Stanza 9.99.1

आ ह॑र्य॒ताय॑ धृ॒ष्णवे॒ धनु॑स्तन्वन्ति॒ पौंस्य॑म् | शु॒क्रां व॑य॒न्त्यसु॑राय नि॒र्णिजं॑ वि॒पामग्रे॑ मही॒युवः॑ ||

ā́ haryatā́ya dhr̥ṣṇáve dhánus tanvanti paúṁsyam śukrā́ṁ vayanty ásurāya nirṇíjaṁ vipā́m ágre mahīyúvaḥ

For the bold and lovely one, they string the bow of manly strength. For the Lord, they weave bright garments, leading the way with great joy.

Stanza 9.99.2

अध॑ क्ष॒पा परि॑ष्कृतो॒ वाजाँ॑ अ॒भि प्र गा॑हते | यदी॑ वि॒वस्व॑तो॒ धियो॒ हरिं॑ हि॒न्वन्ति॒ यात॑वे ||

ádha kṣapā́ páriṣkr̥to vā́jām̐ abhí prá gāhate yádī vivásvato dhíyo háriṁ hinvánti yā́tave

Then, adorned by the night, he plunges into strengthening provisions. When the sacrificer's thoughts urge Hari onward, he moves.

Stanza 9.99.3

तम॑स्य मर्जयामसि॒ मदो॒ य इ॑न्द्र॒पात॑मः | यं गाव॑ आ॒सभि॑र्द॒धुः पु॒रा नू॒नं च॑ सू॒रयः॑ ||

tám asya marjayāmasi mádo yá indrapā́tamaḥ yáṁ gā́va āsábhir dadhúḥ purā́ nūnáṁ ca sūráyaḥ

We cleanse his intoxicating essence, the one most favored by Indra. It is what cows held in their mouths of old, and what princes now possess.

Stanza 9.99.4

तं गाथ॑या पुरा॒ण्या पु॑ना॒नम॒भ्य॑नूषत | उ॒तो कृ॑पन्त धी॒तयो॑ दे॒वानां॒ नाम॒ बिभ्र॑तीः ||

táṁ gā́thayā purāṇyā́ punānám abhy ànūṣata utó kr̥panta dhītáyo devā́nāṁ nā́ma bíbhratīḥ

To him, as he is being purified, they raised the ancient song of praise. And the sacred verses, bearing the names of gods, implored him.

Stanza 9.99.5

तमु॒क्षमा॑णम॒व्यये॒ वारे॑ पुनन्ति धर्ण॒सिम् | दू॒तं न पू॒र्वचि॑त्तय॒ आ शा॑सते मनी॒षिणः॑ ||

tám ukṣámāṇam avyáye vā́re punanti dharṇasím dūtáṁ ná pūrvácittaya ā́ śāsate manīṣíṇaḥ

They purify him as he drips, courageous, in the fine sieve. Like a messenger, the sages instruct him, to carry forth wisdom.

Stanza 9.99.6

स पु॑ना॒नो म॒दिन्त॑मः॒ सोम॑श्च॒मूषु॑ सीदति | प॒शौ न रेत॑ आ॒दध॒त्पति॑र्वचस्यते धि॒यः ||

sá punānó madíntamaḥ sómaś camū́ṣu sīdati paśaú ná réta ādádhat pátir vacasyate dhiyáḥ

He, the best exhilarator, is purified in the vessels, and Soma sits down. Depositing essence like a husband on the sacrifice, he speaks forth divine words.

Stanza 9.99.7

स मृ॑ज्यते सु॒कर्म॑भिर्दे॒वो दे॒वेभ्यः॑ सु॒तः | वि॒दे यदा॑सु संद॒दिर्म॒हीर॒पो वि गा॑हते ||

sá mr̥jyate sukármabhir devó devébhyaḥ sutáḥ vidé yád āsu saṁdadír mahī́r apó ví gāhate

He is cleansed by good deeds, a God for the gods, pressed. He knows what is in the great waters, and plunges into them.

Stanza 9.99.8

सु॒त इ॑न्दो प॒वित्र॒ आ नृभि॑र्य॒तो वि नी॑यसे | इन्द्रा॑य मत्स॒रिन्त॑मश्च॒मूष्वा नि षी॑दसि ||

sutá indo pavítra ā́ nŕ̥bhir yató ví nīyase índrāya matsaríntamaś camū́ṣv ā́ ní ṣīdasi

Pressed, Indu, through the sieve by men, you are led. For Indra, you offer the greatest joy, and sit down in the vessels.
