अस्त॑भ्ना॒द्द्यामसु॑रो वि॒श्ववे॑दा॒ अमि॑मीत वरि॒माणं॑ पृथि॒व्याः | आसी॑द॒द्विश्वा॒ भुव॑नानि स॒म्राड्विश्वेत्तानि॒ वरु॑णस्य व्र॒तानि॑ ||
ástabhnād dyā́m ásuro viśvávedā ámimīta varimā́ṇam pr̥thivyā́ḥ ā́sīdad víśvā bhúvanāni samrā́ḍ víśvét tā́ni váruṇasya vratā́ni
The all-knowing Asura, Varuna, established the sky, measured the expanse of the earth. As the supreme ruler, he encompassed all the worlds. All these are the established ordinances of Varuna.
This verse describes the cosmic actions of Varuna, the 'Asura' (a powerful being) who is 'viśvavedāḥ' (all-knowing). He is depicted as having established the heavens, measured the earth's vastness, and encompassed all existing worlds. These mighty deeds are presented as Varuna's divine laws or decrees ('vratāni').

Thus, worship the great Varuna, revere the wise guardian of immortality. May he grant us protection with three layers of defense. O Earth and Heaven, keep us within your protective embrace.
This verse is an invocation and plea to Varuna, urging the devotee to worship him. Varuna is described as great, wise, and the protector of immortality. The stanza asks for Varuna's threefold protection and also appeals to the Earth and Heaven (Dyāvāpṛthivī) to keep the devotee safe within their embrace.

O God Varuna, sharpen this thought of me who is striving, sharpen my intellect and strength. By means of this, may we overcome all troubles and may we ascend onto a well-navigated boat.
This is a prayer to Varuna for spiritual and intellectual strength. The speaker asks Varuna to sharpen their mind ('dhiyam'), intellect ('kratum'), and power ('daksham'), especially while striving and learning. The ultimate goal is to use this sharpened faculty to overcome all difficulties ('duritā') and to ascend into a safe 'boat' ('nāvam'), implying a safe passage through life's challenges.

O Ashvins, the hymn-pressing stones have made you hasten towards us for the Soma-drink. May those others perish.
This verse is an invocation to the divine twins, Ashvins (Nasatyas).
