Stanza 8.5.1

दू॒रादि॒हेव॒ यत्स॒त्य॑रु॒णप्सु॒रशि॑श्वितत् | वि भा॒नुं वि॒श्वधा॑तनत् ||

dūrā́d ihéva yát saty àruṇápsur áśiśvitat ví bhānúṁ viśvádhātanat

Just as if it were present here, the red dawn, shining from afar, has spread its light everywhere.

Stanza 8.5.2

नृ॒वद्द॑स्रा मनो॒युजा॒ रथे॑न पृथु॒पाज॑सा | सचे॑थे अश्विनो॒षस॑म् ||

nr̥vád dasrā manoyújā ráthena pr̥thupā́jasā sácethe aśvinoṣásam

O Ashvins, like heroes, with your mind-yoked, far-shining chariot of great power, you attend the dawn.

Stanza 8.5.3

यु॒वाभ्यां॑ वाजिनीवसू॒ प्रति॒ स्तोमा॑ अदृक्षत | वाचं॑ दू॒तो यथो॑हिषे ||

yuvā́bhyāṁ vājinīvasū práti stómā adr̥kṣata vā́caṁ dūtó yáthohiṣe

For you, O abundant wealth possessors, these praises have appeared. As an envoy, I have brought the word as you inspired me.

Stanza 8.5.4

पु॒रु॒प्रि॒या ण॑ ऊ॒तये॑ पुरुम॒न्द्रा पु॑रू॒वसू॑ | स्तु॒षे कण्वा॑सो अ॒श्विना॑ ||

purupriyā́ ṇa ūtáye purumandrā́ purūvásū stuṣé káṇvāso aśvínā

O Ashvins, beloved by many, gladdening many, possessing great wealth, we praise you for our protection.

Stanza 8.5.5

मंहि॑ष्ठा वाज॒सात॑मे॒षय॑न्ता शु॒भस्पती॑ | गन्ता॑रा दा॒शुषो॑ गृ॒हम् ||

máṁhiṣṭhā vājasā́tameṣáyantā śubhás pátī gántārā dāśúṣo gr̥hám

O most liberal, best at winning riches, inspiring lords of splendor, you are coming to the home of the sacrificer.

Stanza 8.5.6

ता सु॑दे॒वाय॑ दा॒शुषे॑ सुमे॒धामवि॑तारिणीम् | घृ॒तैर्गव्यू॑तिमुक्षतम् ||

tā́ sudevā́ya dāśúṣe sumedhā́m ávitāriṇīm ghr̥taír gávyūtim ukṣatam

O Ashvins, for the devoted Sudeva, sprinkle with ghee the excellent, unfailing sustenance.

Stanza 8.5.7

आ नः॒ स्तोम॒मुप॑ द्र॒वत्तूयं॑ श्ये॒नेभि॑रा॒शुभिः॑ | या॒तमश्वे॑भिरश्विना ||

ā́ na stómam úpa dravát tū́yaṁ śyenébhir āśúbhiḥ yātám áśvebhir aśvinā

Come swiftly towards our song of praise, O Ashvins, with your swift horses, like rapid hawks.

Stanza 8.5.8

येभि॑स्ति॒स्रः प॑रा॒वतो॑ दि॒वो विश्वा॑नि रोच॒ना | त्रीँर॒क्तून्प॑रि॒दीय॑थः ||

yébhis tisráḥ parāváto divó víśvāni rocanā́ trī́m̐r aktū́n paridī́yathaḥ

By which (your aids), you traverse the three distant regions of the sky, all lights, and the three nights.

Stanza 8.5.9

उ॒त नो॒ गोम॑ती॒रिष॑ उ॒त सा॒तीर॑हर्विदा | वि प॒थः सा॒तये॑ सितम् ||

utá no gómatīr íṣa utá sātī́r aharvidā ví patháḥ sātáye sitam

O finders of the day, open for us the paths to gain riches with cows and wealth.

Stanza 8.5.10

आ नो॒ गोम॑न्तमश्विना सु॒वीरं॑ सु॒रथं॑ र॒यिम् | वो॒ळ्हमश्वा॑वती॒रिषः॑ ||

ā́ no gómantam aśvinā suvī́raṁ suráthaṁ rayím voḷhám áśvāvatīr íṣaḥ

O Ashvins, bring us wealth with cows, with good heroes, with good chariots, and carry forth the food that comes with horses.

Stanza 8.5.11

वा॒वृ॒धा॒ना शु॑भस्पती दस्रा॒ हिर॑ण्यवर्तनी | पिब॑तं सो॒म्यं मधु॑ ||

vāvr̥dhānā́ śubhas patī dasrā híraṇyavartanī píbataṁ somyám mádhu

O lords of splendor, growing in strength, traveling on golden paths, O wondrous healers, drink the Soma-sweetness.

Stanza 8.5.12

अ॒स्मभ्यं॑ वाजिनीवसू म॒घव॑द्भ्यश्च स॒प्रथः॑ | छ॒र्दिर्य॑न्त॒मदा॑भ्यम् ||

asmábhyaṁ vājinīvasū maghávadbhyaś ca sapráthaḥ chardír yantam ádābhyam

O possessors of wealth and strength, extend to us and to the generous patrons an unbreakable, broad shelter.

Stanza 8.5.13

नि षु ब्रह्म॒ जना॑नां॒ यावि॑ष्टं॒ तूय॒मा ग॑तम् | मो ष्व१॒॑न्याँ उपा॑रतम् ||

ní ṣú bráhma jánānāṁ yā́viṣṭaṁ tū́yam ā́ gatam mó ṣv ànyā́m̐ úpāratam

Descend quickly to the prayers of the people whom you favor; do not turn to others.

Stanza 8.5.14

अ॒स्य पि॑बतमश्विना यु॒वं मद॑स्य॒ चारु॑णः | मध्वो॑ रा॒तस्य॑ धिष्ण्या ||

asyá pibatam aśvinā yuvám mádasya cā́ruṇaḥ mádhvo rātásya dhiṣṇyā

O Ashvins, you two drink this delightful essence of the given sweetness, O honored ones.

Stanza 8.5.15

अ॒स्मे आ व॑हतं र॒यिं श॒तव॑न्तं सह॒स्रिण॑म् | पु॒रु॒क्षुं वि॒श्वधा॑यसम् ||

asmé ā́ vahataṁ rayíṁ śatávantaṁ sahasríṇam purukṣúṁ viśvádhāyasam

O Ashvins, bring to us wealth containing hundreds, thousands, abundant food, and sustenance for all.

Stanza 8.5.16

पु॒रु॒त्रा चि॒द्धि वां॑ नरा वि॒ह्वय॑न्ते मनी॒षिणः॑ | वा॒घद्भि॑रश्वि॒ना ग॑तम् ||

purutrā́ cid dhí vāṁ narā vihváyante manīṣíṇaḥ vāghádbhir aśvinā́ gatam

O heroes, indeed sages call upon you in many places; with hymns, O Ashvins, come.

Stanza 8.5.17

जना॑सो वृ॒क्तब॑र्हिषो ह॒विष्म॑न्तो अरं॒कृतः॑ | यु॒वां ह॑वन्ते अश्विना ||

jánāso vr̥ktábarhiṣo havíṣmanto araṁkŕ̥taḥ yuvā́ṁ havante aśvinā

The people who have prepared the altar, are offering oblations, and are well-prepared, invoke you, O Ashvins.

Stanza 8.5.18

अ॒स्माक॑म॒द्य वा॑म॒यं स्तोमो॒ वाहि॑ष्ठो॒ अन्त॑मः | यु॒वाभ्यां॑ भूत्वश्विना ||

asmā́kam adyá vām ayáṁ stómo vā́hiṣṭho ántamaḥ yuvā́bhyām bhūtv aśvinā

May this our hymn of praise today be the most effective and closest to you, O Ashvins.

Stanza 8.5.19

यो ह॑ वां॒ मधु॑नो॒ दृति॒राहि॑तो रथ॒चर्ष॑णे | ततः॑ पिबतमश्विना ||

yó ha vām mádhuno dŕ̥tir ā́hito rathacárṣaṇe tátaḥ pibatam aśvinā

Drink from that skin of mead, O Ashvins, which is placed in the path of your chariot.

Stanza 8.5.20

तेन॑ नो वाजिनीवसू॒ पश्वे॑ तो॒काय॒ शं गवे॑ | वह॑तं॒ पीव॑री॒रिषः॑ ||

téna no vājinīvasū páśve tokā́ya śáṁ gáve váhatam pī́varīr íṣaḥ

For this, O possessors of wealth and strength, bring to us blessings for cattle, offspring, cows, and bring forth rich food.

Stanza 8.5.21

उ॒त नो॑ दि॒व्या इष॑ उ॒त सिन्धूँ॑रहर्विदा | अप॒ द्वारे॑व वर्षथः ||

utá no divyā́ íṣa utá síndhūm̐r aharvidā ápa dvā́reva varṣathaḥ

O finders of the day, you two open like doors the heavenly waters and rivers; bestow rain.

Stanza 8.5.22

क॒दा वां॑ तौ॒ग्र्यो वि॑धत्समु॒द्रे ज॑हि॒तो न॑रा | यद्वां॒ रथो॒ विभि॒ष्पता॑त् ||

kadā́ vāṁ taugryó vidhat samudré jahitó narā yád vāṁ rátho víbhiṣ pátāt

When did the son of Tugra serve you, O heroes, abandoned in the sea, that your chariot with winged steeds might fly?

Stanza 8.5.23

यु॒वं कण्वा॑य नासत्या॒ ऋपि॑रिप्ताय ह॒र्म्ये | शश्व॑दू॒तीर्द॑शस्यथः ||

yuváṁ káṇvāya nāsatyā ŕ̥piriptāya harmyé śáśvad ūtī́r daśasyathaḥ

O Nāsatyas, you two repeatedly aided Kanva when he was cast into the danger; you protected him.

Stanza 8.5.24

ताभि॒रा या॑तमू॒तिभि॒र्नव्य॑सीभिः सुश॒स्तिभिः॑ | यद्वां॑ वृषण्वसू हु॒वे ||

tā́bhir ā́ yātam ūtíbhir návyasībhiḥ suśastíbhiḥ yád vāṁ vr̥ṣaṇvasū huvé

O wealthy Ashvins, come with your excellent and praiseworthy aids, as I invoke you.

Stanza 8.5.25

यथा॑ चि॒त्कण्व॒माव॑तं प्रि॒यमे॑धमुपस्तु॒तम् | अत्रिं॑ शि॒ञ्जार॑मश्विना ||

yáthā cit káṇvam ā́vatam priyámedham upastutám átriṁ śiñjā́ram aśvinā

As you protected Kanva, Priyamedha, Upastuta, Atri, and Śiñjāra, O Ashvins, so protect us.

Stanza 8.5.26

यथो॒त कृत्व्ये॒ धनें॒ऽशुं गोष्व॒गस्त्य॑म् | यथा॒ वाजे॑षु॒ सोभ॑रिम् ||

yáthotá kŕ̥tvye dháne 'ṁśúṁ góṣv agástyam yáthā vā́jeṣu sóbharim

As Anśu in the decisive battle, Agastya in the fight for cattle, and Sobhari in the battles.

Stanza 8.5.27

ए॒ताव॑द्वां वृषण्वसू॒ अतो॑ वा॒ भूयो॑ अश्विना | गृ॒णन्तः॑ सु॒म्नमी॑महे ||

etā́vad vāṁ vr̥ṣaṇvasū áto vā bhū́yo aśvinā gr̥ṇántaḥ sumnám īmahe

O wealthy Ashvins, may we receive from you today even more than this blessedness, as we sing praises.

Stanza 8.5.28

रथं॒ हिर॑ण्यवन्धुरं॒ हिर॑ण्याभीशुमश्विना | आ हि स्थाथो॑ दिवि॒स्पृश॑म् ||

ráthaṁ híraṇyavandhuraṁ híraṇyābhīśum aśvinā ā́ hí sthā́tho divispŕ̥śam

O Ashvins, ascend the chariot with a golden seat and golden reins, reaching the sky.

Stanza 8.5.29

हि॒र॒ण्ययी॑ वां॒ रभि॑री॒षा अक्षो॑ हिर॒ण्ययः॑ | उ॒भा च॒क्रा हि॑र॒ण्यया॑ ||

hiraṇyáyī vāṁ rábhir īṣā́ ákṣo hiraṇyáyaḥ ubhā́ cakrā́ hiraṇyáyā

Golden is your chariot's support, the axle is golden, and both wheels are golden.

Stanza 8.5.30

तेन॑ नो वाजिनीवसू परा॒वत॑श्चि॒दा ग॑तम् | उपे॒मां सु॑ष्टु॒तिं मम॑ ||

téna no vājinīvasū parāvátaś cid ā́ gatam úpemā́ṁ suṣṭutím máma

O possessors of wealth and strength, come to us from afar by that means, towards this my eulogy.

Stanza 8.5.31

आ व॑हेथे परा॒कात्पू॒र्वीर॒श्नन्ता॑वश्विना | इषो॒ दासी॑रमर्त्या ||

ā́ vahethe parākā́t pūrvī́r aśnántāv aśvinā íṣo dā́sīr amartyā

O immortal Ashvins, come to us from afar, enjoying abundant food and the Dasa's sustenance.

Stanza 8.5.32

आ नो॑ द्यु॒म्नैरा श्रवो॑भि॒रा रा॒या या॑तमश्विना | पुरु॑श्चन्द्रा॒ नास॑त्या ||

ā́ no dyumnaír ā́ śrávobhir ā́ rāyā́ yātam aśvinā púruścandrā nā́satyā

O brilliant Ashvins, Nāsatyas, come to us with splendors, renown, and riches.

Stanza 8.5.33

एह वां॑ प्रुषि॒तप्स॑वो॒ वयो॑ वहन्तु प॒र्णिनः॑ | अच्छा॑ स्वध्व॒रं जन॑म् ||

éhá vām pruṣitápsavo váyo vahantu parṇínaḥ áchā svadhvaráṁ jánam

May your dappled horses, O Ashvins, and winged steeds bring you swiftly to the people skilled in sacrifice.

Stanza 8.5.34

रथं॑ वा॒मनु॑गायसं॒ य इ॒षा वर्त॑ते स॒ह | न च॒क्रम॒भि बा॑धते ||

ráthaṁ vām ánugāyasaṁ yá iṣā́ vártate sahá ná cakrám abhí bādhate

Your chariot, accompanied by song, whose wheel does not delay, moves with food and overcomes obstacles.

Stanza 8.5.35

हि॒र॒ण्यये॑न॒ रथे॑न द्र॒वत्पा॑णिभि॒रश्वैः॑ | धीज॑वना॒ नास॑त्या ||

hiraṇyáyena ráthena dravátpāṇibhir áśvaiḥ dhī́javanā nā́satyā

O swift-as-thought Nāsatyas, come with horses and swift feet in the golden chariot.

Stanza 8.5.36

यु॒वं मृ॒गं जा॑गृ॒वांसं॒ स्वद॑थो वा वृषण्वसू | ता नः॑ पृङ्क्तमि॒षा र॒यिम् ||

yuvám mr̥gáṁ jāgr̥vā́ṁsaṁ svádatho vā vr̥ṣaṇvasū tā́ naḥ pr̥ṅktam iṣā́ rayím

O wealthy Ashvins, do you enjoy the watchful wild beast? Unite wealth and sustenance for us.

Stanza 8.5.37

ता मे॑ अश्विना सनी॒नां वि॒द्यातं॒ नवा॑नाम् | यथा॑ चिच्चै॒द्यः क॒शुः श॒तमुष्ट्रा॑नां॒ दद॑त्स॒हस्रा॒ दश॒ गोना॑म् ||

tā́ me aśvinā sanīnā́ṁ vidyā́taṁ návānām yáthā cic caidyáḥ kaśúḥ śatám úṣṭrānāṁ dádat sahásrā dáśa gónām

O Ashvins, find for me my share of new gifts, as Kaśu, son of Caidya, gave a hundred buffaloes and ten thousand cows.

Stanza 8.5.38

यो मे॒ हिर॑ण्यसंदृशो॒ दश॒ राज्ञो॒ अमं॑हत | अ॒ध॒स्प॒दा इच्चै॒द्यस्य॑ कृ॒ष्टय॑श्चर्म॒म्ना अ॒भितो॒ जनाः॑ ||

yó me híraṇyasaṁdr̥śo dáśa rā́jño ámaṁhata adhaspadā́ íc caidyásya kr̥ṣṭáyaś carmamnā́ abhíto jánāḥ

He who gave me ten kings like gold, under Caidya's authority are the people and the communities.

Stanza 8.5.39

माकि॑रे॒ना प॒था गा॒द्येने॒मे यन्ति॑ चे॒दयः॑ | अ॒न्यो नेत्सू॒रिरोह॑ते भूरि॒दाव॑त्तरो॒ जनः॑ ||

mā́kir enā́ pathā́ gād yénemé yánti cedáyaḥ anyó nét sūrír óhate bhūridā́vattaro jánaḥ

No one should go on the path on which these Chedis go. No other prince or person is more generous than they.
