Stanza 9.74.1

शिशु॒र्न जा॒तोऽव॑ चक्रद॒द्वने॒ स्व१॒॑र्यद्वा॒ज्य॑रु॒षः सिषा॑सति | दि॒वो रेत॑सा सचते पयो॒वृधा॒ तमी॑महे सुम॒ती शर्म॑ स॒प्रथः॑ ||

śíśur ná jātó 'va cakradad váne svàr yád vājy àruṣáḥ síṣāsati divó rétasā sacate payovŕ̥dhā tám īmahe sumatī́ śárma sapráthaḥ

Like a newborn child, he cried out in the forest. The powerful, reddish one strives to attain the heavenly light. He unites with the divine essence that nourishes the waters. We invoke him for wide-reaching protection and well-being.

Stanza 9.74.2

दि॒वो यः स्क॒म्भो ध॒रुणः॒ स्वा॑तत॒ आपू॑र्णो अं॒शुः प॒र्येति॑ वि॒श्वतः॑ | सेमे म॒ही रोद॑सी यक्षदा॒वृता॑ समीची॒ने दा॑धार॒ समिषः॑ क॒विः ||

divó yá skambhó dharúṇaḥ svāā̀tata ā́pūrṇo aṁśúḥ paryéti viśvátaḥ sémé mahī́ ródasī yakṣad āvŕ̥tā samīcīné dādhāra sám íṣaḥ kavíḥ

He is the pillar that supports the sky, the divine essence that is completely full and moves everywhere. He holds together the great earth and sky, and the wise one sustains them and all sustenance.

Stanza 9.74.3

महि॒ प्सरः॒ सुकृ॑तं सो॒म्यं मधू॒र्वी गव्यू॑ति॒रदि॑तेर्ऋ॒तं य॒ते | ईशे॒ यो वृ॒ष्टेरि॒त उ॒स्रियो॒ वृषा॒पां ने॒ता य इ॒तऊ॑तिर्ऋ॒ग्मियः॑ ||

máhi psáraḥ súkr̥taṁ somyám mádhūrvī́ gávyūtir áditer r̥táṁ yaté ī́śe yó vr̥ṣṭér itá usríyo vŕ̥ṣāpā́ṁ netā́ yá itáūtir r̥gmíyaḥ

Vastness and well-being arise for him who follows Aditi's order, and his well-made, Soma-infused sweetness. He is the one who commands the rain, the leader of the cows, the leader of the waters; he who is invoked and celebrated with hymns.

Stanza 9.74.4

आ॒त्म॒न्वन्नभो॑ दुह्यते घृ॒तं पय॑ ऋ॒तस्य॒ नाभि॑र॒मृतं॒ वि जा॑यते | स॒मी॒ची॒नाः सु॒दान॑वः प्रीणन्ति॒ तं नरो॑ हि॒तमव॑ मेहन्ति॒ पेर॑वः ||

ātmanván nábho duhyate ghr̥tám páya r̥tásya nā́bhir amŕ̥taṁ ví jāyate samīcīnā́ḥ sudā́navaḥ prīṇanti táṁ náro hitám áva mehanti péravaḥ

The animated sky (cloud) yields clarified butter and milk. This is the center of cosmic order, from which immortality is born. The generous ones, united in their offerings, delight him. Men, as friends, bring forth from him, causing him to rain.

Stanza 9.74.5

अरा॑वीदं॒शुः सच॑मान ऊ॒र्मिणा॑ देवा॒व्यं१॒॑ मनु॑षे पिन्वति॒ त्वच॑म् | दधा॑ति॒ गर्भ॒मदि॑तेरु॒पस्थ॒ आ येन॑ तो॒कं च॒ तन॑यं च॒ धाम॑हे ||

árāvīd aṁśúḥ sácamāna ūrmíṇā devāvyàm mánuṣe pinvati tvácam dádhāti gárbham áditer upástha ā́ yéna tokáṁ ca tánayaṁ ca dhā́mahe

The Soma-stalk roared, moving with a wave. Its essence flows, pleasing to the gods, to nourish man. It holds a germ in Aditi's lap, by which we obtain children and descendants.

Stanza 9.74.6

स॒हस्र॑धा॒रेऽव॒ ता अ॑स॒श्चत॑स्तृ॒तीये॑ सन्तु॒ रज॑सि प्र॒जाव॑तीः | चत॑स्रो॒ नाभो॒ निहि॑ता अ॒वो दि॒वो ह॒विर्भ॑रन्त्य॒मृतं॑ घृत॒श्चुतः॑ ||

sahásradhāré 'va tā́ asaścátas tr̥tī́ye santu rájasi prajā́vatīḥ cátasro nā́bho níhitā avó divó havír bharanty amŕ̥taṁ ghr̥taścútaḥ

May the inexhaustible ones, with a thousand streams, descend into the third realm, becoming fertile. The four, placed in the sky's center, bring sacred offerings and immortality, dripping with ghee.

Stanza 9.74.7

श्वे॒तं रू॒पं कृ॑णुते॒ यत्सिषा॑सति॒ सोमो॑ मी॒ढ्वाँ असु॑रो वेद॒ भूम॑नः | धि॒या शमी॑ सचते॒ सेम॒भि प्र॒वद्दि॒वस्कव॑न्ध॒मव॑ दर्षदु॒द्रिण॑म् ||

śvetáṁ rūpáṁ kr̥ṇute yát síṣāsati sómo mīḍhvā́m̐ ásuro veda bhū́manaḥ dhiyā́ śámī sacate sém abhí pravád divás kávandham áva darṣad udríṇam

When Soma strives to attain, he takes on a white form. The powerful divine being knows many precious things. Through thought and song, he approaches the sacrifice. He is capable of breaking apart the heavenly reservoir.

Stanza 9.74.8

अध॑ श्वे॒तं क॒लशं॒ गोभि॑र॒क्तं कार्ष्म॒न्ना वा॒ज्य॑क्रमीत्सस॒वान् | आ हि॑न्विरे॒ मन॑सा देव॒यन्तः॑ क॒क्षीव॑ते श॒तहि॑माय॒ गोना॑म् ||

ádha śvetáṁ kaláśaṁ góbhir aktáṁ kā́rṣmann ā́ vājy àkramīt sasavā́n ā́ hinvire mánasā devayántaḥ kakṣī́vate śatáhimāya gónām

Indeed, the swift courser approached the white vessel, anointed with milk. The worshippers, with their minds, have sent cattle to Kakshivan, the one of a hundred winters.

Stanza 9.74.9

अ॒द्भिः सो॑म पपृचा॒नस्य॑ ते॒ रसोऽव्यो॒ वारं॒ वि प॑वमान धावति | स मृ॒ज्यमा॑नः क॒विभि॑र्मदिन्तम॒ स्वद॒स्वेन्द्रा॑य पवमान पी॒तये॑ ||

adbhíḥ soma papr̥cānásya te rásó 'vyo vā́raṁ ví pavamāna dhāvati sá mr̥jyámānaḥ kavíbhir madintama svádasvéndrāya pavamāna pītáye

O Soma, your essence, mixed with waters, flows through the woolly filter. Cleansed by the sages, you become most delightful. O Pavamana, grow sweet for Indra's enjoyment and drinking.
