When praises and thoughts, like shining beauties, contend for the Soma, as if in a race, and like people for the sun, he flows, purifying himself with waters and songs, like a stable for the nourishment of cattle.
This verse describes the Soma plant, personified as a sage, whose juices are being pressed. The beautiful attributes and thoughts associated with Soma are striving and competing, much like skilled warriors in a race or a vibrant herd of cattle. Soma, flowing like water, is adorned with these divine thoughts and songs, like a stable that nurtures prosperity and growth for livestock.
