadhrīcī́nena mánasā tám índra ójiṣṭhena hánmanāhann abhí dyū́n

The waters flowed according to their nature, and grew in the midst of the streams. Then Indra, with focused mind and strongest weapon, struck down the enemy, driving him away from the heavens.

Stanza 1.33.12

न्या॑विध्यदिली॒बिश॑स्य दृ॒ळ्हा वि शृ॒ङ्गिण॑मभिन॒च्छुष्ण॒मिन्द्रः॑ | याव॒त्तरो॑ मघव॒न्याव॒दोजो॒ वज्रे॑ण॒ शत्रु॑मवधीः पृत॒न्युम् ||

ny āā̀vidhyad ilībíśasya dr̥ḷhā́ ví śr̥ṅgíṇam abhinac chúṣṇam índraḥ yā́vat táro maghavan yā́vad ójo vájreṇa śátrum avadhīḥ pr̥tanyúm

You pierced the strongholds of Ilîbiṣa, O Indra, and shattered the horned Śuṣṇa. Whatever your might, O Maghavan, whatever your power, you killed the fighting enemy with your thunderbolt.

Stanza 1.33.13

अ॒भि सि॒ध्मो अ॑जिगादस्य॒ शत्रू॒न्वि ति॒ग्मेन॑ वृष॒भेणा॒ पुरो॑ऽभेत् | सं वज्रे॑णासृजद्वृ॒त्रमिन्द्रः॒ प्र स्वां म॒तिम॑तिर॒च्छाश॑दानः ||

abhí sidhmó ajigād asya śátrūn ví tigména vr̥ṣabhéṇā púro 'bhet sáṁ vájreṇāsr̥jad vr̥trám índraḥ prá svā́m matím atirac chā́śadānaḥ

Indra's mighty weapon fell upon the enemies. With his sharp thunderbolt, he broke their forts. He struck Vritra with the thunderbolt and, achieving his goal, conquered.

Stanza 1.33.14

आवः॒ कुत्स॑मिन्द्र॒ यस्मि॑ञ्चा॒कन्प्रावो॒ युध्य॑न्तं वृष॒भं दश॑द्युम् | श॒फच्यु॑तो रे॒णुर्न॑क्षत॒ द्यामुच्छ्वै॑त्रे॒यो नृ॒षाह्या॑य तस्थौ ||

ā́vaḥ kútsam indra yásmiñ cākán prā́vo yúdhyantaṁ vr̥ṣabháṁ dáśadyum śaphácyuto reṇúr nakṣata dyā́m úc chvaitreyó nr̥ṣā́hyāya tasthau

You protected Kutsa, O Indra, whom you favored, and you aided the brave Daṣadyu in battle. The dust from the hoofs rose towards the sky. Then, the son of Śvitrî stood up for victory.

Stanza 1.33.15

आवः॒ शमं॑ वृष॒भं तुग्र्या॑सु क्षेत्रजे॒षे म॑घव॒ञ्छ्वित्र्यं॒ गाम् | ज्योक्चि॒दत्र॑ तस्थि॒वांसो॑ अक्रञ्छत्रूय॒तामध॑रा॒ वेद॑नाकः ||

ā́vaḥ śámaṁ vr̥ṣabháṁ túgryāsu kṣetrajeṣé maghavañ chvítryaṁ gā́m jyók cid átra tasthivā́ṁso akrañ chatrūyatā́m ádharā védanākaḥ

You aided the gentle bull Śama, O Maghavan, in battles for the land among Tugra's people. They stood for a long time before the task was done. You became the owner of the enemy's wealth.
