Stanza 8.40.1

Indra and Agni, you two, as supreme conquerors, grant us abundant wealth. With this, may we, in battles, overcome even the strongly fortified and the immovable. May they (our enemies) be consumed like Agni consumes forests with the wind. May all others perish.

Stanza 8.40.2

We do not set any snares for you two. Instead, we worship Indra, the mightiest hero of men. May he, with his swift horse, come to us at some point for sustenance and for the completion of our rituals. May others perish.

Stanza 8.40.3

For indeed, Indra and Agni, you are present in the midst of the battles. You are wise ones, sought after like friends. Heroes, accept our offering and grant our desires.

Stanza 8.40.4

Praise, as Nabhāka did, Indra and Agni, with worship and hymn. To whom all this world belongs, this mighty heaven and earth, which hold treasures in their lap. They nourish all.

Stanza 8.40.5

Send forth your prayers, as Nabhāka did, to Indra and Agni. They opened the seven-based ocean with its sideways opening. Indra, the powerful ruler, commands with strength.

Stanza 8.40.6

Tear apart, as in ancient times, like a tangled plant, the might of the Dasa. Destroy it. May we, with Indra's help, share the wealth he has gathered.

Stanza 8.40.7

If these people invoke Indra and Agni with song and hymn, may we, with our heroes, overcome those who provoke battle and conquer those who attack.

Stanza 8.40.8

When the two white ones descend with radiance from the sky, following the command of Indra and Agni, the rivers flow, which they released from their bonds.

Stanza 8.40.9

O Indra, many are your aids and praises. O Lord of Steeds, Son of Hinva, grant to us, through your strength, that our prayers, aiming for a great hero, may be accomplished.

Stanza 8.40.10

Inspire that brilliant hero with good hymns; with his might, he breaks the eggs of Shushna and wins the sunlit waters. May others perish.

Stanza 8.40.11

Inspire that hero, who is truly mighty and performs rituals well, with divine knowledge. He broke the eggs of Shushna and won the sunlit waters. May others perish.

Stanza 8.40.12

evéndrāgníbhyām pitr̥ván návīyo mandhātr̥vád aṅgirasvád avāci tridhā́tunā śármaṇā pātam asmā́n vayáṁ syāma pátayo rayīṇā́m

Thus, we have sung anew to Indra and Agni, like our fathers (Angirases) and like Mandhâtar. Protect us with triple shelter. May we become masters of wealth.
