Stanza 9.98.1

अ॒भि नो॑ वाज॒सात॑मं र॒यिम॑र्ष पुरु॒स्पृह॑म् | इन्दो॑ स॒हस्र॑भर्णसं तुविद्यु॒म्नं वि॑भ्वा॒सह॑म् ||

abhí no vājasā́tamaṁ rayím arṣa puruspŕ̥ham índo sahásrabharṇasaṁ tuvidyumnáṁ vibhvāsáham

O Soma, pour upon us the most wealth-gaining riches, desired by many, and abundant strength. O Soma, grant us riches that are thousand-fold, glorious, and conquering.

Stanza 9.98.2

परि॒ ष्य सु॑वा॒नो अ॒व्ययं॒ रथे॒ न वर्मा॑व्यत | इन्दु॑र॒भि द्रुणा॑ हि॒तो हि॑या॒नो धारा॑भिरक्षाः ||

pári ṣyá suvānó avyáyaṁ ráthe ná vármāvyata índur abhí drúṇā hitó hiyānó dhā́rābhir akṣāḥ

Having been pressed, this Soma flowed around, like armor on a chariot. O Soma, you flowed forth, propelled by streams, into the wood.

Stanza 9.98.3

परि॒ ष्य सु॑वा॒नो अ॑क्षा॒ इन्दु॒रव्ये॒ मद॑च्युतः | धारा॒ य ऊ॒र्ध्वो अ॑ध्व॒रे भ्रा॒जा नैति॑ गव्य॒युः ||

pári ṣyá suvānó akṣā índur ávye mádacyutaḥ dhā́rā yá ūrdhvó adhvaré bhrājā́ naíti gavyayúḥ

This Soma, flowing through the filter, moved and released joy. It flows upwards in the sacrifice, radiant and pure, moving like one seeking cows.

Stanza 9.98.4

स हि त्वं दे॑व॒ शश्व॑ते॒ वसु॒ मर्ता॑य दा॒शुषे॑ | इन्दो॑ सह॒स्रिणं॑ र॒यिं श॒तात्मा॑नं विवाससि ||

sá hí tváṁ deva śáśvate vásu mártāya dāśúṣe índo sahasríṇaṁ rayíṁ śatā́tmānaṁ vivāsasi

Indeed, O God, you, O Soma, attract wealth for the worshipper who always offers. O Soma, you bestow thousands and hundreds of riches.

Stanza 9.98.5

व॒यं ते॑ अ॒स्य वृ॑त्रह॒न्वसो॒ वस्वः॑ पुरु॒स्पृहः॑ | नि नेदि॑ष्ठतमा इ॒षः स्याम॑ सु॒म्नस्या॑ध्रिगो ||

vayáṁ te asyá vr̥trahan váso vásvaḥ puruspŕ̥haḥ ní nédiṣṭhatamā iṣáḥ syā́ma sumnásyādhrigo

O slayer of Vritra, sustainer of wealth, may we be very near your wealth, which is much desired. O irresistible one, may we be near food and favor.

Stanza 9.98.6

द्विर्यं पञ्च॒ स्वय॑शसं॒ स्वसा॑रो॒ अद्रि॑संहतम् | प्रि॒यमिन्द्र॑स्य॒ काम्यं॑ प्रस्ना॒पय॑न्त्यू॒र्मिण॑म् ||

dvír yám páñca sváyaśasaṁ svásāro ádrisaṁhatam priyám índrasya kā́myam prasnāpáyanty ūrmíṇam

Whom the twice-five sisters, with their radiant selves, bathe and process, the beloved of Indra, crushed between the pressing stones.

Stanza 9.98.7

परि॒ त्यं ह॑र्य॒तं हरिं॑ ब॒भ्रुं पु॑नन्ति॒ वारे॑ण | यो दे॒वान्विश्वाँ॒ इत्परि॒ मदे॑न स॒ह गच्छ॑ति ||

pári tyáṁ haryatáṁ hárim babhrúm punanti vā́reṇa yó devā́n víśvām̐ ít pári mádena sahá gáchati

They purify that brown, golden Soma with the filter. He moves with all the gods, with exhilaration, reaching everywhere.

Stanza 9.98.8

अ॒स्य वो॒ ह्यव॑सा॒ पान्तो॑ दक्ष॒साध॑नम् | यः सू॒रिषु॒ श्रवो॑ बृ॒हद्द॒धे स्व१॒॑र्ण ह॑र्य॒तः ||

asyá vo hy ávasā pā́nto dakṣasā́dhanam yáḥ sūríṣu śrávo br̥hád dadhé svàr ṇá haryatáḥ

O drinkers, through your support, may we obtain this Soma which brings strength. He who possesses brilliant fame among the wise, like the sun, obtains it.

Stanza 9.98.9

स वां॑ य॒ज्ञेषु॑ मानवी॒ इन्दु॑र्जनिष्ट रोदसी | दे॒वो दे॑वी गिरि॒ष्ठा अस्रे॑ध॒न्तं तु॑वि॒ष्वणि॑ ||

sá vāṁ yajñéṣu mānavī índur janiṣṭa rodasī devó devī giriṣṭhā́ ásredhan táṁ tuviṣváṇi

That Soma, O divine pair, produced you, O divine goddesses, for the two human companions at the sacrifices. He, the divine dweller of the mountains, and the goddesses, crushed him where the noise was intense.

Stanza 9.98.10

इन्द्रा॑य सोम॒ पात॑वे वृत्र॒घ्ने परि॑ षिच्यसे | नरे॑ च॒ दक्षि॑णावते दे॒वाय॑ सदना॒सदे॑ ||

índrāya soma pā́tave vr̥traghné pári ṣicyase náre ca dákṣiṇāvate devā́ya sadanāsáde

O Soma, you are poured for Indra to drink, the slayer of Vritra. You are poured for the man who gives gifts, and for the god who sits in his dwelling.

Stanza 9.98.11

ते प्र॒त्नासो॒ व्यु॑ष्टिषु॒ सोमाः॑ प॒वित्रे॑ अक्षरन् | अ॒प॒प्रोथ॑न्तः सनु॒तर्हु॑र॒श्चितः॑ प्रा॒तस्ताँ अप्र॑चेतसः ||

té pratnā́so vyùṣṭiṣu sómāḥ pavítre akṣaran apapróthantaḥ sanutár huraścítaḥ prātás tā́m̐ ápracetasaḥ

These ancient Somass flowed through the filter at dawn. They cleansed themselves, pushing away the foolish and those with evil intentions in the morning.

Stanza 9.98.12

तं स॑खायः पुरो॒रुचं॑ यू॒यं व॒यं च॑ सू॒रयः॑ | अ॒श्याम॒ वाज॑गन्ध्यं स॒नेम॒ वाज॑पस्त्यम् ||

táṁ sakhāyaḥ purorúcaṁ yūyáṁ vayáṁ ca sūráyaḥ aśyā́ma vā́jagandhyaṁ sanéma vā́japastyam

O friends, may you and we, the wise, obtain this very radiant Soma. May we obtain the one who smells of strength and win the one whose home is strength.
