Stanza 8.53.1

उ॒प॒मं त्वा॑ म॒घोनां॒ ज्येष्ठं॑ च वृष॒भाणा॑म् | पू॒र्भित्त॑मं मघवन्निन्द्र गो॒विद॒मीशा॑नं रा॒य ई॑महे ||

upamáṁ tvā maghónāṁ jyéṣṭhaṁ ca vr̥ṣabhā́ṇām pūrbhíttamam maghavann indra govídam ī́śānaṁ rāyá īmahe

O Indra, most magnificent among the affluent, foremost among the mighty, best destroyer of fortresses, giver of cows, master of wealth, we seek you.

Stanza 8.53.2

य आ॒युं कुत्स॑मतिथि॒ग्वमर्द॑यो वावृधा॒नो दि॒वेदि॑वे | तं त्वा॑ व॒यं हर्य॑श्वं श॒तक्र॑तुं वाज॒यन्तो॑ हवामहे ||

yá āyúṁ kútsam atithigvám árdayo vāvr̥dhānó divé-dive táṁ tvā vayáṁ háryaśvaṁ śatákratuṁ vājayánto havāmahe

You subdued Ayus, Kutsa, Atithigva, who grew stronger day by day. We invoke you, O Indra, with swift horses and great powers.

Stanza 8.53.3

आ नो॒ विश्वे॑षां॒ रसं॒ मध्वः॑ सिञ्च॒न्त्वद्र॑यः | ये प॑रा॒वति॑ सुन्वि॒रे जने॒ष्वा ये अ॑र्वा॒वतीन्द॑वः ||

ā́ no víśveṣāṁ rásam mádhvaḥ siñcantv ádrayaḥ yé parāváti sunviré jáneṣv ā́ yé arvāvátī́ndavaḥ

May the pressing stones pour the sweet essence of the Soma for us, those that pressed it in distant lands and those that pressed it nearby.

Stanza 8.53.4

विश्वा॒ द्वेषां॑सि ज॒हि चाव॒ चा कृ॑धि॒ विश्वे॑ सन्व॒न्त्वा वसु॑ | शीष्टे॑षु चित्ते मदि॒रासो॑ अं॒शवो॒ यत्रा॒ सोम॑स्य तृ॒म्पसि॑ ||

víśvā dvéṣāṁsi jahí cā́va cā́ kr̥dhi víśve sanvantv ā́ vásu śī́ṣṭeṣu cit te madirā́so aṁśávo yátrā sómasya tr̥mpási

Destroy all hatred and cast it away; make all beings prosperous. Even among those who offer, the Soma juices that delight you are abundant, where you are satisfied with Soma.

Stanza 8.53.5

इन्द्र॒ नेदी॑य॒ एदि॑हि मि॒तमे॑धाभिरू॒तिभिः॑ | आ शं॑तम॒ शंत॑माभिर॒भिष्टि॑भि॒रा स्वा॑पे स्वा॒पिभिः॑ ||

índra nédīya éd ihi mitámedhābhir ūtíbhiḥ ā́ śaṁtama śáṁtamābhir abhíṣṭibhir ā́ svāpe svāpíbhiḥ

O Indra, come very near to us with firm aids and helps. Come with the best and most auspicious assistances, O kinsman, with kinsmen.

Stanza 8.53.6

आ॒जि॒तुरं॒ सत्प॑तिं वि॒श्वच॑र्षणिं कृ॒धि प्र॒जास्वाभ॑गम् | प्र सू ति॑रा॒ शची॑भि॒र्ये त॑ उ॒क्थिनः॒ क्रतुं॑ पुन॒त आ॑नु॒षक् ||

ājitúraṁ sátpatiṁ viśvácarṣaṇiṁ kr̥dhí prajā́sv ā́bhagam prá sū́ tirā śácībhir yé ta ukthínaḥ krátum punatá ānuṣák

Make us blessed with offspring, O victor in the contest, chief of men, leader of all. Aid with your powers those who hymn you, those who constantly purify.

Stanza 8.53.7

यस्ते॒ साधि॒ष्ठोऽव॑से॒ ते स्या॑म॒ भरे॑षु ते | व॒यं होत्रा॑भिरु॒त दे॒वहू॑तिभिः सस॒वांसो॑ मनामहे ||

yás te sā́dhiṣṭhó 'vase té syāma bháreṣu te vayáṁ hótrābhir utá deváhūtibhiḥ sasavā́ṁso manāmahe

May we be those who are closest to your help, O Indra. May we be with you in battles, and with our prayers and divine invocations, may we be victorious.

Stanza 8.53.8

अ॒हं हि ते॑ हरिवो॒ ब्रह्म॑ वाज॒युरा॒जिं यामि॒ सदो॒तिभिः॑ | त्वामिदे॒व तममे॒ सम॑श्व॒युर्ग॒व्युरग्रे॑ मथी॒नाम् ||

aháṁ hí te harivo bráhma vājayúr ājíṁ yā́mi sádotíbhiḥ tvā́m íd evá tám áme sám aśvayúr gavyúr ágre mathīnā́m

For indeed, O Indra, Lord of Bays, I am yours, seeking wealth and knowledge. I go to the contest with your helps. You alone, O Indra, unite with us, desiring horses and cattle, as the foremost among the warriors.
