tárobhir vo vidádvasum índraṁ sabā́dha ūtáye br̥hád gā́yantaḥ sutásome adhvaré huvé bháraṁ ná kāríṇam

With mighty efforts and loud songs, we priests, at the sacrifice where Soma is pressed, invoke you, O Indra, as the bestower of wealth, for your assistance. We call you, just as one calls a supporter of a singer.

Stanza 8.66.2

ná yáṁ dudhrā́ várante ná sthirā́ múro máde suśiprám ándhasaḥ yá ādŕ̥tyā śaśamānā́ya sunvaté dā́tā jaritrá ukthyàm

Those who are mighty and unwavering do not hinder him, O Indra, who is resplendent with a fine countenance, during the intoxicating Soma juice. He, the giver, bestows praise and glory upon the worshipper who, with reverence, performs the Soma pressing.

Stanza 8.66.3

yáḥ śakró mr̥kṣó áśvyo yó vā kī́jo hiraṇyáyaḥ sá ūrvásya rejayaty ápāvr̥tim índro gávyasya vr̥trahā́

He, the powerful one, is like a horse groomer, or a golden goad. Indra, the slayer of Vritra, makes the enclosure of cows tremble.

Stanza 8.66.4

níkhātaṁ cid yáḥ purusambhr̥táṁ vásū́d íd vápati dāśúṣe vajrī́ suśipró háryaśva ít karad índraḥ krátvā yáthā váśat

He, the thunderbolt-wielder, the sharp-faced, the owner of bay horses, scatters forth wealth, even buried wealth, for the worshipper. May Indra act according to his own will.

Stanza 8.66.5

O Indra, praised by many, hero, what you have desired from men in the past, all that, O Indra, we bring to you now, this sacrifice, this hymn, this potent speech.

Stanza 8.66.6

Come, O much-invited one, O thunder-armed Indra, for enjoyment in the Soma. O celestial, O Soma-drinker, you are the best giver of desirable wealth to the one who praises and presses Soma.

Stanza 8.66.7

vayám enam idā́ hyó 'pīpemehá vajríṇam tásmā u adyá samanā́ sutám bharā́ nūnám bhūṣata śruté

We, O thunder-wielder, yesterday allowed you to drink the Soma. Today, we offer you the Soma. Come now, O glorious one, to us.

Stanza 8.66.8

vŕ̥kaś cid asya vāraṇá urāmáthir ā́ vayúneṣu bhūṣati sémáṁ na stómaṁ jujuṣāṇá ā́ gahi índra prá citráyā dhiyā́

Even the wolf, the protector, follows the order in his actions. So, O Indra, accepting our praise, come to us with your brilliant thought.

Stanza 8.66.9

kád ū nv àsyā́kr̥tam índrasyāsti paúṁsyam kéno nú kaṁ śrómatena ná śuśruve janúṣaḥ pári vr̥trahā́

What is left undone of Indra's might? Who has not heard of the Vritra-slayer's deeds from his birth?

Stanza 8.66.10

How great are his powerful, unhindered strengths? How invincible is the Vritra-slayer's might? Indra surpasses all greedy merchants and traffickers in strength.

Stanza 8.66.11

O Indra, Vritra-slayer, we, your ever-present worshippers, bring you these unprecedented hymns. O much-invoked, O thunder-armed one, we offer them as your rightful due.

Stanza 8.66.12

pūrvī́ś cid dhí tvé tuvikūrminn āśáso hávanta indrotáyaḥ tiráś cid aryáḥ sávanā́ vaso gahi śáviṣṭha śrudhí me hávam

O Indra, of mighty deeds, we call upon you, who possess many powers. Come to us past the offerings and beyond the wealth of the noble ones, O Vasu, Strongest one, hear our call.

Stanza 8.66.13

We, O Indra, wise ones, are truly yours. No one else, O much-invoked Maghavan, is a protector for us.

Stanza 8.66.14

tváṁ no asyā́ ámater utá kṣudhò 'bhíśaster áva spr̥dhi tváṁ na ūtī́ táva citráyā dhiyā́ śíkṣā śaciṣṭha gātuvít

O Indra, protect us from this misery and hunger, and from this curse. With your help and wondrous thought, teach us the way, O most mighty one.

Stanza 8.66.15

sóma íd vaḥ sutó astu kálayo mā́ bibhītana ápéd eṣá dhvasmā́yati svayáṁ ghaiṣó ápāyati

Let your Soma be pressed, O sons of Kali; do not fear. That darkness approaches and departs by itself.
