Stanza 8.63.1

स पू॒र्व्यो म॒हानां॑ वे॒नः क्रतु॑भिरानजे | यस्य॒ द्वारा॒ मनु॑ष्पि॒ता दे॒वेषु॒ धिय॑ आन॒जे ||

sá pūrvyó mahā́nāṁ venáḥ krátubhir ānaje yásya dvā́rā mánuṣ pitā́ devéṣu dhíya ānajé

That ancient and beloved Vena was adorned with great powers through his wisdom. Through him, Manu, the father, made his prayers effective among the gods.

Stanza 8.63.2

दि॒वो मानं॒ नोत्स॑द॒न्त्सोम॑पृष्ठासो॒ अद्र॑यः | उ॒क्था ब्रह्म॑ च॒ शंस्या॑ ||

divó mā́naṁ nót sadan sómapr̥ṣṭhāso ádrayaḥ ukthā́ bráhma ca śáṁsyā

May the creator of the sky not depart from us; may the Soma-smeared pressing stones and the laudable verses and prayers not abandon us.

Stanza 8.63.3

स वि॒द्वाँ अङ्गि॑रोभ्य॒ इन्द्रो॒ गा अ॑वृणो॒दप॑ | स्तु॒षे तद॑स्य॒ पौंस्य॑म् ||

sá vidvā́m̐ áṅgirobhya índro gā́ avr̥ṇod ápa stuṣé tád asya paúṁsyam

That knowing Indra liberated the cows for the Angirases. Let us praise that strength of his.

Stanza 8.63.4

स प्र॒त्नथा॑ कविवृ॒ध इन्द्रो॑ वा॒कस्य॑ व॒क्षणिः॑ | शि॒वो अ॒र्कस्य॒ होम॑न्यस्म॒त्रा ग॒न्त्वव॑से ||

sá pratnáthā kavivr̥dhá índro vākásya vakṣáṇiḥ śivó arkásya hómany asmatrā́ gantv ávase

Indra, the increaser of the poet, anciently, the sustainer of speech, the auspicious one of the hymn, may he come to us for protection.

Stanza 8.63.5

आदू॒ नु ते॒ अनु॒ क्रतुं॒ स्वाहा॒ वर॑स्य॒ यज्य॑वः | श्वा॒त्रम॒र्का अ॑नूष॒तेन्द्र॑ गो॒त्रस्य॑ दा॒वने॑ ||

ā́d ū nú te ánu krátuṁ svā́hā várasya yájyavaḥ śvātrám arkā́ anūṣaténdra gotrásya dāváne

Now, following your will, O pious sacrificers, we, with the exclamation 'Svaha!', sing loudly to you, Indra, for the sake of the gotra (protection/gain).

Stanza 8.63.6

इन्द्रे॒ विश्वा॑नि वी॒र्या॑ कृ॒तानि॒ कर्त्वा॑नि च | यम॒र्का अ॑ध्व॒रं वि॒दुः ||

índre víśvāni vīryāā̀ kr̥tā́ni kártvāni ca yám arkā́ adhvaráṁ vidúḥ

All deeds and actions are in Indra. The singers know him.

Stanza 8.63.7

यत्पाञ्च॑जन्यया वि॒शेन्द्रे॒ घोषा॒ असृ॑क्षत | अस्तृ॑णाद्ब॒र्हणा॑ वि॒पो॒३॒॑ऽर्यो मान॑स्य॒ स क्षयः॑ ||

yát pā́ñcajanyayā viśéndre ghóṣā ásr̥kṣata ástr̥ṇād barháṇā vipó 'ryó mā́nasya sá kṣáyaḥ

When the five tribes with their people, with their voices, arose to Indra, when the priest spread the sacred grass, these praises are the dwelling of the Friend (Indra).

Stanza 8.63.8

इ॒यमु॑ ते॒ अनु॑ष्टुतिश्चकृ॒षे तानि॒ पौंस्या॑ | प्राव॑श्च॒क्रस्य॑ वर्त॒निम् ||

iyám u te ánuṣṭutiś cakr̥ṣé tā́ni paúṁsyā prā́vaś cakrásya vartaním

This praise is yours, you have performed those mighty deeds. You kept the wheel turning.

Stanza 8.63.9

अ॒स्य वृष्णो॒ व्योद॑न उ॒रु क्र॑मिष्ट जी॒वसे॑ | यवं॒ न प॒श्व आ द॑दे ||

asyá vŕ̥ṣṇo vyódana urú kramiṣṭa jīváse yávaṁ ná paśvá ā́ dade

At the overflowing of this strong one (Indra), he strode widely for life. He accepted Soma, as cattle accept barley.

Stanza 8.63.10

तद्दधा॑ना अव॒स्यवो॑ यु॒ष्माभि॒र्दक्ष॑पितरः | स्याम॑ म॒रुत्व॑तो वृ॒धे ||

tád dádhānā avasyávo yuṣmā́bhir dákṣapitaraḥ syā́ma marútvato vr̥dhé

Receiving this, and seeking help, may we, with you, O protectors of strength, be strengthened with the Maruts.

Stanza 8.63.11

बळृ॒त्विया॑य॒ धाम्न॒ ऋक्व॑भिः शूर नोनुमः | जेषा॑मेन्द्र॒ त्वया॑ यु॒जा ||

báḷ r̥tvíyāya dhā́mna ŕ̥kvabhiḥ śūra nonumaḥ jéṣāmendra tváyā yujā́

O Hero, with hymns we praise the divine abode, whose coming is timely. May we, through your alliance, O Indra, conquer.

Stanza 8.63.12

अ॒स्मे रु॒द्रा मे॒हना॒ पर्व॑तासो वृत्र॒हत्ये॒ भर॑हूतौ स॒जोषाः॑ | यः शंस॑ते स्तुव॒ते धायि॑ प॒ज्र इन्द्र॑ज्येष्ठा अ॒स्माँ अ॑वन्तु दे॒वाः ||

asmé rudrā́ mehánā párvatāso vr̥trahátye bhárahūtau sajóṣāḥ yáḥ śáṁsate stuvaté dhā́yi pajrá índrajyeṣṭhā asmā́m̐ avantu devā́ḥ

With us are the Rudras, and the mountains in their power, united in the fight against Vritra, and in the offering of praise. He who sings and praises, strength is assigned to him. May the gods, with Indra at their head, protect us.
