ví hy ákhyam mánasā vásya ichánn índrāgnī jñāsá utá vā sajātā́n nā́nyā́ yuvát prámatir asti máhyaṁ sá vāṁ dhíyaṁ vājayántīm atakṣam

Searching far and wide with my mind, hoping for good things, I looked for support among relatives and friends. But honestly, no one else seems to offer the kind of help I need except you two. So, I've put together this hymn for you, Indra and Agni, hoping to gain your favor and assistance.

Stanza 1.109.2

áśravaṁ hí bhūridā́vattarā vāṁ víjāmātur utá vā ghā syālā́t áthā sómasya práyatī yuvábhyām índrāgnī stómaṁ janayāmi návyam

I've heard that you two are the most generous givers, far more so than any unhelpful relative like a spouse's brother or even a son-in-law. So, as I offer you this Soma drink, I'm creating this brand new song for you, Indra and Agni!

Stanza 1.109.3

Let's not break these connections! We're praying and striving to follow the strengths of our ancestors. Indra and Agni, how do you strong ones rejoice? It's here, beside the pressing stones and the bowl that holds the Soma.

Stanza 1.109.4

For you, O Indra and Agni, the divine Dhiṣaṇā joyfully presses out the Soma juice! And you, Asvins, with your beautiful hands and arms, hurry! Mix this sweet offering into the waters.

I've heard that you two, Indra and Agni, were the mightiest when Vritra was slain and the treasures were divided. Now, please sit on the sacred grass at this offering. Come and celebrate with the Soma juice!

Stanza 1.109.6

You surpass humankind in battles, Indra and Agni! Your greatness extends beyond the earth and sky, beyond rivers and mountains. Indeed, you are greater than all these things and all other worlds!

Stanza 1.109.7

ā́ bharataṁ śíkṣataṁ vajrabāhū asmā́m̐ indrāgnī avataṁ śácībhiḥ imé nú té raśmáyaḥ sū́ryasya yébhiḥ sapitvám pitáro na ā́san

Bring wealth and protect us, O Indra and Agni, you with your thunderbolt arms and mighty powers! These sunbeams are like those that in the past connected our fathers to the divine.

Stanza 1.109.8

púraṁdarā śíkṣataṁ vajrahastāsmā́m̐ indrāgnī avatam bháreṣu tán no mitró váruṇo māmahantām áditiḥ síndhuḥ pr̥thivī́ utá dyaúḥ

You who destroy forts, Indra and Agni, with your thunderbolt hands, protect us in battles! May Mitra, Varuṇa, Aditi, the rivers, and the sky also approve of this prayer of ours.
