Stanza 8.41.1

अ॒स्मा ऊ॒ षु प्रभू॑तये॒ वरु॑णाय म॒रुद्भ्योऽर्चा॑ वि॒दुष्ट॑रेभ्यः | यो धी॒ता मानु॑षाणां प॒श्वो गा इ॑व॒ रक्ष॑ति॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

asmā́ ū ṣú prábhūtaye váruṇāya marúdbhyó 'rcā vidúṣṭarebhyaḥ yó dhītā́ mā́nuṣāṇām paśvó gā́ iva rákṣati nábhantām anyaké same

Sing out for Varuna, for his abundant favor, and for the Maruts, the most knowing ones. He who guards the thoughts of humans like cattle; let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.2

तमू॒ षु स॑म॒ना गि॒रा पि॑तॄ॒णां च॒ मन्म॑भिः | ना॒भा॒कस्य॒ प्रश॑स्तिभि॒र्यः सिन्धू॑ना॒मुपो॑द॒ये स॒प्तस्व॑सा॒ स म॑ध्य॒मो नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

tám ū ṣú samanā́ girā́ pitr̥r̥ṇā́ṁ ca mánmabhiḥ nābhākásya práśastibhir yáḥ síndhūnām úpodayé saptásvasā sá madhyamó nábhantām anyaké same

With hymns and ancestral thoughts, and with Nabhaka's praises, I praise him altogether. He who dwells at the source of rivers, the one with seven sisters, he, the middle one; let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.3

स क्षपः॒ परि॑ षस्वजे॒ न्यु१॒॑स्रो मा॒यया॑ दधे॒ स विश्वं॒ परि॑ दर्श॒तः | तस्य॒ वेनी॒रनु॑ व्र॒तमु॒षस्ति॒स्रो अ॑वर्धय॒न्नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

sá kṣápaḥ pári ṣasvaje ny ùsró māyáyā dadhe sá víśvam pári darśatáḥ tásya vénīr ánu vratám uṣás tisró avardhayan nábhantām anyaké same

He embraced the nights and established the dawns with magic, visible everywhere. His companions, following his order, made the three dawns grow. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.4

यः क॒कुभो॑ निधार॒यः पृ॑थि॒व्यामधि॑ दर्श॒तः | स माता॑ पू॒र्व्यं प॒दं तद्वरु॑णस्य॒ सप्त्यं॒ स हि गो॒पा इ॒वेर्यो॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yáḥ kakúbho nidhārayáḥ pr̥thivyā́m ádhi darśatáḥ sá mā́tā pūrvyám padáṁ tád váruṇasya sáptyaṁ sá hí gopā́ ivéryo nábhantām anyaké same

He who, visible across the earth, established the directions. He measured the eastern place; that is Varuna's stable. He is like a strong herdsman. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.5

यो ध॒र्ता भुव॑नानां॒ य उ॒स्राणा॑मपी॒च्या॒३॒॑ वेद॒ नामा॑नि॒ गुह्या॑ | स क॒विः काव्या॑ पु॒रु रू॒पं द्यौरि॑व पुष्यति॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yó dhartā́ bhúvanānāṁ yá usrā́ṇām apīcyāā̀ véda nā́māni gúhyā sá kavíḥ kā́vyā purú rūpáṁ dyaúr iva puṣyati nábhantām anyaké same

He who supports the worlds, and knows the hidden, mysterious names of the dawns. He, the wise poet, cherishes many forms, like the sky. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.6

यस्मि॒न्विश्वा॑नि॒ काव्या॑ च॒क्रे नाभि॑रिव श्रि॒ता | त्रि॒तं जू॒ती स॑पर्यत व्र॒जे गावो॒ न सं॒युजे॑ यु॒जे अश्वाँ॑ अयुक्षत॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yásmin víśvāni kā́vyā cakré nā́bhir iva śritā́ tritáṁ jūtī́ saparyata vrajé gā́vo ná saṁyúje yujé áśvām̐ ayukṣata nábhantām anyaké same

In whom all wisdom rests, like the hub in a wheel. Hasten to worship Trita with enthusiasm, as cows gather in the fold, and as horses are yoked for use. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.7

य आ॒स्वत्क॑ आ॒शये॒ विश्वा॑ जा॒तान्ये॑षाम् | परि॒ धामा॑नि॒ मर्मृ॑श॒द्वरु॑णस्य पु॒रो गये॒ विश्वे॑ दे॒वा अनु॑ व्र॒तं नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yá āsv átka āśáye víśvā jātā́ny eṣām pári dhā́māni mármr̥śad váruṇasya puró gáye víśve devā́ ánu vratáṁ nábhantām anyaké same

He wraps these regions like a garment, and contemplates all beings. He knows all the existing places. Before Varuna's home, all gods follow his order. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.8

स स॑मु॒द्रो अ॑पी॒च्य॑स्तु॒रो द्यामि॑व रोहति॒ नि यदा॑सु॒ यजु॑र्द॒धे | स मा॒या अ॒र्चिना॑ प॒दास्तृ॑णा॒न्नाक॒मारु॑ह॒न्नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

sá samudró apīcyàs turó dyā́m iva rohati ní yád āsu yájur dadhé sá māyā́ arcínā padā́str̥ṇān nā́kam ā́ruhan nábhantām anyaké same

He is a distant ocean, but like the sky, he ascends. The worship he embraces from here. With his bright foot, he overthrew illusions and ascended to heaven. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.9

यस्य॑ श्वे॒ता वि॑चक्ष॒णा ति॒स्रो भूमी॑रधिक्षि॒तः | त्रिरुत्त॑राणि प॒प्रतु॒र्वरु॑णस्य ध्रु॒वं सदः॒ स स॑प्ता॒नामि॑रज्यति॒ नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yásya śvetā́ vicakṣaṇā́ tisró bhū́mīr adhikṣitáḥ trír úttarāṇi paprátur váruṇasya dhruváṁ sádaḥ sá saptānā́m irajyati nábhantām anyaké same

Whose bright, discerning ones pervade three earths and the three upper regions. They have spread out. Varuna's seat is firm. He rules over the seven. Let all others perish.

Stanza 8.41.10

यः श्वे॒ताँ अधि॑निर्णिजश्च॒क्रे कृ॒ष्णाँ अनु॑ व्र॒ता | स धाम॑ पू॒र्व्यं म॑मे॒ यः स्क॒म्भेन॒ वि रोद॑सी अ॒जो न द्यामधा॑रय॒न्नभ॑न्तामन्य॒के स॑मे ||

yáḥ śvetā́m̐ ádhinirṇijaś cakré kr̥ṣṇā́m̐ ánu vratā́ sá dhā́ma pūrvyám mame yá skambhéna ví ródasī ajó ná dyā́m ádhārayan nábhantām anyaké same

Who, by his decree, covered the dark ones with white, and followed his rule. He established the ancient place. He, like the unborn one, supported the two realms with a pillar. Let all others perish.
