Stanza 9.68.1

प्र दे॒वमच्छा॒ मधु॑मन्त॒ इन्द॒वोऽसि॑ष्यदन्त॒ गाव॒ आ न धे॒नवः॑ | ब॒र्हि॒षदो॑ वच॒नाव॑न्त॒ ऊध॑भिः परि॒स्रुत॑मु॒स्रिया॑ नि॒र्णिजं॑ धिरे ||

prá devám áchā mádhumanta índavó 'siṣyadanta gā́va ā́ ná dhenávaḥ barhiṣádo vacanā́vanta ū́dhabhiḥ parisrútam usríyā nirṇíjaṁ dhire

The sweet Soma drops, like abundant cows, have flowed towards the god. Seated on the sacrificial grass, they have filled themselves with frothy essence, appearing like udders full of milk.

Stanza 9.68.2

स रोरु॑वद॒भि पूर्वा॑ अचिक्रददुपा॒रुहः॑ श्र॒थय॑न्त्स्वादते॒ हरिः॑ | ति॒रः प॒वित्रं॑ परि॒यन्नु॒रु ज्रयो॒ नि शर्या॑णि दधते दे॒व आ वर॑म् ||

sá róruvad abhí pū́rvā acikradad upārúhaḥ śratháyan svādate háriḥ tiráḥ pavítram pariyánn urú jráyo ní śáryāṇi dadhate devá ā́ váram

Roaring loudly, he moves around the upper branches, breaking them. The yellow Soma, as it flows through the strainer into the wide space, becomes sweet. The god then willingly accepts it, settling with its essence.

Stanza 9.68.3

वि यो म॒मे य॒म्या॑ संय॒ती मदः॑ साकं॒वृधा॒ पय॑सा पिन्व॒दक्षि॑ता | म॒ही अ॑पा॒रे रज॑सी वि॒वेवि॑ददभि॒व्रज॒न्नक्षि॑तं॒ पाज॒ आ द॑दे ||

ví yó mamé yamyāā̀ saṁyatī́ mádaḥ sākaṁvŕ̥dhā páyasā pinvad ákṣitā mahī́ apāré rájasī vivévidad abhivrájann ákṣitam pā́ja ā́ dade

The exhilarating Soma, having measured itself between the twin deities, fills them with milk-like essence. Having revealed the two vast spaces, it moves through them, gaining an unfading brightness.

Stanza 9.68.4

स मा॒तरा॑ वि॒चर॑न्वा॒जय॑न्न॒पः प्र मेधि॑रः स्व॒धया॑ पिन्वते प॒दम् | अं॒शुर्यवे॑न पिपिशे य॒तो नृभिः॒ सं जा॒मिभि॒र्नस॑ते॒ रक्ष॑ते॒ शिरः॑ ||

sá mātárā vicáran vājáyann apáḥ prá médhiraḥ svadháyā pinvate padám aṁśúr yávena pipiśe yató nŕ̥bhiḥ sáṁ jāmíbhir násate rákṣate śíraḥ

Moving and strengthening the waters, this wise Soma makes its dwelling expand with its own power. The stalk, mixed with grain, becomes beautified. It joins with men and its kin, preserving its vital essence.

Stanza 9.68.5

सं दक्षे॑ण॒ मन॑सा जायते क॒विर्ऋ॒तस्य॒ गर्भो॒ निहि॑तो य॒मा प॒रः | यूना॑ ह॒ सन्ता॑ प्रथ॒मं वि ज॑ज्ञतु॒र्गुहा॑ हि॒तं जनि॑म॒ नेम॒मुद्य॑तम् ||

sáṁ dákṣeṇa mánasā jāyate kavír r̥tásya gárbho níhito yamā́ paráḥ yū́nā ha sántā prathamáṁ ví jajñatur gúhā hitáṁ jánima némam údyatam

Born with sharp intellect, the wise Soma is placed as the germ of order, far from the twin forces. These two, when young, clearly revealed both their hidden and apparent natures.

Stanza 9.68.6

म॒न्द्रस्य॑ रू॒पं वि॑विदुर्मनी॒षिणः॑ श्ये॒नो यदन्धो॒ अभ॑रत्परा॒वतः॑ | तं म॑र्जयन्त सु॒वृधं॑ न॒दीष्वाँ उ॒शन्त॑मं॒शुं प॑रि॒यन्त॑मृ॒ग्मिय॑म् ||

mandrásya rūpáṁ vividur manīṣíṇaḥ śyenó yád ándho ábharat parāvátaḥ tám marjayanta suvŕ̥dhaṁ nadī́ṣv ā́m̐ uśántam aṁśúm pariyántam r̥gmíyam

The wise poets recognized the form of the exhilarating Soma. When the Falcon brought the plant from afar, they purified it in streams. They honored this Soma, who desired it, as he flowed mightily and was praiseworthy.

Stanza 9.68.7

त्वां मृ॑जन्ति॒ दश॒ योष॑णः सु॒तं सोम॒ ऋषि॑भिर्म॒तिभि॑र्धी॒तिभि॑र्हि॒तम् | अव्यो॒ वारे॑भिरु॒त दे॒वहू॑तिभि॒र्नृभि॑र्य॒तो वाज॒मा द॑र्षि सा॒तये॑ ||

tvā́m mr̥janti dáśa yóṣaṇaḥ sutáṁ sóma ŕ̥ṣibhir matíbhir dhītíbhir hitám ávyo vā́rebhir utá deváhūtibhir nŕ̥bhir yató vā́jam ā́ darṣi sātáye

Ten women adorn you, Soma, with thoughts and hymns, O Soma, when pressed. Through woolens and divine invitations, led by men, you grant us strength and prosperity.

Stanza 9.68.8

प॒रि॒प्र॒यन्तं॑ व॒य्यं॑ सुषं॒सदं॒ सोमं॑ मनी॒षा अ॒भ्य॑नूषत॒ स्तुभः॑ | यो धार॑या॒ मधु॑माँ ऊ॒र्मिणा॑ दि॒व इय॑र्ति॒ वाचं॑ रयि॒षाळम॑र्त्यः ||

pariprayántaṁ vayyàṁ suṣaṁsádaṁ sómam manīṣā́ abhy ànūṣata stúbhaḥ yó dhā́rayā mádhumām̐ ūrmíṇā divá íyarti vā́caṁ rayiṣā́ḷ ámartyaḥ

Songs of praise have celebrated Soma, who flows around and has excellent companionship. This Soma, rich in sweet essence, sends his voice from heaven with a divine stream, the wealth-conquering immortal.

Stanza 9.68.9

अ॒यं दि॒व इ॑यर्ति॒ विश्व॒मा रजः॒ सोमः॑ पुना॒नः क॒लशे॑षु सीदति | अ॒द्भिर्गोभि॑र्मृज्यते॒ अद्रि॑भिः सु॒तः पु॑ना॒न इन्दु॒र्वरि॑वो विदत्प्रि॒यम् ||

ayáṁ divá iyarti víśvam ā́ rájaḥ sómaḥ punānáḥ kaláśeṣu sīdati adbhír góbhir mr̥jyate ádribhiḥ sutáḥ punāná índur várivo vidat priyám

This Soma, purified, sends all the regions forth from heaven. He settles in the jars, purified by waters and milk, and pressed by stones. This purified Soma finds ample and pleasant space.

Stanza 9.68.10

ए॒वा नः॑ सोम परिषि॒च्यमा॑नो॒ वयो॒ दध॑च्चि॒त्रत॑मं पवस्व | अ॒द्वे॒षे द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी हु॑वेम॒ देवा॑ ध॒त्त र॒यिम॒स्मे सु॒वीर॑म् ||

evā́ naḥ soma pariṣicyámāno váyo dádhac citrátamam pavasva adveṣé dyā́vāpr̥thivī́ huvema dévā dhattá rayím asmé suvī́ram

O Soma, as you are poured out, grant us the most brilliant vitality. We invoke the benevolent Heaven and Earth. O Gods, give us wealth with heroic sons.
