Stanza 1.190.1

अ॒न॒र्वाणं॑ वृष॒भं म॒न्द्रजि॑ह्वं॒ बृह॒स्पतिं॑ वर्धया॒ नव्य॑म॒र्कैः | गा॒था॒न्यः॑ सु॒रुचो॒ यस्य॑ दे॒वा आ॑शृ॒ण्वन्ति॒ नव॑मानस्य॒ मर्ताः॑ ||

anarvā́ṇaṁ vr̥ṣabhám mandrájihvam bŕ̥haspátiṁ vardhayā návyam arkaíḥ gāthānyàḥ surúco yásya devā́ āśr̥ṇvánti návamānasya mártāḥ

Let's celebrate Brihaspati! He's powerful, has a delightful voice, and is always worthy of praise. New songs are being sung to him, and everyone, gods and humans alike, eagerly listens.

Stanza 1.190.2

तमृ॒त्विया॒ उप॒ वाचः॑ सचन्ते॒ सर्गो॒ न यो दे॑वय॒तामस॑र्जि | बृह॒स्पतिः॒ स ह्यञ्जो॒ वरां॑सि॒ विभ्वाभ॑व॒त्समृ॒ते मा॑त॒रिश्वा॑ ||

tám r̥tvíyā úpa vā́caḥ sacante sárgo ná yó devayatā́m ásarji bŕ̥haspátiḥ sá hy áñjo várāṁsi víbhvā́bhavat sám r̥té mātaríśvā

Just as a flowing stream attracts attention, so too do hymns and praises come to him. Brihaspati, who was unleashed like a powerful surge, established the vast spaces, and was present with Matarishvan during the sacred rite.

Stanza 1.190.3

उप॑स्तुतिं॒ नम॑स॒ उद्य॑तिं च॒ श्लोकं॑ यंसत्सवि॒तेव॒ प्र बा॒हू | अ॒स्य क्रत्वा॑ह॒न्यो॒३॒॑ यो अस्ति॑ मृ॒गो न भी॒मो अ॑र॒क्षस॒स्तुवि॑ष्मान् ||

úpastutiṁ námasa údyatiṁ ca ślókaṁ yaṁsat savitéva prá bāhū́ asyá krátvāhanyò yó ásti mr̥gó ná bhīmó arakṣásas túviṣmān

May he bring forth our praise and heartfelt worship, just as the sun stretches out its mighty arms! He is wise, strong like a fearsome but harmless beast, and his brilliance shines daily.

Stanza 1.190.4

अ॒स्य श्लोको॑ दि॒वीय॑ते पृथि॒व्यामत्यो॒ न यं॑सद्यक्ष॒भृद्विचे॑ताः | मृ॒गाणां॒ न हे॒तयो॒ यन्ति॑ चे॒मा बृह॒स्पते॒रहि॑मायाँ अ॒भि द्यून् ||

asyá ślóko divī́yate pr̥thivyā́m átyo ná yaṁsad yakṣabhŕ̥d vícetāḥ mr̥gā́ṇāṁ ná hetáyo yánti cemā́ bŕ̥haspáter áhimāyām̐ abhí dyū́n

His praise spreads across the earth and sky, like a swift horse carrying us forward! These praises, sharp and true like arrows, fly towards the heavens, guided by Brihaspati's keen insight.

Stanza 1.190.5

ये त्वा॑ देवोस्रि॒कं मन्य॑मानाः पा॒पा भ॒द्रमु॑प॒जीव॑न्ति प॒ज्राः | न दू॒ढ्ये॒३॒॑ अनु॑ ददासि वा॒मं बृह॑स्पते॒ चय॑स॒ इत्पिया॑रुम् ||

yé tvā devosrikám mányamānāḥ pāpā́ bhadrám upajī́vanti pajrā́ḥ ná dūḍhyè ánu dadāsi vāmám bŕ̥haspate cáyasa ít píyārum

O God Brihaspati, those who think of you as worthless, and wicked people who live off your blessings, you don't give them anything good. They are foolish and hateful, and you rightly withhold your favor from them.

Stanza 1.190.6

सु॒प्रैतुः॑ सू॒यव॑सो॒ न पन्था॑ दुर्नि॒यन्तुः॒ परि॑प्रीतो॒ न मि॒त्रः | अ॒न॒र्वाणो॑ अ॒भि ये चक्ष॑ते॒ नोऽपी॑वृता अपोर्णु॒वन्तो॑ अस्थुः ||

supraítuḥ sūyávaso ná pánthā durniyántuḥ páriprīto ná mitráḥ anarvā́ṇo abhí yé cákṣate nó 'pīvr̥tā aporṇuvánto asthuḥ

His path is clear and pleasant, like a road with good pastures, unlike a difficult journey. He is like a beloved friend, always content. Those who see him are unharmed, and they stand firm, uncovering what is hidden.

Stanza 1.190.7

सं यं स्तुभो॒ऽवन॑यो॒ न यन्ति॑ समु॒द्रं न स्र॒वतो॒ रोध॑चक्राः | स वि॒द्वाँ उ॒भयं॑ चष्टे अ॒न्तर्बृह॒स्पति॒स्तर॒ आप॑श्च॒ गृध्रः॑ ||

sáṁ yáṁ stúbho 'vánayo ná yánti samudráṁ ná sraváto ródhacakrāḥ sá vidvā́m̐ ubháyaṁ caṣṭe antár bŕ̥haspátis tára ā́paś ca gŕ̥dhraḥ

Just as streams flow into the ocean, so do praises come to him. Brihaspati, the wise and eager one, sees both the waters and the vessel. He understands the inner and outer realities.

Stanza 1.190.8

ए॒वा म॒हस्तु॑विजा॒तस्तुवि॑ष्मा॒न्बृह॒स्पति॑र्वृष॒भो धा॑यि दे॒वः | स नः॑ स्तु॒तो वी॒रव॑द्धातु॒ गोम॑द्वि॒द्यामे॒षं वृ॒जनं॑ जी॒रदा॑नुम् ||

evā́ mahás tuvijātás túviṣmān bŕ̥haspátir vr̥ṣabhó dhāyi deváḥ sá na stutó vīrávad dhātu gómad vidyā́meṣáṁ vr̥jánaṁ jīrádānum

Indeed, Brihaspati, the great, strong, and mighty God, has been established as the divine bull. May he, when praised, grant us strength, cattle, and horses. May we attain lasting sustenance and enduring prosperity!
