Stanza 1.142.1

समि॑द्धो अग्न॒ आ व॑ह दे॒वाँ अ॒द्य य॒तस्रु॑चे | तन्तुं॑ तनुष्व पू॒र्व्यं सु॒तसो॑माय दा॒शुषे॑ ||

sámiddho agna ā́ vaha devā́m̐ adyá yatásruce tántuṁ tanuṣva pūrvyáṁ sutásomāya dāśúṣe

Agni, you're all lit up! Please bring the gods here today for the one holding the ladle. For the devotee who's poured the Soma juice, weave that timeless thread of the ritual.

Stanza 1.142.2

घृ॒तव॑न्त॒मुप॑ मासि॒ मधु॑मन्तं तनूनपात् | य॒ज्ञं विप्र॑स्य॒ माव॑तः शशमा॒नस्य॑ दा॒शुषः॑ ||

ghr̥távantam úpa māsi mádhumantaṁ tanūnapāt yajñáṁ víprasya mā́vataḥ śaśamānásya dāśúṣaḥ

Tanunapat, please serve up the sacrifice that's rich with ghee and honey. It's from this priest, like me, who's worked hard offering the Soma.

Stanza 1.142.3

शुचिः॑ पाव॒को अद्भु॑तो॒ मध्वा॑ य॒ज्ञं मि॑मिक्षति | नरा॒शंस॒स्त्रिरा दि॒वो दे॒वो दे॒वेषु॑ य॒ज्ञियः॑ ||

śúciḥ pāvakó ádbhuto mádhvā yajñám mimikṣati nárāśáṁsaḥ trír ā́ divó devó devéṣu yajñíyaḥ

Narashamsa, who is pure, cleansing, and amazing, mixes the sacrifice with honey three times. He is a god among gods, truly worthy of our reverence.

Stanza 1.142.4

ई॒ळि॒तो अ॑ग्न॒ आ व॒हेन्द्रं॑ चि॒त्रमि॒ह प्रि॒यम् | इ॒यं हि त्वा॑ म॒तिर्ममाच्छा॑ सुजिह्व व॒च्यते॑ ||

īḷitó agna ā́ vahéndraṁ citrám ihá priyám iyáṁ hí tvā matír mámā́chā sujihva vacyáte

O Agni, praised by us, please bring the wonderful and beloved Indra here. This prayer of mine, O you with the sweet tongue, is directed to you.

Stanza 1.142.5

स्तृ॒णा॒नासो॑ य॒तस्रु॑चो ब॒र्हिर्य॒ज्ञे स्व॑ध्व॒रे | वृ॒ञ्जे दे॒वव्य॑चस्तम॒मिन्द्रा॑य॒ शर्म॑ स॒प्रथः॑ ||

str̥ṇānā́so yatásruco barhír yajñé svadhvaré vr̥ñjé devávyacastamam índrāya śárma sapráthaḥ

Those holding the ladles are spreading the sacred grass in the well-ordered sacrifice. I am preparing a vast, divine dwelling, the best space for Indra, to welcome the gods.

Stanza 1.142.6

वि श्र॑यन्तामृता॒वृधः॑ प्र॒यै दे॒वेभ्यो॑ म॒हीः | पा॒व॒कासः॑ पुरु॒स्पृहो॒ द्वारो॑ दे॒वीर॑स॒श्चतः॑ ||

ví śrayantām r̥tāvŕ̥dhaḥ prayaí devébhyo mahī́ḥ pāvakā́saḥ puruspŕ̥ho dvā́ro devī́r asaścátaḥ

May the divine doors, which uphold cosmic order, are never obstructed, are vast, purifying, and greatly desired, swing open for the gods to enter.

Stanza 1.142.7

आ भन्द॑माने॒ उपा॑के॒ नक्तो॒षासा॑ सु॒पेश॑सा | य॒ह्वी ऋ॒तस्य॑ मा॒तरा॒ सीद॑तां ब॒र्हिरा सु॒मत् ||

ā́ bhándamāne úpāke náktoṣā́sā supéśasā yahvī́ r̥tásya mātárā sī́datām barhír ā́ sumát

May Night and Dawn, beautiful and close companions, the powerful mothers of cosmic order, sit together on the sacred grass, celebrated and admired.

Stanza 1.142.8

म॒न्द्रजि॑ह्वा जुगु॒र्वणी॒ होता॑रा॒ दैव्या॑ क॒वी | य॒ज्ञं नो॑ यक्षतामि॒मं सि॒ध्रम॒द्य दि॑वि॒स्पृश॑म् ||

mandrájihvā jugurváṇī hótārā daívyā kavī́ yajñáṁ no yakṣatām imáṁ sidhrám adyá divispŕ̥śam

May the two divine priests, the wise Hotris with delightful voices, perform this successful sacrifice for us today, a sacrifice that reaches the heavens.

Stanza 1.142.9

शुचि॑र्दे॒वेष्वर्पि॑ता॒ होत्रा॑ म॒रुत्सु॒ भार॑ती | इळा॒ सर॑स्वती म॒ही ब॒र्हिः सी॑दन्तु य॒ज्ञियाः॑ ||

śúcir devéṣv árpitā hótrā marútsu bhā́ratī íḷā sárasvatī mahī́ barhíḥ sīdantu yajñíyāḥ

May the pure goddess Hotra, placed among the gods and Maruts, along with Bharati, Ila, Sarasvati, and Mahi—all worthy of worship—sit down on the sacred grass.

Stanza 1.142.10

तन्न॑स्तु॒रीप॒मद्भु॑तं पु॒रु वारं॑ पु॒रु त्मना॑ | त्वष्टा॒ पोषा॑य॒ वि ष्य॑तु रा॒ये नाभा॑ नो अस्म॒युः ||

tán nas turī́pam ádbhutam purú vā́ram purú tmánā tváṣṭā póṣāya ví ṣyatu rāyé nā́bhā no asmayúḥ

May Tvashtri, with abundance and inner strength, send us that wonderful, manifold blessing from the center of things, for our prosperity and wealth, favorably inclined towards us.

Stanza 1.142.11

अ॒व॒सृ॒जन्नुप॒ त्मना॑ दे॒वान्य॑क्षि वनस्पते | अ॒ग्निर्ह॒व्या सु॑षूदति दे॒वो दे॒वेषु॒ मेधि॑रः ||

avasr̥jánn úpa tmánā devā́n yakṣi vanaspate agnír havyā́ suṣūdati devó devéṣu médhiraḥ

Vanaspati, yourself lead the way and invite the gods. Agni, the wise god among gods, may he make our offerings ready.

Stanza 1.142.12

पू॒ष॒ण्वते॑ म॒रुत्व॑ते वि॒श्वदे॑वाय वा॒यवे॑ | स्वाहा॑ गाय॒त्रवे॑पसे ह॒व्यमिन्द्रा॑य कर्तन ||

pūṣaṇváte marútvate viśvádevāya vāyáve svā́hā gāyatrávepase havyám índrāya kartana

For Pusan, for the Maruts, for all the gods, for Vayu, and for Indra who inspires the Gayatri meter, declare 'Svaha!' and perform the offering.

Stanza 1.142.13

स्वाहा॑कृता॒न्या ग॒ह्युप॑ ह॒व्यानि॑ वी॒तये॑ | इन्द्रा ग॑हि श्रु॒धी हवं॒ त्वां ह॑वन्ते अध्व॒रे ||

svā́hākr̥tāny ā́ gahy úpa havyā́ni vītáye índrā́ gahi śrudhī́ hávaṁ tvā́ṁ havante adhvaré

Come and enjoy the offerings prepared with the 'Svaha!' call. Indra, come quickly and hear our call! We are inviting you to the sacrifice.
