पु॒रु त्वा॑ दा॒श्वान्वो॑चे॒ऽरिर॑ग्ने॒ तव॑ स्वि॒दा | तो॒दस्ये॑व शर॒ण आ म॒हस्य॑ ||
purú tvā dāśvā́n voce 'rír agne táva svid ā́ todásyeva śaraṇá ā́ mahásya
Oh Agni, I, your devoted worshipper, call to you often with many gifts. I seek refuge in your mighty protection, like finding safety in the embrace of a powerful, inspiring force.
The speaker, a devoted worshipper, addresses the fire god Agni, calling out to him with many offerings. They express a desire to be sheltered and protected by Agni, comparing his protection to the immense and powerful shelter of a great, inspiring divine presence.

व्य॑नि॒नस्य॑ ध॒निनः॑ प्रहो॒षे चि॒दर॑रुषः | क॒दा च॒न प्र॒जिग॑तो॒ अदे॑वयोः ||
vy àninásya dhanínaḥ prahoṣé cid áraruṣaḥ kadā́ caná prajígato ádevayoḥ
Agni turns away from the one who is unhelpful, who never steps forward, and who ignores the gods. This applies even to a wealthy person who is stingy and reluctant to give.
Agni is depicted as a god who doesn't favor those who are lazy, stingy, or neglectful of divine duties. He turns away from the offerings of the wealthy if they are also ungenerous or don't actively participate in worship, highlighting the importance of genuine devotion and contribution.

sá candró vipra mártyo mahó vrā́dhantamo diví prá-prét te agne vanúṣaḥ syāma
That mortal devotee shines brightly, like a star, powerful and great in the heavens. O Agni, may we, your devoted followers, always be at the very front!
